I'm not convinced it will be for the better. The English Premier League Fantasy competition does 1 free transfer a week and if you do not use it it rolls into the following week and you can have 2 but no more than 2 free transfers a week. Every trade after the 1 or 2 then costs you points off your score. So you can trade your whole side it will just cost you points. You also get 2 wildcards throughout the season to use which allows you to make unlimited trades at no cost. I guess this system works good for the EPL as games get postponed and some teams don't play certain weeks if they are running deep into a FA Cup etc.

I'm not a fan of it. There is no need for two trades per week. A lot of people (the serious players) won't use them I don't think but will be interesting to see how it goes.

looks that way. SC are going 30 trades with a rolling lockout and DT are going 44 trades and lockout every friday.

Dream Team is now called AFL Fantasy.

New trading rules for AFL Fantasy

AFL FANTASY coaches will be allowed to make two trades a week, every round this season.

The change gives coaches a maximum of 46 trades, up from 24 in 2012.

However, with trades still limited to two per round, they cannot be saved up for later use.

The increased number of trades is one of several changes to the AFL's official fantasy game.

The field structure has also been altered, with gameday squads now featuring six defenders, eight midfielders, two ruckmen and six forwards.

In previous seasons it has been seven-six-two-seven.

And coaches will also be allowed to set four emergencies each round, up from three in past seasons.

This gives teams the ability to cover for late changes on every line – backs, midfield, rucks and forwards – for the first time in the game's history.

By popular demand, the green dot has been reinstated, giving coaches an easy snapshot of the ins and outs for their team every Thursday night.

Unlike its major competitor, AFL Fantasy will not introduce a rolling lockout, with teams to be locked at the bounce of the first game of each round.

This allows coaches the freedom to set their team for the weekend without having to worry about checking back before every match for late changes.

this came up on my facebook news feed this morning:

SuperCoach Paige
If you're contemplating picking Natham Vardy, it's been leaked that he'll be playing as a full time forward this season, as James Podsiadly will be sent to play in defence for the cats.

If Pods goes to defence it will be for the Cats in the VFL. Vardy will ruck cos McIntosh will play 6 games max.

They will be used just to accumulate cash.
Rookies going up in price will be extremely popular.
You could also use it to pick the best midfielder/forward against the worst team every week as a rotation.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

I used that strategy picking captains most weeks last year against GC/GWS Melb/Port and it rarely worked. The top players seemed to take it a bit easy or got subbed out of the game a few times to avoid injury I assume.

With so many trades on offer in 2013 a big chunk of the strategy involved in playing Dream Team goes out the door. A lot of teams are going to look the same as everyone tries to trade up to the top premiums I reckon.

So they changed the rules for noobs that did not have the control to resist making trades every week. Punishing people that have some idea of trading strategy, cash cows etc. I for one will not be playing this year.

DT takes a step backwards, SC a step forwards! 8)

Supercoach is extending its draft game this year. The draft game is all about playing between a small group like school or work colleagues. Users will be able to customise leagues including how many teams in each league, how many players in each team, they can disable rolling lockout and even determine whether there are finals and head to head games. A cool feature they have added is that you can choose when and how the draft operates.

Isn't that what has happened in previous seasons?
There are no guarantees in this game however I was using it an an example of how it could be used.
Personally I would like to see a greater advantage given to people who speculate on a player who comes good rather than every Tom, Dick & Harry jumping on in week 3 when the player has the spike in salary.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Well that makes a starting ruck decision a little easier...
