Hogg Division III Preview 2011

Never mind Hogg Division II this is a league with a chest hair. According to my statistical analysis it’s going to take a bigger score to win matches in this league in comparison with Hogg Division II. On the flip side, if you fail in this league you get relegated to the pool which can be very hard to get out of.

Here is the run down on sides in seeded (2010 points) order.

Jim’s TigerRoos

Many Hogg Shield followers from last season spent many a week scratching their heads trying to work out how such a high scoring team wasn’t actually winning matches. It’s not much good scoring well when there are no games so Jim is only a ‘statistical’ favourite. Jimbo must win matches but if he comes close to last year’s input he should at least go top four here and be a good bet for Hogg II next year.

Loathsome

Ingall’s mob will be one of the more competent combos in this league this year and is another with a real flag chance here. Loathsome had a strong season last year and he should do well again this year. Genuine promotion chance.

REBCats

Fair dinkum boys I’ve got this won even though the only time I’ll get a huge score will be when I play against Jimbo. I’ll end up cleaning up Loathsome in the finals and it’s job done . Give me the cup now. If I play true to form I’ll lose the granny for a change. Remember last year boys you only played against my reserves team Straycat Strut.

Les’s Men

Logan Asterix makes his Hogg debut in this league after scoring fairly well last season. Don’t know much about these Lesmen but I’d be a lot more interested if they were Leswomen. He is a Westies man though so that normally goes hand in hand with disappointment. Top eight.

Hips Don’t Lie

Scott Obelix is joined hand in hand with the Lesmen…do these blokes have the same team or what? Come on CoverKing are these two blokes actually real or are they a figment of your imagination? We’ll sort em out this year. Top eight.

Toolman

Aerie showed some solid form last year and will compete strongly in Division III this season. He has all the Tools for a top four position after just falling short of this objective last year. Tooly will need to keep a firm grip on things for the majority of the year or be left in the Shed come Prelim Final week. Possible top four position for the Toolman. 4-7.

Delicious

Valleys had his ups and downs last year and looked appeared set for glory late last year before dipping out in the end. He’s backing up again in Divvy III and ready to go and should make the top eight at this level.

Stats that Matter

Dogmatic has been doing pretty well in the Cricket World Cup so his recent fantasy form has been good. Started off like a greyhound last year but the bunny must have run out of batteries towards the end of the year as Doggy’s challenge fizzled out. This year the Stats that Matter will be aiming to rack em up when they do. Hard to leave out of the eight.

black ninja

Poor old Bowie might be so far behind he might not hear the band playing this season. At his best he is a more than competent coach but he might be a little out of his depth in this much improved league. He’s going to do a Richmond I reckon and finish ninth.

cdfcdevils

Bulldog 2004 got the late call up to join this league and he won’t be out of place. The devils have the ability to rack up freakish scores one week and then disappear into Hell the next. They’ll probably win about half of their matches and be duking it out with Stats and the ninjas for that last spot in the eight.

Browny’s Boys

You can’t send Browny’s Boys to do a man’s job ha ha. Nah, he’s a gun honestly. Browny isn’t bad but this isn’t the Herald Sun and this isn’t REB’s top 50. 9-12 with only the occasional flash of brilliance.

Kiwi Krapper’s

At last honesty in advertising. My brother in law Brad has the knack of winning matches despite not scoring any points, he is the opposite to Jim’s TigerRoos. Brad got the callup after a good season in the Piglet but their aren’t too many Piglets in the relegation/promotion leagues of the Hogg. Bottom four.

The Relentless 22

Andy is a workmate who tells me that ‘my other teams are doing really well’. So if he is not full of it he could do anything here but because I reckon he is I reckon he won’t do squat. He’ll avoid relegation but I’ve yet to see one of his teams do as well as the top half dozen sides in this league.

Pidgeridoo

Great team name from the Pidge has a real echo about it. On last year’s form Pidge is a big chance to be relegated but I reckon the only way is up for Pidge and with the Swans being a bye free team he could in fact climb the ladder. I reckon he might surprise and finish 10th.

Punk Roosters
Punk Roosters one day, feather duster the next. I reckon Punky will be needing a pair of boardies by the end of the year because I reckon he will be going for a dip in the pool. Relegation Bound.

Carpe Diem

Carp Team is one of my favourite team names and you’ve got to love your local percentage builder. I hope these bottom blokes sink rather than swim, or at least they sink when they play me and take some percentage off my rivals. This Carp will be diving deep in the pool next season.

You have used five more players and your lead is under 500 points so I won't be considering anything. EDIT: Our match is the clash of the round mate. I'm chasing down the biggest score in the Division.
