So far, being last placed in total points, I am not doing too well.

Have finally dragged myself off the bottom of the total points ladder :-BD

The Darksiders have assumed premiership favouritism and top place on the ladder after an ominous performance in the second bye week. The Darkside pulled a hefty 2211 to smash the Honey Badgers in a real percentage booster. Another top effort this week was by Les's Men who fell two points shy of Darksiders' total as they recorded a solid win over top eight opposition in the Underdogs.

Two gun teams of last year recorded solid scores with Ben Rolfsburgers accounting for the REBCats and eddieslittleindians not having too much trouble with Captain Who? Cork in the Ocean put in their first shitter of the year so this particular bye week proved to be a difficult one for Interceptor.

TEAM_FISH recorded a sensational three point win over Hondo who can't seem to get going in this league despite some heavy scoring over the journey. Blighty now appears to have one hand on the wooden spoon with no wins so it's time to start stirring him, as he is nearly done.

I'm getting lucky in this league. Worst % in the top half, but sitting fourth.

Misfiring Q Before You have continued to astound critics and fan alike by collecting another low scoring victory in the Hogg Elite League. Even Port Power hasn't had the same afair with Lady Luck that Q has enjoyed in this league. The previously Impervious Cork in the Ocean has been a bit wobbly in the bye weeks and Q swooped on the win to nab an unlikely foothold in the top four.

Darksiders and eddieslittleindians remain the genuine article as both of these top outfits sailed through the bye period relatively unscathed. Darksiders still nearly managed to rack up 2000 with a mere seventeen scoring players so this team is going to take some stopping later on in the year.

Two teams that did manage to rack up two grand were the mighty Honey Badgers who badged the MOSQUITOES and luckily for me, the REBCats. After sledging Blighty last week coach Glenn Elliott would have had the full support of the board had Blighty Teasdale opened his account. You have to feel a bit for McAlmanac a bit, he's copped 16858 against in the eight matches, which is over 350 points more than the next worst 'defence' Hondo.

Hogg Elite coaches didn't exactly set the world on fire with some average scores being carded by the so-called best coaches in the Hogg this week. eddieslittleindians managed to rack up a competitive score though as they accounted for the highly rated Rolfsburgers who have been good this year, but not as good as last year's stellar debut.

In fact, all of the top teams got the job done last week with Darksiders, Underdogs and Cork in the Ocean all winning to retain their top four spots. Corky looked a bit wobbly during the bye period but hit back hard this week as they spanked the Honey Badgers who had a better week during the bye last round than this week. The same thing can be said of the REBCats as TEAM_FISH swooped gratefully on the win to keep their faint finals hopes alive.

The most important performance of the week though was clearly Blighty's debut win in Elite league as he got off the mark against a struggling Captain Who? The Captain at least got some runs on the board this week but Blighty had been spoiling for a victory in recent weeks and finally got the breakthrough. The comeback's on!

Darksiders have snuck two games clear in Hogg Elite after eddieslittleindians lost their top four blockbuster against the Underdogs. In SuperCoach this week there seemed to be quite a lot of very close games but this wasn't the case in Elite this round. One match that was very close was the Hondo v Honey Badgers match which Hondo won by the narrow margin of two points. It was a cruel result for the Beeners who slip out of the top eight while Hondo is nice and snug in there with a 6-4 record.

Cork in the Ocean are leading Hogg Premier but they don't have to contend with the mighty Les's Men in that league (yet) who got the job done by 52 points to remain in the top eight. Q Before You scored a solid win but he scored a decent score, unlike my REBCats who copped a wobbly Cowboys outfit and won quite easily.

TEAM_FISH has never had to play against so many quality teams as he has this season but it seems to have brought out the best in him. FISHy's scores are starting to become more competitive and this week it was the Captain who was hooked. The Captain put in an improved effort but failed to scale the FISH.

Last year's gun side Bens Rolfsbergers finally got inside the top eight after they defeated also rans Blighty Teasdale and Honda's Heroes also failed to flatter as MILLERS MOSQUITOES got back on the winning list. I'm still liking an indians v Darkside final but Underdogs and Corky in particular might have some say in that.

My 2390 was a bit of a fluke and I doubt whether I'll top that again this year...

The Underdogs have kept Q out of the top four in Hogg Elite as they knocked off the ladder leaders by a comfortable 76 points. Q Before You haven't been one of the scoring pigs in this league but this week they cracked up a massive 2428 which was more than enough to defeat the misfiring REBCats.

