Round 5 of the home and away games will have some interesting affects on scores with two of the easybeats GCS and GWS playing each other with only Buddy having an opportunity for a night out against the other uncompetitive team in Melbourne, but everyone except the Cobras and now the Beasts has him anyway.
With teams either holding on to trades to wait to maximise the cash cows potential or some teams scrambling to produce competitive scores and remain in the hunt so using early trades to fix holes in their teams. This round I believe will have some interesting results, in fact I am predicting that only one team will be unbeaten at the end of this round and thus compressing the ladder.
Having a look through some of the teams this week it is interesting seeing how the 1 Premium Ruck and 3 rookie strategy has worked out particularly if the one gun was Mummy and then traded into Sandy lots of donuts because of the non playing rookies.
Five of us have to make the decision on Goodes this week as well.
The other big question is will Gablett return??

Cossi seems to have acquired his mojo back but he does have a lot of rookies holding up the midfield with only 2 points separated him from Les’s Men last week it will be close however, I think Les’s nearly complete midfield should cover for his weak forward line and score enough to win this clash.

The Crows from the USA whilst winning each week seem to be resting on their laurels and probably saving trades come up against Slimshady who’s scores have been improving and should knock off the Crows this week if Sandy makes it back.

The Manbearpigs from Marion should recover from their surprise loss last week and do enough to edge out the Heroes who are waiting patiently for their midfield cows to moo.

DunKZKrew seems to have slipped and fallen last week and this should be enough for the Beasts to pounce to put a win between them and the Krew, although this may be the round that the Beasts may regret dumping Buddy.

Puoplolo Potenza is having the same start as his namesake and taking a while to get going and I think should be easy pickings for the Lions this week.

Whilst the Badgers put up its first win last week in a do or die effort, I think will splutter to a halt against Ron’s Rumcoks who are also desperate sitting on only the one win.

Has Been has started to show some of last years form and I think will destroy a cashed up Ablett less Bulldogs to give them their first loss.

The Spuds with Josh Kennedy and Sidebottom added to their squad will be too good for FootyLedgens who have added Scotland and Waite and replaced Ablett with Murphy.

Buddy should romp home in the last with the Cobras still waiting for a sign from the Coach from over the horizon.

Looks like a heap of sides will push for 2400

Tips are looking good Alaska , hope you only get 8 though! ;)

Rumcoks need 248SC from Bower & Kreuzer to win.

Honey Badgers will start favourites, but would not be surprised to see Kruezer smash out a PB tonight against Kosi....

Yes, I just looked the tips and reckon the Badgers have it in the bag your trades have improved the side and some of your core group finally are coming good. I was laughing with Will yesterday that after Mummy, Sandy then we saw H Mac go down we thought.............. but no Ryder! :D

Not too much to say here but if you are in this league, check out my lad Cub's FOOTYLEDGENS combination. If he has one of your players TRADE HIM OUT. Boyd - having a pretty ordinary year. Nick Nat - Injured. Priddis - Injured. He brought in McIntosh - Thanks son there goes my ruckman. Fisher - Injured. The kid is a jinx. You've been warned.

At the other end of the ladder Les's Men continue on their winning ways. They are unbeaten in Division I and in Hogg Champions League which is a massive effort I reckon. He might be ranked 13 in the points but when it comes to head to head - Les is king!

Review
8 out of 9 picks right last week, with only the Badgers upsetting the applecart. I wish I could have done that in the work tipping competition.
Some big scores from the two leading heavy weights in Les’s Men and Has Been who have now been given early favouritism for the top two spots. The rest of us are going to have to work hard to secure a spot in the 8 as the competition tightens up, some early wins may prove very important.

Round 6
The Crows who have been coasting now find they are a couple of hundred points short of the top tier and will need to start upgrading going into the byes to try to win some more games, Les’s Men will be to tough in this weeks matchup.

Cossi who was beaten by Les last week now confronts the Heroes who appear a 60 to 80 point better team on paper so should win.

SlimShady after their unexpected loss to the Beasts in Round 3 now look to be firing on all cylinders and should account for DunksKrew.

The Pigs from Marion take on the Lions from Longwood who are now three weeks into their upgrading strategy and should sneak ahead as a result.

The Honey Badgers have been trading vigorously and now seem to have a competitive top four team and should account for the Beasts.

The Bulldogs who are still sitting on heaps of cash should be too good for the Potenza who still need to sort out some underperforming and injured players.

