If Chelsea FC are lucky enough to fall into the finals they'll win. I can't see them making, they've lost too many close matches, lost despite being the 2nd highest scorer for the round a couple of times and have a tough draw for the final two rounds.
It's a tough game but shit happens.

Chelsea FC may yet get his chance to see if he can live up to his lofty premiership prediction in Hogg Division V this year after his boys cleaned up Squids' Regards, REB combination. Meanwhile, Venomous Geckos showed that they are back in top form when they won the match of the round against Kiwi Krappers by an even 200 points. This result has meant that Adro's Assassins have finally broken into the top four after looking like a top four side all season.

Former Hogg Premier side wonder elephants look finals bound as well which I believe will be a first for the ellies. The Baron's Cowpat Lotto appears to have floated into finals calculations as well as Edna Node appear to have run out of steam and look like doing a Richmond. In the relegation battle a bit of a heartbreaker for Sturt B Team as they lost by a mere five points to Gobbles but 1959 is not a score to be writing home about. rd gets another chance next week but that close loss could spell Division VI for B Team next season.

Need to beat Cow Pat or hope Edna loses to Tylersstars. I didn't think I'd still be alive.

The dust has settled on the minor round now and seven teams are lining up for a shot at promotion into Hogg Division IV next season. This promotion race is particularly even with Venomous Geckos not going as well as they were earlier in the year and other contenders such as Kiwi Krappers and Regards REB not being consistent throughout the year.

Chelsea FC looks a danger from the bottom half of the eight but a special mention needs to go out here to the improvers in this division who were also rans last year but are now playing finals. Regards REB was nek minnut last year and they looked good nearly all last year but did a Richmond and missed out. Squiddly has improved a lot this year and now has the double chance. The wonder elephants have been in the Hogg for many years but this is the first season that the ellies will play off in the minor round. The elephants have really improved over the second half of the season and should acquitt themselves well in the finals. The other team to improve and scramble into the eight this year is the Baron's Cow Pat lotto who have been hopeless in past seasons and are now suiting up for the finals so well done Baron.

The teams in red have gone down to what will probably be the lowest league in the Hogg next year and Sturt B is the unluckiest of those sides. pafc187 made the finals last year so 2013 is a season he'd rather forget. So who gets promoted? The winner of the Krappers v Geckos final will be promoted. If Regards REB can knock off Straycat Strut this week they go up also. The four teams that make the Prelim finals in this league go up except for the Strutties. If the Strutties make the Prelim (should bloody well hope so!) then the losing Semi Finalist with the highest point score for the season goes up.

Game on!

Would be very happy if I make the top 4 considering I burnt my trades a month ago.
Been scoring reasonably well since. Any injuries could hurt though.

Hogg Division V Finals week one

1st Qualifying Final
Regards, REB 2308
Straycat Strut 2185

2nd Qualifying Final
Venomous Geckos 2245
Kiwi Krappers 2012

1st Elimination Final
Cow Pat Lotto 2060
Adro's Assassins 1902

2nd Elimination Final
wonder elephants 2163
Chelsea FC 2157

There were upsets aplenty in the Division V finals with the leading contenders fluffing their lines on opening night. Squids can't post but I bet he is reading this and if he could post I'd be copping it as his Regards, REB thrashed a disappointing Straycat Strut outfit who were well beaten by a better side. In the other Qualifying final Callum's Venomous Geckos turned back the clock several months to when he was displaying his best form to thrash the Kiwi. These wins means that Regards REB and the Venomous Geckos have been promoted to Hogg Division IV next season.

The underdogs got up in both of the knockout matches with the fancied Adro's Assasins and Chelsea FC failing to get the job done. Congrats to wonder elephants and Baron Greenback for winning through to the second week of the finals when I wouldn't have backed them with Monopoly money this time last week. The wonder elephants are having their best season and if they can win their semi next week against Kiwi Krappers then they will be promoted to Hogg Division IV. Cow Pat Lotto got the drop on Adro who scored so well all season long only to stink up the joint in the finals.

Even though my boys were well beaten in week one I reckon the Strutties can hit back with a possible rematch against Regards to decide the flag. However, as we have seen in this comp, favouritism means bugger all.

