Only 5 correct tips this week. As predicted the Cowboys remain undefeated on top of the ladder, so it will be interesting to read his commentary when he takes over from me in a couple of weeks (if he can appease the SA Footy Gods and gets a login). Has Been and Greedy Guns also consolidated top 4 spots with good wins as expected. The Sharks jumped into the top 4 and in doing so pushed the Darksiders down to 13th spot.

White Line Fever, Crockocrack and the Fevola’s all suffered their 2nd defeat but remain in the 8. The Fevola’s had a terrible lowest score for the round and surely he cannot blame it all on the Cotchin withdrawal?

Richo Richo Man and Harrynuts had surprise losses in games that had a 300 point turn around to my predictions against cdfcdevils and The Ginger Ninjas who jump onto the same win loss ration as their vanquished opponents. Q Before You had his second win to start his move for the top 4 as expected and the Captain now remains on 2 wins as well. The Mosquitoes using a gas mask swarmed all over the toothless Lions to recover some form to record their second win. This leaves the Lions and the Hotshots on one win down the bottom of the ladder.

Consolation prize for me this week after a terrible SC round tipping 8 in the Footy Tips (Only Murphy and his Blues let me down) and picking up $100.

White Line Fever, Crockocrack and the Fevola’s all suffered their 2nd defeat but remain in the 8. The Fevola’s had a terrible lowest score for the round and surely he cannot blame it all on the Cotchin withdrawal?

Yes, if only Cotchin would have played he would have scored 500 and I would have just won! It was really just one of those rounds where ALL my more unique players performed well below expectation, and all of Has Been's more unique players did very well. Neade, Byrnes, Heath, Stevenson and Lucas being the biggest culprits for me. But with those guys having done their job and made money, I'm not too worried about my longer term prospects as they were always going to be traded out soon - the decision that will probably hurt me the most is not bringing in Vlastuin this week, as that could affect my cash generation over the next month or so.

The silly season of cow slaughter is blossoming and teams are starting to take shape. Some more injuries, the general and someone having a go at that pesky Freo midget have taken their toll this week and will impact on results.

The Cowboys have made two upgrades in SJ and Daisey also getting rid of the Hoff in the process. Daisey like the Hoff has now backfired, but they should still beat the Guns who upgraded to Heater who lost his calm and is cooling his heels this week.

Crockocrack is on the slide after losing the last two and looks to be trailing the Darksiders who whilst scoring ok, need to put wins on the board. The Darksiders should win this to put the Crack into a deeper hole.

WLF is also on the slide and is worrying about the form of Hartlett, Jacobs and Franklin, will meet a confident cdfcdevils who will welcome back the return of captain Cotchin who wasn’t needed in the win last week. The recent scores of WLF show he should get the win over the Devils but it will be close

The Sharks are looking better and better with each passing game and should take advantage of a diving Captain and take an eye, an arm and a leg to beat the Captain by 111 points.

Richo must surely be at his lowest point and will need to do some inspired trading in order to extract himself from the mire he has made for himself. Whereas the Spuds (who thrive in mire) should be able to put one win between them that will be important later in the season.

Its official the Q is out of the bottle and on the charge, he is the form team of the competition and meets a resurgent Mosquitoes fresh from their blood sucking destruction of the Lions. This should be a good game as only 4 points separated them last week. I have confidence in Q to improve a little more and down the Miller’s.

The Hotshots came down with a bang last week after their break through win the week before and need to go back to that long run, to build up confidence again, they host Harry who unexpectedly had his nutts sliced by the Ninjas last week and needs to curl up and recover for a while in the corner. Once rehab has been completed then Harrynutts should be able to freeze the Hotshots out for a win.

Two Bankers meet in the next game but it is 2nd v 17th and 300 point difference in the last game. Even with some sabotage of two of Has Been’s three upgrades of Heater, Daisey and SJ the Lions hold little chance as they cash in cows for upgrades next week. Has Been to win.

Those red Ninjas with fresh groin blood dripping from their blades and with Birchall and Bartel strengthening their line-up are hunting Fevola’s whose upgrades of Heater and Daisey have backfired and left them at the mercy of the samurai, who will extract more than just ecky from Fevola.

Despite three close games, I recorded 7 tips correct this week. The Rack City Cowboys with the league’s highest score thrashed Greedy Guns by over 300 points and thus handing them their second loss for the season. Has Been hang onto 2nd spot by defeating the Lions (sans Captain Boak) by 2 points. White line fever and Ecky’s Fevolas remained on 4 wins safely in the 8.

