REB I'm considering taking a donut into our match ... short term pain for long term gain!

But I'll consider during the day. It's because I can't decide on my Chornes replacement and, with Sam Gilbert back, I would prefer to have another look at Luke Hodge.

Dunno ... it's a HUGE game this week so may have to bite the bullet and pick someone else!

Short term pain for long term gain, I totally agree Hondo. It's what I'll be doing this week, if I cop a loss then so be it.

No trades this week, Rioli and C Cornes still on the bench, but if there are no late withdrawals I should still have a full side.

B: Gilbee, Gilbert, Newman
HB: S Hill, Mackie, Hurn
C: Bartel, Goodes, K Cornes
HF: S Johnson, Pavlich, J Brown
F: Giansiracusa, Walker, Didak
R: Cox, Judd, J Selwood

I/C: Broughton, Rich, McIntosh, Ziebell

Some concerns with rookies there, Walker especially. Still undecided on a captain as yet. Selwood has had that role since I foolishly traded out Ablett and while he is scoring 100+ every week, I'm unsure whether to take a risk on someone who may score +150. My opponent does not have Ablett so it may not be necessary to seek those few extra points.

Ive traded out Rioli and put in Didak, Didak is good value and if stay injury free should have a great 2nd half of the year

Im expecting the Darwin game to be a free flowing, high point scoring game, based on the last 2 games up there, Id expect SC teams full of Bullies and Port players to do well 8)

REB - still dont inderstand the relevance of that ladder, surely all you have to do each week is beat your opponent?

Just a statistical indicator Dutchy. I agree, all you have to do is beat your opponent but I've noticed you've gone from top to just hanging in the top eight. Maybe scoring points might prove to be beneficial after all eh? ;)

It also allows you to measure yourself against teams from other leagues.

This week = disaster :( Ziebell, Buddy and Muston scored 60 between them.

Ziebell will now drop $30K to top it off - I almost upgraded him to Ryan O'Keefe but thought I'd give him another go to see if he could lift his price a bit. Great decision.

The REBCats will smash me.

And if ROK has a good one next week his price will rise. I got rid of Ziebell some time ago and I've milked him and a few other cash cows including Krak, Walker, Robinson and Sidebottom. Towards the end of the year I'll offload Dawson and pick up an extra gun for the finals. Muston hasn't scored squat since I've got him but he has allowed me to pick up Cooney so he can sit the bench and hopefully he can get a gig till the Pies start playing Beams again.

It ranks up there with my decision to get Buddy instead of ROK a few weeks ago.

I think the Coon-dog will join my team too next round. Muston has been a major disappointment.

The REBCats smashed me by close to 300 points  :(

I was relieved to get close to 2000 (1948) in the end as it was a disasterous first 5 games for me.

Well played REB I hope we get a rematch later on in the season!

Pup, Mackie is making me tear my hair out too. In my team he's now my 7th defender after Broughton.

The Mackie woes continue. Worst thing is that his price has dropped so low that there is little benefit of making a sideways trade, just gotta hope he comes good :ympray:

The ladder is really starting to sort itself out now in Hogg Premier with the players who had a lot to do with that sorting being the despised Andrew Mackie and the excruciating Buddy Franklin who racked up a mere 67 points between them on the weekend. Another crushing blow to some trade-poor coaches is the demise of Jack Ziebell who will most likely miss the remainder of the season with his leg injury. In Round 9 there were several VERY close matches with the unlucky teams to miss out by ten points or less being Mr Football, wonder elephants and It Hurts so Bad who lost by only two points. Mate, that's a bit rude! GordonBlues continues to lead the comp because quite clearly he's been kissed on the.....has had the luck of the Irish. I reckon I have had him covered for about nine of the ten weeks but not when I played the jammy bastard. That for me makes this Hogg wide open despite the unbeaten nature of the ladder leader. This week's big clash (I can modestly report  ) is between Black Magic SCE and the REBCats with the loser of this game being the vulnerable coach in the top four. For those fighting to make the eight Poon Army is the one to knock out and there are four sides also on 4-5 who will be aiming to do just that. The bottom four already looked to be lost at sea with the wonder elephants being the most surprising member of that quartet.

There has been an allmighty shake up in this league with three bottom eight sides climbing into the top eight and not one but two former top sides sliding into the bottom half of the league. In the game of the round WYCBLOODS won the battle of the brothers and as a result CoverKing now finds themselves out of the top four after playing off for top spot a couple of weeks ago. Supre Cil Dlouhs struck again and knocked Dutchys Dodos out of the top eight while the Manbaggers and Leisa's Lovelies made an appearance in the top eight after picking off a couple of the lame ducks who sit in the bottom four. No real 'blockbusters' to speak of in Division I to speak of this weeek but the match between the slow starting WYCBLOODS and The Manbaggers is a crucial one for the Bloods if he is to stay in touch with the top eight. Dutchys Dodos face a tough battle to get back in the eight as they take on league heavyweight Q Before You who has one Hogg already and has said 'thank you sir may I have another'! The bookies have smac at a zillion to one to defeat Darcy this week so Darc might yet put on twenty cents and then throw the game ha ha. What a collect!

cobra's vs holland's heros

Hondos Hard Nuts have cracked as a result of back to back defeats against REB and REB Jnr and the Nuts have now dropped to third and holland's heros is the new team that leads the pack in Hogg Division II. Meanwhile, Lesia's Lovelies and Jacks Stars have been starting to pick up some good form and these two sides play off this week. If the Stars could win this one that would be an impressive hatrick of wins that could get her into the finals. Another team that is ready to strike is the cobra's who cleaned up Gibbo's underdogs and is making a strong claim to the top four after a shaky start to the season. The cobra's have been racking up some good scores in the last five or six weeks and will prove a handful come August and his clash with the ladder leaders is the big match of the round this week.