Division V Semi Finals Preview

1st Semi Final 1 - Straycat Strut vs. 8 - Cow Pat Lotto

The Strutties may have dropped the ball last week against Squiddly but after looking at the Baron's lineup I'm rubbing my hands together with glee anticipating a solid victory in this week's semi final. The Pat's backline is a murder of mediocrity just waiting to be exploited by the mighty Strutties! Essendon have more of a chance of getting off scott free than Cowpat has of winning this match. After running around the Cow Pat Lotto witches hats this weekend I can prepare for the Prelim against the Geckos next week. A walk in the park as my boys will win in an absolute canter! My tip - Straycat Strut.

2nd Semi Final 3 - Kiwi Krappers vs. 6 - wonder elephants

Both of these teams do not have a history of success in the Hogg Shield but one of these two teams will earn a promotion at the end of next weekend. The Kiwi is still alive in Division V and the Bunny Bowl but there is a chance he's switched off after getting rolled our family league last weekend. If this happens then you can expect the wonder elephants to pounce on promotion. If Ibbo suits up for the Dockers this week then I reckon the elephants can charge into the Prelim next week. Side by side the elephants look the much stronger combination. My tip - wonder elephants.

Semi Final Reviews

1st Semi Final

Cow Pat Lotto 2069
Straycat Strut 2060

After dominating the minor round Straycat Strut proved to be all talk as underdogs Cow Pat Lotto won through a close Semi Final by nine points. Nine points! SOB!! The Strutties may have scored over 3000 more points than Cow Pat this year but were always running behind the clock after a tardy start to this match. On the Sunday Strut had to make up a massive amount of points and despite the best efforts of Liberatore, Minson and JP Kennedy they couldn't get the job done. Ironically one of the things that sunk the Strut was Joel Selwood. Imagine losing a final because I don't have a Cat. Also an unlikely 125 from Brisbane's Sam Mayes and 102 from Sam Docherty got the job done for the Lions man. Well done Baron you are off to Division IV and are still in the hunt for a premiership.

2nd Semi Final

wonder elephants 2176
Kiwi Krappers 2061

Another team that I thought wouldn't get too far after I beat them by 500 or so earlier in the year is the wonder elephants but they'll be suiting up next week while my mob sits it out. They defeated the Kiwi by 115 points after both teams had very similar performers across the board. The big difference as with many teams this week was Dustin Martin. The Kiwi had Dustin Martin and his 25 meant that he couldn't capitalise on an elephant donut after they put two emergencies on the midfield and Colqhuon failed to play for Port. The Kiwi had a lot of guys fail to make 70 while most of the elephants got to high eighties early nineties. This means that the wonder elephants have had a wonder year and earned their first ever promotion as they have gone up to Hogg Division IV.

Division V Prelim Previews

1st Preliminary Final 4 - Regards, REB vs. 6 - wonder elephants

Earlier in the season Squidly was a shattered man when he was defeated by the seemingly inferior wonder elephants. Since then Regards has hung about but the wonder elephants have grown in stature quite considerably. After seeing his rival Straycat Strut go down the gurgler in straight sets it would be quite galling for Squiddley if wonder elephants could record a second win over his team and thus prevent qualification for the Champions League next season. Regards has a few issues in the backline as most coaches do this weekend but look very solid in the midfield. In the Ruck Luenberger and Jacobs represent a double that could dominate or fail entirely. Ibbotson aside, the elephants look better in defence but the elephant midfield doesn't look anywhere near as strong as Regards. Elephants look slightly better up front and clearly better in the ruck but the points in this game come from midfielders. If Tom Mitchell doesn't play this week the wonder elephants are in a bit of bother. My tip - Regards, REB.

2nd Preliminary Final 2 - Venomous Geckos vs. 8 - Cow Pat Lotto

Like wonder elephants, Cow Pat Lotto weren't supposed to go this deep into the finals but they have knocked off two pretty strong sides in Adro's Assasins and Straycat Strut to get here. The Venomous Geckos had perhaps the easiest final of the lot disposing of Kiwi Krappers who didn't fire a shot either in the major round. Having said that, the Geckos scored a mighty score in the first week in the finals and deserve to go in favourites against the Baron. The injury to Dyson Heppell is a blow to the Geckos and a potential donut looms if the Geckos are as tradeless as the Cow Pat. Apart from perhaps Jacobs in the Ruck though that is about the only weakness in the Venomous Geckos lineup. The Cow Pats got into this game because his army of unheralded Lions all fired. Can he expect the same powerhouse scoring from Docherty and Mayes? With no trades left Docherty has to play and I can't see these two blokes performing the same scoring as last week. Even if Callum cops a donut for Heppell, he can still get the job done here. My Tip - Venomous Geckos.