There are seven teams on 3 wins and 3 losses with 5 of them (Harrynutts, Captain Who?, Darksiders, Spuds and Q Before You) winning this week to make the fight for the eight tight. The Sharks failed to capture the Captain, who returned to top form. Crockocrack have now lost 3 in a row and are looking in trouble as they slide down the ladder.

Richo Richo Man despite a valiant attempt lost by 20 points to the Spuds and remain one win out of contention. In another close contest Miller fell 9 points short of Q and could not maintain the resurrection. The Ninja’s despite last week’s good showing fell back to their old ways and failed along with the Hotshots and the cdfcdevils.

This looks to be the most interesting round yet for this league. Looking at the ladder it should be cut and dried in the tipping, but I predict that will not be the case, coaches are fervently upgrading, wins now will be very important for maintaining ladder position. I think there will be many close games and hard luck stories will abound.

Shaw comes back in to help those teams that have upgraded to him recently, but Daisey is out for 4 months so some trades were wasted there. Pittard and Viney are still a few away. Franklin has admitted that goals are not his main key performance indicator and that he is acting more of a decoy for Hale and Roughy, so super coach points will be affected accordingly. I don’t know when Hawthorn can inject life back into Birchall but he is killing his coaches at the moment. Will Gibbs be back? Will Hartlett only return to form when Trengove returns? Good news, Jacobs and Roughy seem to be getting back into the groove and Dangerfield has recovered from his scoring slump.

The main issue for coaches seems to be the lack of rookies to cash the cows in for, to generate that dough for upgrades. This will impact teams late in the season when the guns start getting rested trades are at a premium and your bench is full of non-playing rookies.

The young upstart Rack City who is sitting pretty on top takes on the Premier League veteran in the Darksiders. The Darksiders, currently sitting second in the Hogg have a formidable midfield that should worry the Cowboys who will have to use another trade to get Daisey out and there is no guarantee on SJ turning up. However I tip the Cowboys to remain unbeaten.

Greedy Guns having suffered their second loss to the Cowboys last week will want to get back on the horse at cdfcdevils expense this week. I tip the Guns to win using their new recruit in Hodge to get the job done.

Captain Who? have maintained a consistent scoreline recently and play Crockocrack who are struggling for form. The Captain should make a couple more upgrades this week and should easily smooth over the Crack.

White Line Fever returned to the winners list last week but I get the feeling they are playing catch up and will struggle against the stronger sides and The Spuds are consistently scoring better at this stage and should get up.

The Sharks embarrassed me last week with their bad loss now meet the resurrected Mosquitoes who once again are scoring better at this stage of the season so it will be Miller time again.

Richo Richo Man still looks 100 points short of being regularly competitive and will be trading hard to try to decrease the gap. However, Harrynutts although inconsistent looks to have the Man’s measure and should win.

In the match of the round Q Before You, trying to continue his recovery from a bad start takes on Has Been. Both teams brought in Priddis last week and the Q brought in Franklin, Has Been tried Daisey as an upgrade and will now have to waste another trade to get him out. Has Been the Hogg leader look too good and should conquer the Q.

The Fevolas are still struggling for form but accounted for the Ninjas last week and meet the Hotshots who are besieged in this competition, Ecky should post another win.

The Lions who have had Captain problems all season have bitten the bullet this week and plan to tear the Red Ninjas to pieces who despite their upgrade to Josh Kennedy last week appear to still be suffering with the lack of form from some of their POD’s this season. Lions by plenty as a springboard to start a winning streak that should continue no matter where the Coach is located.

League 242 of 31547

Unlucky teams this week were the Darksiders going down by 7 to the Hotshots and Ginger going down by 4 to the Captain. Has Been obviously on a slide was lucky to beat the Mosquitoes with a sub 2k score. Cdfcdevils put up a competitive 2227 but continued their losing streak to make it 5 in a row.

Big movers while I was away were, Q Before You 11th to 2nd, Sharks 8th to 3rd, Spuds 10th to 7th, Ecky's Fevolas 5th to 10th, Greedy Guns 4th to 12th and White Line Fever 3rd to 13th. Rack City Cowboys have cemented top spot 3 wins clear, but the fight for the remaining spots in the eight is still on for 13 teams.

Bad news for me was losing again over the byes but the good news is I now have lots of trades left and the first of my upgrades boosted me this week and three more will help in the coming weeks.

