Won't be trading out premiums, despite poor form.

Will look at bringing in premiums who are dipping in price, but might be too early to bring in the likes of Franklin, Birchall or Selwood.

Round 4 Previews

Poon Army v Longwood Lions - Match of the Round

The inagural Premier League winner meets up with the inaugural winner of the Hogg Champions league in this week's match of the round. Looking at the lineups they look very similar indeed and both will be hurt by the non selection of Dyson Heppell in the backline. Poonie also has Ffye in the midfield so I reckon this gives Alaska the edge. The party is over for Poon Army as I expect Longwood Lions to win this match.

chardy socialists v Darksiders SCE

The Darksiders have been decimated in the backline having the 'lucky' break of having Luke Brown as well as the three amigos. Normally all over the park the Darkisders appear stonger but this week, they don't. With Chappy to return to the socialists and Matty Priddis somehow getting up this week they have the cattle to create the upset. However, after a closer inspection of the midfield, I can't see how the chardies can get over the line, there just isn't enough guns and Darksiders SCE should win here but it will be closer than it might have otherwise have been.

The Ginger Ninjas v Buddyroughhawks

The point shy Ninjas were dealt a body blow last week with the season ending injury to Taylor Walker. The Ninjas are going even worse than the Crows at the moment and they are ripe for the picking at this stage of the season. Some astute trading can avoid a donut for Gingernuts but this team has a neglected look about it and I expect Buddyroughhawks to pounce on the four points.

MILLER MOSQUITOES v REBCats

The MOSQUITOES have been hard hit by injury and vists from the General this week and will be scrambling to fill all the positions in the midfield and defence. The REBCats welcome back Viney and Kommer but my boys have the same problem in the backline as everyone else, plus the additional snafu of picking up Rioli only last week ACK. With both teams playing catch up footy I reckon MILLERS is in even more bother than my side and I reckon REBCats can steal the points and move away from the relegation zone.

Cork in the Ocean v Dutchys Dodos

Two sides that missed finals action last year have started the 2013 season off very well and the winner of this game will move to 3-1 and be starting to think about the top four this season. Looking at the lineups I notice that Corky hasn't copped it as bad as most and they appear to have a greater capacity for scoring even if they were both at full strength. I keep tipping against Dutchy and I'm doing it again here as I reckon Cork in the Ocean will win this match.

Squeakeroos DTC v Underdogs

I reckon this one will be a cracker of a game with Brendan Goddard playing the unusual role of POD player. Gibbo went in without Goddard and this week would be a terrible week to have played that particular strategy. If she had gone in without Gibbs instead it would have been advantage Underdogs but I fancy Squeaky in this game. The Squeakeroos are already starting to develop a menacing midfield with good flexibility in the forward line and if they win this they can be a real threat this season. Squeakeroos to get up in a high standard game with Gibbo missing the Goddard piece of the puzzle.

Hawkeye v Spuds

Hawkeye's form returned to the latter stages of last season and he came down to earth with a thud last week and slid down to 10th spot on the ladder. The Spuds meanwhile, have been slowly but sneakily climbing the ladder and this trend will continue as Hawkeye can't fill his backline after looking at five donuts back there and he has Fyfe as well. Woggy might even hold the trades and tank this one and write this game off as unwinnable. The Spuds should win this easily.

Richo Richo Man v Texas Danger SSC

This is a match between the traditional rivals who have a four year long history of very close matches between the two. I'm not exactly sure on the head to head stats but Hondo is probably up and CoverKing will probably tell us all he's master of the situation. Secret squirrell Richo Richo has already told us all he wants to bring in Gazza (to cover Fyfe) but Tex already has Gaz and he might bring in another gun to replace Ffye to counter that move. Problem for Hondo is that he has Rioli and Heppell and despite his best efforts, I don't think he can cover his donuts as well as Richo Richo Man who should win this and end Hondo's winning streak.

Q Before You v Captain Who?

Q Man's season has gone from bad to worse and he is another coach who has opened a bakery in the backline with five donuts being rolled out in the Grand Final replay against the reigning premier. The Captain has four of his own to worry about but can trade them away if he so wishes. Everything that can go wrong has for Q Man which is a direct opposite to last season when the Q Man didn't score all that well but laughed at sixteen other coaches after Prelim Final week. After selling his soul to the devil for Hogg success last year (or was it an Angel as he turned his back on a cash league), it's all gone Q shaped for Q Before You. The Captain will win this game and keep his title defence rolling.

Well here's to a Tex and Poony loss and a REBCats win. Some very important matches already. Good luck to all teams.

Jeeze I hope Rowe misses this week.

That will make it impossible for Hondo to avoid a donut I reckon, well close to it!

Will be a tough game and close as always. Reckon Hondo has me covered or all square! Always close games though

Rowe has the orange light so a big chance to miss. Looks like Waite has taken his place and Warnock might remain in the side.

In a week in which I predicted the demise of the unbeaten Poon Army and Texas Danger, both showed their true colours to perform well in a difficult week for SuperCoaches. Poony remains top of the class after disposing of the Longwood Lions who had too many holes to fill to stop the Poon Army. I'm not sure exactly how Hondo managed to get such a good score with so many out but this weekend's coaching masterstroke made a mockery of the history of tight matches that CoverKing and Hondo have had over the years with a wobbly Richo now down to 13th on the ladder.