Ron’s hapless Rumcoks run up against the in form Spuds who I suspect will put him to the sword and leave the Gincoks on only 1 win and leaving us with little faith in an apparently statistically good team, that doesn’t seem to get over the line on match day.

Has Been has stepped up a notch and looks to have Buddy’s measure here based on last weeks results.

The last game of the round pits the boy against his uncle so I am sure there will be lots on this for bragging rights. FootyLedgens has had some well documented injury and form trouble but I think they should be mostly back and firing this week and his team has more guns that should fire than Cobras who appear to have their skipper back in dock, so at least should minimise the donuts.

Could go either way like last weeks HCL match up.
Had to do some crazyness to get a side on the park this week. Hopefully there's no late withdrawels...

Yeah Cox got a big boost to his initial score on fanfooty. Pretty happy I wasnt up by 3 points before his score was adjusted :)

-That was until I remembered I picked Ellis as an emergency over Spurr.

And Spurr scored 16 more points than Ellis....

Only 6 out of 9 this week in a high scoring round with the Badgers going down to the rejuvenated Beasts by 15 points, Buddy able to roll Has Been in a close one and the Cub not able to get up against his uncle and the Cobras grabbing a valuable win. Les’s Men continue to dominate the competition on top and punch out the highest score for the round.
No changes in or out of the 8 this week with a clear delineation on wins defining that point. This puts pressure on those in the 8 to keep winning.
Poor old Ron as predicted still cannot do anything right not quite getting the chocolates with the Rumcoks still sitting on 1 win.
I think we cannot make a call on the 8 until after the bye rounds that start after 2 weeks. The bye strategies will be many and varied and so selections will be difficult.
Murphy, Swan and Stanley will cause headaches for players in the coming weeks at this critical stage prior to the byes.

I cant take a trick- was on a flight home from sydney friday evening, landed at 7.10 and logged in a 7.20- to find it locked out. I thought it was a 7.40 game Friday night!

Might need to look again at the highest score for the round alaska... 2525 to my bullies...

What is everyone's bye strategy? I'm not changing my approach, setting up for a tilt in september so if I lose all three so be it!

Sorry Nuggety I missed that one, great score of over 2500, showing you are spending some of that cash and reaping the benefits.
My bye strategy has been and will continue based on this league in that I play Les’s Men in the first bye and I will tank (currently 15 out) and give him that one but should be competitive for the other two.

Round 7
To trade out Murphy or Swan or both is the big question this week and could make the difference between winning and losing in this Division for the next couple of weeks before the byes.
Interestingly that this will not affect the two in form guns in Les’s Men and Boongas Bulldogs who will go about their strategy uninterrupted by these injuries.

Les’s Men is looking at 7 wins to start the season which would equate to the total number of wins he had for the minor round last year in Div 3. This landed him in 8th spot and he went on to take out the flag from there. They have been in a rich vein of form and should beat the Heroes this week.

The Denver Crows seem to have fallen asleep whilst waiting for their Cows to moo but should be strong enough to trounce DunkzKrew this week.

Cossi’s Carnts needs to make up 300pts on the Lions this week and that seems too high a mountain to climb and will suffer their third defeat in a row.

Slimshady DTC is getting back to 2010 form where they won the Hogg Premier cup, but meet the top ranked team of 2011 the Honey Badgers in a brutal battle that will be close but with Slim having both Swan and Murphy I predict will mean defeat.

The Bullies should keep second spot by beating the hapless Pigs who have done nothing wrong but sit at 3 wins and 3 losses.

The next game sees traditional rivals The Spuds and the Beasts battle it out in a close one they played each other in the Div 2 Grand Final in 2010 with the Beasts winning that encounter, both were Div 1 teams last year with the Beasts playing in the finals. However I predict the Spuds to just get up with the Beasts regretting their Ablett to Swan trade and getting rid of Buddy earlier.

Buddy Franklin have returned to top form and should account for the Potenza who need to concentrate more on their strategies rather than flying off to Sydney at important times during the season

Shirley Rumcoks can drag out a win this week against the Cobras who have one more win than them?

Has Been will be smarting after last weeks loss to Buddy and will trample the FootyLedgens who do not seem to be able to buy points this year.

Don't be so sure about that one... These games are always close. We were Div III together and he beat me in the prelim that year, then in Div II last year I beat him in the season and he knocked me out of the finals...

So going by that I reckon I'll win this one and hope we don't meet come September action!!!

Yes I hope we have both learned our lessons from last year he also knocked me out in the preliminary final. :(
Although some horrible coincidences are already appearing last year at this time we were top 4 and he was struggling outside the 8.