The only thing worse than Hondo winning in Premier League with his paltry 2101 is seeing him double up in Hogg Elite with another victory. Hondo's opponent Les's Men are no bunnies either as they struggled even more to lose the important clash between two top eight contenders. Has Been copped the Underdogs and a close loss in Premier but did it pretty easily against the Honey Badgers and they moved into the top eight at the expense of the Rolfsbergers who couldn't match TEAM_FISH. FISH really on the improve now and are starting to become the one that got away.

A few weeks ago Cowboys were looking good and the Captain looked shot but in recent weeks they have swapped jumpers and the Captain now trails the Cowboys by just the one match. Former AFL Online teams Squeakeroos and MILLERS squared off with four wins apiece with the prize on offer a chance to stay in touch with the top eight. Squeaky got the job done in this match and things are now looking tough for the MOSQUITOES.

Looking forward to August there are still a couple of teams that look like they can stage an eleventh hour entrance with TEAM_FISH looking dangerous and Ben Rolfsbergers always a chance in any match. Blighty and Hondas look to be fighting it out for the spoon now that the Captain has decided to play ball with Blighty looking good to add another spoon to the Peckers' collection.

Hogg heavyweight Darksiders have lost two matches in a row in Hogg Elite and this lapse has cost them top spot and eddieslittleindians have pounced. Like Hogg Champions League, eight teams topped 2300 this week even though a few teams struggled to reach those numbers. TEAM_FISH led the scoring this week with 2419 and they are in red hot form, certainly too hot for last ranked Blighty to handle. Cowboys have been in poor form in recent matches but they put a stop to that with a cracking 2411 that kept their hopes alive as they defeated a key top eight rival in the Rolfies.

Other teams to bounce back into a bit of form this week was MILLERS MOSQUITOES who upset the Underdogs and the Honey Badgers who came from behind to beat the REBCats who had a Sunday Bloody Sunday as the wheels fell off. Captain Who had the better of Q Man but it might be a bit late for the Captain in this league as it isn't quite as even as Premier and especially Champions league.

Hondo and Cork in the Ocean scored key wins to take advantage of the stumble of Darksiders and Underdogs and all of a sudden this league is not the three horse race it appeared to be a few weeks ago. Les' Men is stuck on six wins and haven't been able to shut the door on those outside the eight. Teams on 4-8 have claims but if Les captures that winning feeling then it might a loss to many for the Captain and the REBCats.

It was a scoring bonanza in Hogg Elite this week with 16 teams scoring over 2400 in the best league performance I can recall in the Hogg Shield. Only Honda's Heroes, who really missed out and Squeakeroos DTC missed the scorefest with plenty of high scoring losers the trend this week. I haven't done the stats for this but I think Q Before You's 2574 would have to go extremely close to be being the largest ever losing score in the Hogg. Q has been scoring crap all year and winning games and now that he has sorted his forward line out he's racking up the points but he's no longer winning matches! Go figure.

Q would have to be worried about a team as good as the Rolfs sitting outside the top eight. The Rolfsbergers have a proud history over their two seasons in the Hogg Sheild with the Elite league the only Hogg league he hasn't dominated after a strong showing in Division IV last year and an arguably stronger showing in Division I this year against tougher opposition.

The only team who looks like a Fish out of water is Honda's Heroes who have only racked up 29000 points for the season which is well down in this company. This league is so tough it is way too early to go the call on anyone. So I won't. Job done.

Not often you lose 4 out of 5 matches with 2472. And one of my other leagues came up with this week's winner of the $1000 - Box Smashers with 2894 points. A hot week!

eddieslittleindians maintained their one game lead on the field after scraping up enough points to beat a battling MILLER MOSQUITOES. It was an important win for the indians as the other top sides are hanging around and nothing comes easy in Hogg Elite. Second ranked Darksiders have been doing it tough in the Hogg in recent weeks as tough opposition have found them out and this week's conquerer has had a Corker of a season.

TEAM_FISH have been on fire in recent weeks but even though they are knocking on the door of the top eight that door might not even open with Benny Rolf and Les's Men both winning well to keep the FISH swimming upstream. The battle for the spoon is between Blighty and Honda with Blighty having a most Woodville like 1-13 win loss record to show for his efforts in Hogg Elite this season.
