Just like Hogg Elite the league score in the Hogg Champions League was lower than normal but fairly solid over the whole league in a low scoring week. Three teams remain unbeaten with the Darksiders unbeaten in the Champions and Elite leagues. Surprisingly though, the Darkside is only in 8th spot in Hogg Premier League.

There were three games decided by under twenty points in the Champions League and I am cursing several midfield 'guns' such as Griffen and Cotchin after losing by 12 points to the top side eddieslittleindians. Blighty must be spewing at losing to MILLERS MOSQUITOES twice in two leagues by a measly seven points. The Cowboys were another side to cop a fairly tight loss.

Premier League sides Captain Who?, Underdogs, Has Been and Buddy Franklin are wondering what I'm on about here as they coasted to easy one hundred point plus victories in true Port Power fashion. Well done to TEAM_FISH for lifting his game and climbing into the top eight when only two years ago he was struggling to do the same thing in Division III.

Blighty Teasdale became the second team in the Champions League to feel DA HEAT this season after eleven year old Leo put on a scoring frenzy that eclipsed the former number one ranked SuperCoach. The problem with having kids in your comp is that sometimes they jag the most unlikely of POD players and can rack up massive scores against you one week while they completely dud out when you need them to take out a rival. DA HEAT's scoring has been all over the place but this is the second time they have chalked up 2300 this season so you can't just pencil them in as a 'W' when you see their name in the draw.

It was business as usual for the unbeaten sides although the Underdogs and Darksiders were a bit more impressive than the ladder leaders eddieslittleindians. Cyrilanddayle are struggling to make an impact on the Premier League this season but are currently inside the top eight of the HCL after they accounted for a struggling TEAM_FISH. Congrats also to Jays Jocks who finally returned to the sort of scoring that made them such a dominant side last season.

eddieslittleindians are the chief of the Champions League village after they shut down the cyrilanddayleshow with the highest score of the weekend during the first bye week. The Darksiders and Underdogs had rare off weeks with both teams getting rolled and they were joined at 5-1 by the impressive Buddy Franklin who got over the line against the Darkside to move into the top four.

The Cowboys swatted away the MOSQUITOES and harrynutts consolidated their place in the top eight after defeating the previously unbeaten Underdogs. TEAM_FISH would have been considered a bit of an underdog to make the top eight in this league but FISHY is in there however after demoting the Captain who had a shocker this week.

Eleven year old Leo's DA HEAT is continuing to surprise as the young Richmond fan remained in ninth after racking up back to back victories for the first time in this league. Cossi's Carnts weren't in the race after only managing to score 1276. Blighty Teasdale hasn't had a lot of success in the invitational elite leagues but he recorded a very important win over Jays Jocks which should mean that Blighty won't get the spoon. Jays Jocks are gradually improving but so far this season they've been lowered nearly every week at this level.

The Underdogs and cyrilanddayleshow played out the first draw of the Champions League this week in a result which sees the Dogs slipping off the pace a bit amongst the top four. Gibbo has plenty to worry about because in recent weeks the Cowboys have been roping in the stragglers with three straight wins over bottom ten sides. Meanwhile, harrynutts are on a roll scoring the top score of the league this week to lock Has Been out of the top eight for another week.

Three sides that are looking like the genuine article include unbeaten eddieslittleindians, Darksiders and Buddy Franklin and you would think that the Champion will be one of these three sides. Young DA HEAT is continuing with his audacious finals bid racking up another victory, this time at the expense of MILLERS MOSQUITOES who slipped to 16th after copping a 200 point loss.

Jays Jocks finally got off the bottom but only because the Captain is really spudding it up this year. The selection meetings for the Captain must be quite spirited at the moment and rumour has it that the coach has the full support of the board which indicates that a mutiny might on the cards. Arrrr.

Most of the top teams in Champions League had wins with only Buddy Franklin coming unstuck at the hands of the mighty Darksiders. Harrynutts had a slip up against a possible sleeping giant in Blighty Teasdale and DA HEAT had a cool one this week copping a heavy defeat at the hands of the Cowboys.

Q Before You and REBCats were other bottom ten sides to collect the four points this week and Jays Jocks managed to collect a rare win as well as MILLERS MOSQUITOES continued their tough year. One thing I thought I would never see is Groover on the bottom of a Hogg Ladder but the Captain is having a tough year and he' s really struggling in Champions League.

There is a very real chance of Darksiders SCE and eddieslittleindians playing off in the Hogg Champions League and Hogg Elite League Grand Finals with Underdogs the main threat in both leagues as the main challenger. The Darkside and the Indians cleaned up handy opposition again and the Indians have yet to taste defeat in the extremely tough Champions league. You are going pretty well if you can clean up the indians and Q was the latest team to fail at this task this season.

The Cowboys and Buddy Franklin showed that they were not quite up to the challenge of the Darkside and Underdogs respectively and now there is a handy six point buffer between third and fourth spot on the ladder. This means that there is a double chance spot up for grab although your 'reward' for winning it would be a first up final against the indians.

cyrilanddayle stormed into the top eight after DA HEAT and REBCats dropped their round nine matches and teams outside the eight in Ecky's Fevolas, Jays Jocks and MILLER MOSQUITOES have had some life injected into their season with this week's results. Every team has a shot this season but that ship has sailed for Captain Who. The Captain is now two games plus percentage astern of the MOSQUITOES and Groover looks to be the unlikely spoon recipient in Hogg Champions.

Upsets were on the cards in Round 10 with more than a few of the popular players spudding it up this week. Ecky's Fevolas kept their finals hopes alive after they cleaned up previously unbeaten eddieslittleindians who appeared mortal this week. In another boilover unheralded TEAM_FISH managed to clean up the best Hogg team of all time, the Darksiders. Both sides are now just one win outside the top four after those priceless upset victories.

