Some good scores coming out at the business end of the season now, 6 scores plus 2000, five others over 1900. Even the bottom of the table Strawb (1524) and Emu Farmers (1320) put on a comparatively high scoring encounter, and Kiss My Asp (1491) was behind the improving Strawb on points.
How the mighty have fallen, the previously unbeatable TEDS have become nearly the pretenders of the competition, forgetting that tanking in this comp doesn't get you very far. Red Cans (2131) narrowly edged out Honey Badgers (2127) for the high score of the round, those two performers firmly double chance favourites now.
Match of the round was a surprise, Ankles United keeping their finals hopes alive with a 35 point win over my useless mob of wankers. That's nine on the trot I've lost!
The top seven (OWW, TEDS, Red Cans, Honey Badgers, Cossi's, Tigermad and Longwood Lions) are virtually assured of finals now, it would take two shocking losses for Longwood to drop out, and the others are certs. Brodlach sits at number 8, one win clear of the 9th and 10th. Should Longwood and Brodlach lose their next two, Ankles and The Bloods are the two that could fight it out to get in there.
On the other end, RobSquad's late surge was too little too late, they've about peaked on the ladder, whilst Wonder Elephants and Money Brawl have recorded a credible six wins. Hollands Heroes (5), Kiss My Asp (4 and a draw) and Finger Banging (4), were disappointing, and Strawberries (1 win) and Emu Farmers (winless), will be looking for marked improvement in Div II 2013, or they will again be at the arse end of the ladder.
Round 18 fixture:
Honey Badgers v Longwood Lions- Week after week I have counted Longwood out, and he is there, 10 wins, and a likely finals starter, but he does clash with Honey Badgers this week, on the same number of points, but fourth via percentage. I've got your back this week Longy, and I'll tip ya.
Brodlach Bombers v The Bloods- An oft used term in football rhetoric, but this is a must win game for The Bloods, or they are out of finals contention altogether. Both 4-1 in their last five, Brodlach only one win more all season, but like the 2011 Crows, I am backing him to scrap and scrape his way through in a low scorer to sink Bloods finals aspirations.
TEDS v RobSquad- Conceivably TEDS can finish third after this encounter, should Rob Squad win. TEDS have been on a slippery slope, and Rob Squad has been consistently been playing the role of the spoiler in the last few weeks. I am backing him to grab his biggest scalp, and embarrass the failing fantasy guru.
Hollands Heroes v OWW- Straight forward, OWW consolidates their top spot here.
Money Brawl v Red Cans- Stats say Red Cans get up, but Money Brawl has been the other spoiler in this comp, and if anyone will plant one on the chin of the Red Cans just out from finals, it is the Brawlers.
Wonder Elephants v Emu Farmers- Wonder Elephants, even sitting twelfth, are light years ahead of the Farmers. Biggest blow out of the round here.
Cossi's Carnts v Ankles United- Cossi wins, despite strong form from the Ankly ones.
Strawberries v Kiss My Asp- Strawb scored more than Asp last start, and he might just snake two in a row here to end the season solidly.
Finger Banging v Tigermad- Tigermad gets up, I lose 11 in a row, Tiger's %age pushing him up nearly as high as fourth.
Not much is likely to change in the scheme of things this round, just a few places shored up.

With 2 hard games for CFC in the last 2 rounds wins are worth double in their quest to stay alive, No Spit on the other hand will be keeping one eye on top spot should the Beens slip a game.
