Raines and Maguire put in a good one in their practice match against Hawthorn last week and both are in the selection mix for the match against the Eagles. If you can get Goose on the bench then he would provide fantastic cover for Raines or even a Drummond or Adcock. I had Raines last year and he was useless as he got injured and never got going.

A bit of a risk.

If you only care about your league and you think he's important to your team then save the trade and put him in your starting team.

If he's 50-50 only then pick someone else like Hunt.

If you were trying for an overall ranking goal then I'd definitely not start him.

Hey, what do you think about Bastinac? Start round 1? Regular games?

The only problem is that Hunt and Ladson (the other alternative that's if he hasn't tripped over that Black Cat this stalking Glenferrie) are more expensive. My option is hope that the Goose is not cooked so I can slot Levi on to the bench until he's ready.

Yeah, I already have Maguire on my bench and traded hunt for Raines this week, but might piss him off and bring Hunt back in.

Both players have a massive upside. Hunt kicks the ball a lot and is effective by foot (i.e. no penalties for clangers) but Raines was wooed by Voss himself up North with a promise of a 'roaming' role. I reckon either of these players will stand you in good stead but if you have Goose then there is no real need to get rid of Raines unless you think Hunt will clean him up this year.

Hunt will earn you some cash but his cieling is well known (i.e. mid 70's) , this is yet to be fully discovered in the case of Raines.

Yes, I have been following Raines for a number of seasons and was burnt last year, but there was something initially that excited the possibilities if given the opportunity.

I'm getting excited.
Stared at the side for hours last night and feeling settled.
I dropped Daniel Stewart as forward.
Young big blokes just aint consistent enough!
I'm hoping Ballantyne will have a good year.
And gambling on Mark Williams Essendon!!

ok, i'm not too fussed if people know my side, you can see it after rd1 anyways. my DT is as follows...

Goddard, Enright, Harbrow
Pearce, Malceski, Ladson, Hunt
Ablett (c) Montagna (vc) O'Keefe
Higgins, Robinson, Martin
Tippett, Natanui
Goodes, Giansiracusa, Waite
Hall, Ballantyne, Dangerfield, Campbell

EMER: Waters (def), Barlow (mid) Rockliff (fwd)

Bench:
def- Farmer
mid- Jetta
ruck- Vickery, Warnock
fwd- Taylor

my only questions are Robinson and Waite, not too sure on how they will go. also Troy Taylor and his possible charges... if he gets charged then he won't play for a while, if he plays he looks very exciting...

thoughts?

and my SC is similar, i changed my mind on Gold Coast GAJ...

Goddard, Enright, Pearce
Stewart, Malceski, Hunt, Ladson
Ablett (c) Montagna (vc) Swan
Higgins, Trengove, Martin
Tippett, Natanui
Goodes, Reiwoldt, Giansiracusa,
Hall, Dangerfield, Westoff, Ballantyne

EMER: Waters (def), Barlow (mid) Rockliff (fwd)

Bench:
def- Maguire
mid- Jetta
ruck- Warnock, Grimley
fwd- Peterson

questions only on Paul Stewart and Maguire... otherwise relatively happy.

now you can pick my sides to pieces, go for broke lads!!!
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

You guys are taking a risk on NicNat. Can't see him being a consistent high scorer.

I reckon that Goldstein, White and even Renouf will do better than NickNat. Not touching him with a barge pole.

Yep, I may have to eat those words.

I have my own troubles anyway, I'm a measly $200 short of the team I want and could finally settle on.

NickNat ( - Cox) vs. Essendon ( - Hille, - Ryder) = High TOG = 175

NickNat (+ Cox) vs. Port ( - Brogan!) = Less TOG = 64.

Didn't have to wait too long eh?

I'll be taking my advice from the people that are actually successful at Supercaoch, not those who wish they were ;)

239 in two games is pretty ordinary. Anyhow, who really cares? I can afford to have a quiet ruckman, because the rest of my team ******* rocks

LOL. He got his 175 with No Cox and with the oppo playing no rucks. Essendon tend to not go so well when they try that. Don't say you weren't warned Cracker!

you make a good point REB. i was tossing up between him and Hille... i went with NicNat because i thought Jille would start pretty slowly considering his time off with injury...

other options worth considering? Renouf? McEvoy?

No and no.

The sensible option is to play two rucks that will guarantee you 190-200 points each week.

The more I think about it, the more I like Ryder as a 2nd ruck.