Underdogs and Buddy Franklin were the big winners this week with the two gun sides coming a cropper with Underdogs in particular making a move to second spot in the ladder. Harrynutts were another top eight side to have a good win and they trail Buddy by a game but have the better percentage. The REBCats can't quite crack it for the top eight and are still out after we got rolled by my lad DA HEAT.

2013 Guns Jays Jocks have pulled themselves up considerably in recent weeks and this week it was the Cowboys who fell off their horse. The Cowboys are looking a bit wobbly now with several suddenly in form teams looking to take their spot in the eight. After suffering a string of losses it was a breakthrough round for Captain Who as they cleaned up Blighty by over 200 points. Perhaps the spoon won't be in the Captain's locker after all.

Finally the big clash between eddiesindians and Darksiders took place and the first of what should be many battles before the end of the year resulted in an indians victory as the Dark Side's 2290 was not enough to get the job done. Underdogs, the other of the deadly trio in this league posted a fine 2366 to stop Ecky's resurgence but the biggest score in the league was posted by Q who bounced back to form in emphatic fashion with a score of 2428. This meant that Has Been was incredibly stiff to lose with the league's second highest score of 2386. I hate it when that happens but with my shit scoring this season I haven't had to worry about it.

Five teams have bolted away from the rest so that means the rest of the competition is still in the hunt to make the top eight no matter how badly they stunk it up in the first eleven rounds. Two weeks ago I was about to bury the Captain at sea but now he is only two games out of the top eight with six matches to play...game on. The Cowboys might be 6-5 but in recent weeks they've been roped in and are one of the out of form teams in this league along with Blighty Teasdale who might have jumped the shark already this season.

Once again the Champions League has proven to be a top quality league with the winner of the Bunny Bowl scoring nicely and sitting just in side the top eight instead of dragging the league's ranking down. Hogg Champions overtook Hogg Premier as the second highest ranked league in the Hogg after no less than eight coaches managed to post over 2300 despite many popular players scoring bugger all on the weekend.

This league is something of a statistical anomoly. It has managed to eliminate ZERO teams from contention after 12 rounds of play. Cossi's Carnts are currently struggling a little and are at present propping up the table but they are only two games outside of the top eight with five rounds to play. Such is the eveneness of the competition that you can't write off anyone even at this stage of the season.

Above I wrote of DA HEAT and their efforts to make the league a success but a special mention should go to TEAM_FISH who are right up there with Brods 'The Willies' as being the most improved Hogg team of the season. FISH caught a big one this weekend after they scored a massive 2419 to eclipse the highly rated eddieslittleindians. The indians loss means that the Underdogs are now top dogs and FISHY is right in the hunt for a top eight spot.

Maybe next week we will be able to put a line through a few teams chances but right now all bets are off!

A couple of teams went very large indeed this week with eddieslittleindians and Eckys Fevolas both managing to top 2600 this week which puts them in the top ten scores in Hogg history category. Indeed several teams racked up massive scores but didn't manage to win their games. No less than two thirds of the league managed to top 2400 with the unluckiest losers of the round being Cowboys (2516) and Darksiders SCE (2511) losing with scores that would normally result in massive victories. The Darksiders were particularly stiff to lose as the margin in his match with Has Been was a mere 21 points. Even worse, the Darkside copped Has Been in Premier League as well.

TEAM_FISH has been enjoying a run of winning form and he is going so well that even when he loses he wins. FISH may have lost this week but put in respectable effort against the ladder leading Underdogs, faring better than DA HEAT who was well beaten by a resurgent Captain Who? There is still only two games between 8th and 18th in this league so the door remains open for everyone. Out of all the teams currently out of the top eight I'd put down Jays Jocks and Captain Who as the best chances to make the eight.

Gibbo might be struggling in the Premier League this season but after defeating second ranked eddieslittleindians the Underdogs now have a comfortable six point buffer at the top of the Champions League table. In one of the arsiest ever wins in SuperCoach history, DA HEAT recorded the second lowest score of the round but managed to win against Buddy who lucked out with the lowest.

The Darksiders made it three out of four top four sides to be defeated this week as they lost their 5th straight to lowly Blighty Teasdale who moved out of the basement and into 16th. TEAM_KYRGIOS continued on with their giant killing run accounting for fifth ranked Has Been in what was a pretty ordinary week for the top teams. In fact nobody seems to want top four spots in this league so FISH might be a chance to sneak in which would be a fine effort.

The Champions League is something of a statistical anomoly with Darksiders on a five game losing streak yet somehow hanging on to a top four spot. While in many other leagues teams are 8-7 and not even in the eight the Darksiders have been unable to give their top four spot away. The absent Harrynutts' form is also on the nose as is the form of 6th ranked Cowboys.

Has Been, DA HEAT, TEAM_FISH and Q Before You are all sniffing around mid table but none of these sides can muster the consistency required to challenge Darksiders and Harrynutts. Could it be that Eckys Fevolas are the team that might come from the clouds and make a mark. Even REBCats and cyrilanddayleshow have shown some improved form in the most recent round.

Surely Darksiders can turn their form around soon, they are too good a side to continue losing. They are not the only statistical anomoly though as Underdogs can't crack the eight in the slightly lower ranked Premier League but lead all comers in the Champions league. Underdogs are standing proud in most leagues but it is in this league that their bite is as bad as their bark. If they can stay atop the pile that sets up an interesting Qualifying Final match up between eddieslittleindians and Buddy Franklin who have both been solid all season. I reckon whoever wins that quallie will take out this league. So a premiership call this far out in this most even league...and yet another anomoly.
