Good start by Regards REB but I had a good start last year then fell apart with 8 forward line injuries and zero trades left.

Well done to Carp Diem who has topped the ladder of Division V of the opening round. For those that came in late I have often called this mob 'Carp Team' due to several years of appalling results which has seen this team sink from Divvy III all the way down to the current division. Could it be that Carp has finally siezed the day? No side has ever been promoted after suffering relegation but if Carpy can contiue on with this sort of scoring they are a chance to create history.

This league is a fairly low standard so far but the standout has been Squids who is racking up the points so far this year. I'm not all that happy that 'Regards, REB' is outscoring the REBCats let me tell you. Squiddy bolted out of the gates last year only to fall in a screaming heap so hopefully I won't be blushing so much come August. My old mate Stewie Fitz has started off the season well with a solid win over the wonder elephants who like another former Premier League side Mr Football failed to flatter in the opeining round.

My brother in law the Kiwi is another team looking to do the bounce after he snuck by Chelsea but on the whole, looking at the scores this league needs to see the Essendon club Doctor for a few shots.

Squiddly has his tentacles wrapped all around this league leading the scoring by over three hundred points and is now sitting on top of the ladder and yelling out 'who's next!'. Hogg newcomer Venomous Geckos might be the ones to watch out for after he racked up 2281 and several teams took a few points off Regards but in the early stages of this comp it's all systems go for Squiddy.

Meanwhile, Mr Football's 'high performance' director Dr Stephen Rank has been called in because the the team that is called Mr Football bears little resemblence to the side that strode atop the mountain to claim the 2008 Hogg Premier title. After missing the 2012 season so far Pup's efforts rank alongside of that of Ian Thorpe or Tony Lockett as the most mystifying comeback and should serve as a warning for Shane Warne for whenever he climbs of Liz Hurley once the Ashes begin.

Someone else who might be getting a visit from the drug testing agencies is Carpe Diem who have had a suspiciously good start to the season. Overall this weeks round was the best performance from this league and when I'd expect Divvy V to climb a few spots this week.

Straycat Strut are the new ladder leaders after the wounded wonder elephants knocked off the highly rated Regards, REB combination in a game that produced some excellent banter throughout the weekend. The Strutties got a percentage booster of the artist formerely known as Pup whose current form is well short of the halycon years of 2008 when he won the Hogg Premier League title.

Callum's Venomous Geckos are proving to be just that as well with another solid win in what must be said is a rather low scoring league. Carp Diem got back to winning ways on the weekend at the expense of the Saints who had a Barry Crocker. Stand by for the big grudge match Strutties v Regards this week.

Yes it's the Geckos and the Straycats looking down on the rest in Division V after both sides remained unbeaten after the sixth round of matches. The Geckos did it with lot more authority mind you as the Strutties only just staggered across the line after putting in a sub two grand score. Squiddley's Regards look a good bet to be promoted (as Strutties can't go up) and they bounced back to winning form against Pup's last placed Mr Football whose comeback is even worse than Tony Lockett's.

Adro's Assassins picked off another opponent and scored well yet again I can see this side going up along with Regards, The Geckos and a yet to be identified side. Still not sold on the Kiwi despite his 5-1 start as his scoring isn't exactly hitting the heights. At the arse end of the ladder Sturt B and gfc_firm scored important victories as a relegation from this league will put you into the lowest league in the Hogg next year. Remember folks, the bottom four go down and not one side in Hogg history has ever bounced back although the Kiwi Krappers are on target to do so currently.
