Just waiting for finn, Pup and Woody to join this league. For all of those teams in Orange please don't leave the selection of your teams until the last night before lockout because the server goes batshit. At least put in a provisional side because the last thing I want in Hogg Premier are randoms.

Round 1 Review

There was some sensational scoring the 5th Hogg Premier League opener with 13 teams scoring over 2000 points in the first round. The Squeakeroos got off to a flyer after racking up a league high 2355 against the Q Man who hasn’t discovered the knack of winning in the early rounds as yet during his Hogg Premier career.

Former Premier League winners, Darksiders SCE, Poon Army and Mr Football all got their seasons off to a winning start with the Poon Army pulling off the upset win against the highly rated Woodys Dropkicks, a side that doesn’t often lose minor round matches. Mr Football got the drop on an underprepared dunKsKrew to take top spot on the ladder leaving duncs with much to ponder this week. Dusty Tunnels got a reality check when they faced up to the impressive Darksiders who recorded a comfortable 106 point victory over the Premier League newcomers.

The Blue_Guns had a solid win against an underwhelming Boxhead United who won’t be getting off to their traditional flying start this season. Premier League rookies Hondominators beat up on the chardies in a one sided clash and Gingernuts had a very close win against a luckless Cub in the closest match of the round. My REBCats ended a five year old hoodoo by finally recording their first ever win against Hawkeye you bewdy! Get that one into ya Woggy!

Pretty happy with my score given the Selwood situation and the bad captaincy choice.

Pretty happy with McKernan's 90 odd on the bench too REB. ;)

Nice get. I did pick up McKernan in one of my other sides (DT) but I don't reckon you'll get as much out of McKernan when Tippett comes back and that was my point. You had some very close matches Ginge on the weekend. My lad is shattered that he scored over 2100 and got rolled in EVERY Hogg match he played on the weekend. (You got him in Premier and I got him in the Piglet LOL).

The standard this year is of a cracking pace so far.

Terrible call on Lake duncs. He has been on the out list for ages and is overpriced at that price anyway. I'll pick him up for a hundred grand less when I trade out Lower or Heppell.

Round 2 Previews

REBCats vs. Darksiders SCE

My Catters have a tough test this week against Darksiders and I reckon I’m in a bit of trouble here. Like me the Darkside has the sex on the beach combo and where I look a little more solid in some areas of the ground Dane Swan could well be the decisive factor in this match. REB’s Tip - Darksiders SCE.

Hawkeye vs. Dusty Tunnels

As CoverKing has pointed out elsewhere on this board, Hawkeye looks a lot stronger this week than he did when he lost to the REBCats in the first round. Chappy and Drew Petrie back. Hawks up against the Demons. I reckon that the Hawkers can pull an upset here and keep the Tunnels in the dark for another week. REB’s Tip – Hawkeye.

chardy socialists vs. The Ginger Ninjas

Gingernuts enjoyed an opening round victory against the Cub last week and the early season fixture has been most kind to the Ginger Ninjas as his second match is against wooden spoon favourite the chardy socialists. The chardies didn’t score well last week and Gingernuts could find that he is off to a flyer. REB’s Tip – The Ginger Ninjas.

Hondominators YSCC vs. FOOTYLEDGENS

Hondo has stamped his authority on this league early with an impressive win last week but faces tougher opposition in the FOOTYLEDGENS, a team he hasn’t played against since his humble beginnings in the Piglet Shield way back in season 2009. FOOTYLEDGENS look a player or two short to take out Hondo so it will be two from two for the top seed. REB’s Tip – Hondominators YSCC

Boxhead United vs. Mr Football

Boxhead normally gets off to a flyer but this year he looks to be in real strife. He didn’t score well last year and in this week’s match he is up against Pup whose Mr Football looks to be up and about early in the season. REB’s Tip – Mr Football.

Blue_Guns vs. dunKsKrew

Duncs pulled a shocker in the first round and must improve quickly to remain relevant in this division. Gordy’s Blue_Guns didn’t score massively last weekend in their first round win but won’t need to against dunKsKrew whose lineup is exhibiting a multitude of sins. REB’s Tip – Blue_Guns.

Woodys Dropkicks vs. Squeakeroos DTC

Woody came into Hogg Premier on the back of Darcy pulling out and he was expected to be more than competitive based on results of the last two seasons. Woody suffered a surprising loss last week and this week they face the highest scoring team of last week and might slip to what would be an unexpected 0-2 start. REB’s Tip – Squeakeroos DTC.

Poon Army vs. Far Q

Q Man is already sweating remembering his poor start to last season and if he gets rolled by the Poon Army then he’ll be on his way to replicating his early 2010 form. Poon is an Essendon supporter who is at present a dangerous opponent especially as Jobe Watson has started so well. With Essendon on a roll, Q could be in trouble. REB’s Tip – Poon Army.

I believe this is the first time since being in the Hogg Shield that I don't feel like I have to make a change after round 1 already. Very happy with nearly making the 2200 barrier in the first week.

I'm not actually getting the hang of this am I??