Another coach to score well during a tough week was the Q Man who opened his account against the reigning premier to reverse last year's Grand Final result. Anyone who got 2200 this week has done very well indeed. Another side in the Premier League who did just that was Cork in the Ocean who topped the league this week with a score of 2224 in a match that Dutchy can consider himself unlucky to lose.

Speaking of losers, our own Gingernuts is off to a very tardy start and he seems anchored, Giantlike to the foot of the ladder. Being the gentleman that he is finny has decided to drop by and keep Ginge company sharing their burger rings and donuts. With the bottom two going down and all bets being off during the bye period, these blokes need to get cracking soon. Speaking of dropping by, feel free to do so Woggy with some amber fluid after I gave you the kiss of life last week...not literally of course, he's a hairy bastard!

Coverking was unlucky with Buddy, Birchall, Jacobs and Cotchin all underperforming. I have none of those.

On the other hand I had Hartlett with a poor game but compensating was Dangerfield's 173.

We both did the VC loophole on Pendles.

I honestly couldn't see you winning at the start of the round, then as you said, the four premiums that i have that you don't got less than 250 between them.

Round 5 Previews

Poon Army v Darksiders SCE – Match of the Round

Unbeaten ladders leaders Poon Army take on two time Hogg Premier winners Darksiders in the match of the round. The Poon Army has been in sensational form so far this year beating all comers in a brilliant start to the season. The Darksiders have a very strong midfield and are just starting to hit their straps at this time of the year which is ominous for all Hogg Premier coaches considering the Darkside’s proud track record. I reckon that Hammo can live up to his lofty Hogg rating and that Poon Army can defeat the Darksiders in what should be a cracker.

Longwood Lions v Buddyroughhawks

wycbloods and his Buddyroughhawks took a bit of a tumble last week while Alaska’s form continued to cool as they suffered an unexpected defeat last weekend. With both sides looking to rebound I’m leaning towards Longwood Lions to come out of last week’s reversal in better shape than the hawks. It’s Longwood Lions to win this and put the heat on the Buddyroughhawks.

chardy socialists v REBCats

The REBCats will be looking for revenge against the chardies after losing to them last year and a brief look at the chardy’s line-up suggests this is a match that the REBCats should win. Both teams started slowly but the REBCats form is heading North while the socialists are heading in the opposite direction. The REBCats will win their third on the trot and send the chardies crashing to a 0-5 start.

The Ginger Ninjas v Dutchy’s Dodos

The Dodos could have been considered an unlikely top eight candidate but so far this season they have been scoring well and winning matches. This time last year the Ninjas were in career best form and making a play for the eight but this season has turned all South Adelaide for Gingernuts. The Ninjas scoring is well down on previous efforts and it is hard to see where his first win is going to come from. It won’t be against Dutchy as I’m tipping a Dutchy’s Dodos victory.

MILLER MOSQUITOES v Squeakeroos DTC

If you play in the Hogg Premier League for long enough, you are bound to eventually have a stinker of a season and this could be that stinker that the highly rated MILLER MOSQUITOES might be having this year. Normally it’s MILLER time on a regular basis and in fact the MOSQUITOES led the Hogg scoring at one stage this year but it has all gone pair shaped for the mozzies in recent weeks with a very poor outing in the last round as the coach elected to hold the trades for Ron. Sooner or later though the victories must start happening but I can’t see that being the case in this round against Squeakeroos DTC, a side that I rate this season. Squeaky has now snuck into the eight and I can see Squeakeroos adding another win in this one.

Cork in the Ocean v Spuds

The Spuddys are finding life a bit tougher in the Premier League after dominating in Division I last season and this week they play against an impressive Cork in the Ocean who has been banking early season wins a la Sydney Swans. If the Spuds can win this one they’ll drag Corky down to the pack a bit but for me Corky’s form is a little too hot right now and Cork in the Ocean can win again at the Spuds’ expense.

Underdogs v Texas Danger SSC

Hondo had a very impressive win over his old rival CoverKing even though he opened a bakery last week. Assuming that he gets some players back I can’t see how the Underdogs can score enough points needed to grab the win. The Underdogs started the season with two wins but have drifted off the pace a little with two straight losses and are looking at a third here. I tipped against Hondo last week and I’m not repeating the mistake – Texas Danger SSC is to win this one.

Hawkeye v Captain Who?

Woggy is having the last laugh after I wrote Hawkeye off as a lost cause in the preseason and as recently as last week. Could it be this team of PODs has more than a few more surprises in store for the rest of us? Captain Who of course is a top Premier League outfit but they are at their best later on in the season rather than during the earlier, formative rounds. So I’m going for the upset here as I reckon Hawkeye can win and move to an improbable 4-1 record.

Richo Richo Man v Q Before You

These two sides did well last year but have struggled a little in the current season. The Q Man returned to winning ways last week to end his drought but Richo suffered a second straight loss as a heap of star players failed to perform against an undermanned opponent. Richo Richo will be hard pressed to turn things around this week as I’d suggest he would not be looking at sideways trades when things are hardly drastic at 2-2. With the Q Man back on board and Richo not going all that well it is hard to see anything other than a Q Before You victory.