Round 13 Preview

Rack City Cowboys sit atop of this league and has not been troubled whilst I was away. They still need a final upgrade to the defence and if anything looks vulnerable in the Ruck. They take on the fellow Banker team in Has Been who has slipped off their perch whilst I was away as far as home and away wins is concerned although still ranked number 5 in the Hogg for the season. They also need an upgrade in defence and also have issues with SJ and Swanny and has like myself stuck with Zorko the enigma. This should be a close match but the SJ suspension will hurt and the Cowboys should triumph.

Harrynutts and the Fevolas are sitting on 6 wins apiece so this is an important game for both to win. Harry seems to have used most of his trades to be fully upgraded and will be sweating on Mundy and Murphy with SJ out and hoping on an improvement from Zorko. Whereas Ecky still has a couple of spots to fill and now has Boyd on the sidelines as well as SJ. Harry should win to keep his spot in the 8.

Down the bottom end of the table the unlucky Ninjas from last week take on the Mosquitoes who must also be on leave as their team should be scoring better than they are, they have not been concentrating on their team as much as previous seasons and it shows on the scoreboard, however if they do look at their team this week they should get up.

The Spuds seem to be playing catch up this year particularly in the Ruck and have taken some time and a number of trades to finally come up with a decent ruck combination. They take on the Lions who I am bullish about, with another Forward upgrade this week they look to be stronger than in the close fought victory in Premier League earlier this year and should again prevail.

Captain Who? Take on the Hotshots fresh from their surprise victory last week but still look undermanned and the Captain should salute.

Looking at Q’s team he still has plenty of fat in the paddock so he will only improve from here as he frees up more cash on every line to strengthen his team for the finals. He should defeat the cdfcdevils but they did score more last round so expect it to be close.

The Darksiders on 7 wins take on Richo on 6 wins in another crucial matchup. I like the remodelling that Richo has done to his midfield but it must have cost some trades. The Darksiders have taken a risk v reward approach for some of his uniques and that could come back to bite him as he is without SJ this week and that could be the difference, Richo to end up victorious.

The Sharks having moved into the top 4 should cement their spot as they take on Greedy Guns who have slipped to 12th on 6 wins and seem to be slipping away.

Another important game for finals contention should see WLF knocked off by Crockocrack although both on 6 wins apiece WLF does not have the on field “presence” to ensure a competitive score most weeks.

Round 13 Review

7 out of 9 tips correct this week with only the Cowboys and Richo letting me down.
In a high quality clash of team mates Has Been returned to the winners list shaking the SJ suspension and ensuring they kept their spot in the top 4 by knocking off the League leader Cowboys, who return from Melbourne today with their tail between their legs after a bad week of football trying to counteract the “CURSE”.

Harrynuts with his fully upgraded team had a comfortable win over Ecky. The Mosquitoes did return and updated their team which was fortunate with a good close game against the Ninjas who ended up on the wrong side of the ledger again. The Lions with bad captaincy choice and Jobe’s early out were lucky against the Spuds and remain a faint hope of finals although they are going to have to beat the top two teams to get there.

The Captain had an easy win over the Hotshots who really felt the excess precipitation and turned to wet squibs in the moisture this weekend. Q Came out with the score of the week and really sounded a warning call to all other competitors that with his current team and trades remaining he has moved into favouritism for this league. Unfortunately the cdfcdevils felt his wrath this week.

The Darksiders using the power of the darkside enabling a two captain strategy and covering for the SJ suspension were too good for Richo Richo Man who is now 1 win out of the 8. The sharks cemented their spot in the top 4 with their ninth win for the year and despatched Greedy Guns who could not raise 2000 this week. The other team struggling at the moment to make 2000 is WLF and Crockocrack took full toll and as a result grabbed 8th spot.

Will Gaz and NRoo be back? Will Stanton and Nic Nat play? Will Rioli, SJ, Pav and Sandi explode? Who are you going to replace Boyd or Watson with? Does Beams become another instant super premium, that would be good to have as a POD? What are you going to do with your “Gun” that is underperforming? These are the questions Supercoaches are pondering this week.

In the Champions league we have a number of make or break games this week that will determine some teams seasons. The Fevolas after their close loss against the Spuds two weeks ago lost again last week leaving them on 6 wins, and now need to win to keep up with the pack and have a chance of playing finals. Perhaps this is the week but they face the League leaders Rack City who will be smarting after their loss to teammate Has Been last week. A lot will depend on what Ecky does with Boyd and whether SJ goes ballistic against Melbourne. I am tipping the SJ detonation and a smart trade to enable Ecky to win, just.

