Crashed and burned in the last 3 weeks with carnage in defence :(
Injuries + dud scores = fail.
Also went from top in Pineapple 3 weeks ago to barely scraping into the finals.

Hogg Premier Finals Preview Week 1

1st Qualifying Final – Captain Who? v Texas Danger SSC

Both of these sides are very evenly matched overall so this one will tough to predict seeing as I’m not like Honda in Division I and keep a track of everyone’s trades. The Captain has a simply awesome midfield but he looks a little thin down back still having Goodes in the side. He’ll need to be traded as the Texans look pretty good down back with the trendy McKenzie back there. The Texans are not as strong in the midfield and might have to play Mitchell on the field where the Captain can afford to bench him. I think that the Captain’s overall midfield strength should see him home in this one. My tip – Captain Who?

2nd Qualifying Final – Q Before You v Poon Army

Qs team only appears to have the one weakness and that is Buddy Franklin. I’d be very surprised if Q Man didn’t move Buddy on this week hoping to win this match and have next week off with plenty of trades and a gun side with which to plan his premiership assault. While I have been guilty of underestimating the Poon Army all year there are just far too many erratic performers in his line up to get the job done against Q. Poon has Marc Murphy, Staker, Burgoyne and Zorko all in his line-up and while he has some trades left he might be better off using them next week because he will be playing then. My tip – Q Before You

1st Elimination Final – Underdogs v Darksiders SCE

The Darksiders have scrambled into the finals with superior percentage and they now have to win ‘coming from behind’ as the lowest seeded team in the finals. The Darksiders are very solid at the back and awesome in midfield but the forward line contains Franklin, Staker and Naitanui so if he’s out of trades he can’t win this match. For Gibbo at the very least it will be Staker on for Franklin but Tom Mitchell might get a run for the injured Hodge. If Gibbo survives and so does Hodge in the Underdogs’ lineup, then it is fair to say Gibbo’s trades are done. I reckon Darksiders might have the trades as has the canny selection of Charlie Dixon in the backline. He will kill it against Melbourne this week and Darksiders will trade out Nick Nat so he doesn’t have to play Staker. With all that going on I reckon the Darksiders can pip the Underdogs and live to fight another day. My tip – Darksiders SCE.

2nd Elimination Final – Buddyroughhawks v Hawkeye

The all Hawthorn knock out final (the umps will be confused, won’t know who to give all the frees to) pits up finals rookie wycbloods with Woggy (occasional safooty poster Wog) who is a long time Premier coach who hasn’t made the finals in the last couple of seasons. The Buddyroughhawks look Buddy good. When Sydney’s Josh Kennedy is your worst player you’ve got a fair side. Woggy’s boys have far too many dodgy players and in this match it will be Class over ar5e. Woggy has Rowe, Franklin, Vlastuin and Lester and on paper Hawkeye can’t possibly beat Buddyrough. So sorry bloods I have to tip you in this one mate so that is Woggy’s only chance. My tip – Buddyroughhawks.

Good luck to all finalists. Some quality match ups here.

Hogg Premier Finals Week One

1st Qualifying Final
Captain Who? 2304
Texas Danger SSC 2189

2nd Qualifying Final
Q Before You 2245
Poon Army 2230

1st Elimination Final
Underdogs 2150
Darksiders SCE 2096

2nd Elimination Final
Buddyroughhawks 2301
Hawkeye 2019

The favourites got up in the Qualifying finals although the Poon Army put up a better than expected showing against a misfiring Q Man who will be happy with his 15 point victory and the week off. The Texans failed to flatter and they were flattened by the reigning premier who collected a comfortable victory. The Captain is now only two matches away from making Hogg history and being the first ever team to go back to back in Hogg Premier League.

In the Elimination Finals Woggy put a predictably pathetic performance to be a virtual walkover for an impressive Buddyroughhawks who could go on and do some damage now that he has his first ever finals win under his belt. In the other knockout final Gibbo has won her first Hogg Premier final with a low scoring win over former Premier heavyweight Darksiders who faded away rather meekly this season.

I reckon we could see a rematch of last year's Grand Final with the Captain and Q Man to square off again although I'm liking Buddyroughhawks as the best prepared team to play the role of partycrasher.

I knew I was cooked during the Saturday games with Ellis and Selwood killing it. Then with the Ablett C debacle I thought I was back in it but then McKenzie and Shaw also stank and that was the end.

I traded Priddis to Griffin and achieved nothing.

Well played.

Hogg Premier Semi Finals Preview

1st Semi Final 4 - Texas Danger SSC vs. 5 - Underdogs

The Underdogs are a proven Piglet Shield and Division I finalists but they are now in uncharted territory as this is far as any female coach has managed to go in the Hogg Shield. Standing in Gibbo's way is Hondo whose Texans were outclassed by the reigning champions in the first week of the finals. Now the Texans midfield is blue chip but he's got a real issue in the ruck with Pryder getting rubbed out. He's got Rowe and Cox on the same side of the fence and he'll need to trade to avoid a ruck donut. It will need to be someone good too as McEvoy is just going and is up against Mumford and Pyke this week in Sydney. Meanwhile, the Underdogs have issues of their own. With Clisby and Ibbotson in the backline with only Blayne Wilson as cover, a tradeless situation could mean that Hondo could wear the donut and win the game. I'm tipping that both coaches have trades but Hondo has the dollaroos to get someone who could score well, a Goldstein selection would sway this match the Texans way even if Nicholls needs to be sacrificed as well. My Tip - Texas Danger SSC.

2nd Semi Final 3 - Poon Army vs. 6 - Buddyroughhawks

wycbloods you sneaky devil! Scored bugger all early on in the year and are coming home like a train when it counts. As far as Hammo goes he's the complete opposite. He's done the Kevin Bloody Wilson trick and it could be all over before it's begun for the Army. Not all is lost for Troy though and he still has a few quivers in his bow but Buddyrough is one seriously good team at the moment. I've been bagging the Army nearly all year and with good reason. It's got me stuffed how a side with Zorko, Sandilands, Wright and Burgoyne is not only in the Premier League Semis, but ranked number 10 in the Hogg as well. I sense a trade up and Poon Army will make a game of it. Buddyrough are awesome all over the park but I'm not sold on McKenzie even though some coaches are. If that is the worst the Buddyroughhawks can serve up then Troy's trades this week will want to be good ones. My Tip - Buddyroughhawks.

Would much prefer that Daniher or Saunders weren't playing so i can have Rioli as an emergency and use his score if it is any good.

Need a 0 in the fwds or mids to get this.

REB I don't have a donut but will be forced to play Staker unless I trade

Underdogs can swap Henderson and Staker to cover her problems in defence.

Sort of, I was wondering how I would use my two trades this week. I'll see how Franklin goes as emergency tonight.
