To Ablett or not to Ablett?

A simple poll, curious to see what % will include the mercurial one in their teams.

I haven't put in an 'undecided' category. Vote when you've decided.

first vote and i am a no. he's in my DT but not SC...

i've got plenty of cash but i have a feeling he'll drop in price by about rd 6-7 and i might think about it then. i have 3 of the next 5 though...

$76K more expensive than the next bloke is a bit much...

For those voting no, I would suggest a visit to Too Serious. They have a calculator there that will help you determine what his price would be if he puts in certain scores. If you put in his average score against the Cats first five or six weeks in you'll find that there won't be any significant price drop. In the meantime, you are getting owned by a guy who averages 25 better than any other player in the comp. That's 50 points your team isn't scoring.

All the best with that.

It's all relative REB. If you're making sacrifices elsewhere to have him in the team, then that extra 50 points is merely covering, for instance, the inconsistency of a third/fourth starting rookie.

IMO he's too hard to trade in later because you need 3 trades to get enough cash to reach those $600K+ players

I think save yourself the stress later and just find a way to start him.

Also, most of the best teams will have him so the safe bet is to follow the pack so you aren't disadvantaged if he fires up. On the other hand, if he dips in price you will be in the same boat as most other teams.

Note - this is a SC opinion. I don't know about Ablett in DT.

I tell ya what though, if he does get injured this year, I won't be so quick to trade him out this time #-o

I learnt my lesson last year by trying to be smart and going without Ablett and spreading the wealth. It didn't work. :(

Ablett = first bloke into my team this year.

Oh, did you start him last year? Sorry I assumed you never had him at all.

I traded him out last year too when he got injured. Getting him back was a pain so, in hindsight, it was a mistake although I did pick up Dane Swan in the process and he then went on a scoring rampage.

I held $200K in my bank for 4 weeks until I could upgrade Daniel Rich - Ablett.

I am fairly sure I had him from the start, but then traded him out when he was injured (thinking it would be a longer stint than it was) and then traded him back in for finals.

Who earns you a lot more cash than an Adam Cooney.

Do you dare suggest that Coons will be inconsistent this year? Could be a worry for 90% of fantasy coaches who have him in their team

Not at all Q Man. But I reckon Martin for example will appreciate in value a lot more. Coondog was just an example.