Fresh from his win last week and back on track Has Been should not have too much trouble with the erratic Ninjas and maintain his spot in the top 4.

The Lions with a decision on Watson take on Harrynutts who will be welcoming back SJ and worrying about Nic Nat. I am not confident in this matchup but it is a must win so I hope the Lions get up by a couple.

The Mosquitoes responded well last week and shouldn’t have any troubles with the Hotshots who once again have struggled to be competitive.

Q is riding the wave and should be able to knock off the Spuds whose POD’s have not been performing as well as the coach has expected.

The Captain has 8 wins and looks too good for Richo Richo who has 6 wins but will be once again worrying about his Defence and as many others do “What to do with Jacobs?”

The Sharks are cruising through on 8 wins and are looking for another victim and this week it will be the cdfcdevils who have struggled in this league this season.

The Darksiders now using the power of the darkside although only one win ahead of WLF should easily account for them and put to rest any chance they have of participating in finals.

Greedy Guns is another team on the edge with 6 wins and need to beat Crockocrack for a shot at the finals but their scores in recent times suggest they will be 200 points shy of a win.

As a result of all that, there shouldn’t be any change in the top 8 this week but it will make it harder for any on the cusp to break in.

Still only 6 right this week so my tipping is as bad as my coaching.

SJ did go off and this helped a couple of coaches get over the line but that risk reward strategy may have the downside this week if he gets some more time out.
Ecky’s Fevolas certainly used SJ to their advantage and as predicted had a narrow 16 point win over the ladder leaders Rack City Cowboys.

The Sharks and Has Been had good wins over the cdfcdevils and the Ninjas to take 2nd and 3rd spot.
Q drops to 4th after being beaten by the Spuds who keep their finals hopes alive and are just percentage out of the 8.

The Captain was the other top 8 team to drop a game by 19 points to Richo Richo who also kept his finals hopes alive and is one win out of the 8.
Darksiders had a percentage boosting win that sees them knocking on the top 4 with 9 wins.

Harrynutts and Crockocrack had wins to stay in the 8 and put paid to the finals aspirations of the Lions and Greedy Guns.

In the final game the Mosquitoes swarmed all over the Hotshots to have a good percentage boosting victory although too late to make a charge at a finals spot.

So my take on it is there is now 11 trying to vie for a finals spot and the Top 4 spots are up for grabs.

SJ is out again he doesn’t need the general to take the sidelines and would be frustrating those coaches that have taken the risk. Perhaps he has taken on the votes by coaches this season as being one that is likely to succeed as a coach and is starting early? Also those coaches with Dangerfield and Corns will be disadvantaged this week and with Franklin no certainty this could make or break them.

The sadly out of form Cowboys need a punching bag to get them back on the horse and I think they have found one in the Ninjas who have struggled this season and sit at the bottom of the table. Rack City to win and remain in top spot.

The Fevolas fresh from knocking off the Cowboys last week whilst keeping Boyd on the bench take on a wilier customer this week in the Cowboys father and without SJ will struggle and allow a Lions win I hope.

Has Been even without SJ should be able to account for the Hotshots so long as they are not using the same supply chain process as the Treasury Wine group. The Hotshots have been putting up worse scores in the last few weeks than they were before the byes so something has gone wrong with their upgrade strategy.

The all-conquering Harrynutts will lose SJ again this week and looking at form when this occurs he drops games and Q has enough depth to make him pay.

Another to benefit from the SJ out is Richo Richo Man who takes on the Mosquitoes whose fate of recent times seems also linked to the Key Cat, therefore a Richo victory is nigh.

The Spuds should buy a lottery ticket this week as Spiro must of stepped on a black cat not only does he have SJ and Dangerfield out he has Burgoyne and Moloney as well so the sharks will end their winning streak and give the Spuds another shot at the 8.

The Captain even without the Danger man et al should be too good for White Line Fever who is fast dropping off the pace.

Crockocrack grimly holding onto 8th spot should be able to defeat the cdfcdevils who have not been able to handle the pressure of this league with only 3 wins.

The Darkside and Greedy Guns both have issues with SJ and Dangerfield but the Guns have lost their powder in recent times and the Darkside should triumph.
