Hogg Premier Round 1

darcy DTF vs  FOOTYLEDGENS
The Quiddities vs  Chicky's Crusaders
Darksiders SCE vs  dunKsKrew
REBCats vs  Brown nosed Fev
Poon Army vs  Squeakeroos
Buddy&TheBoys vs  Boxheads Beauties
GordonBlue vs  The Ginger Ninjas
chardy socialists vs  Hawkeye

Hogg Premier League kicks off with a fairly low key round with only two top eight scorers facing off in the first round. The match of the round is between Quichey's The Quiddites and Pups Chicky's Crusaders. Both are excellent coaches as you would expect in Hogg Premier and Q Man's first Premier League outing is against the 2008 Hogg Premier champion. The Crusaders have been steadily building momentum through the first three weeks and should salute here.

Other teams to make their debut include darcy who is really racking up the points. He plays his first match against FOOTYLEDGENS who have made a couple of key changes to their side this week, but probably not enough to bridge the gap to one of the highest ranked teams in the Hogg. Darcy won't lose too many this year. Another newbie is The Squeakeroos who won Div I last season. They face off against 2007 Champion Poon Army in a tough opening round fixture. Last year the Squeakeroos started slowly before coming home like a train so the best time to Squeak by them might be early on in the season.

Geez, thought I was in with a good chance coming into the last match of the round. I was 300+ points in front and we both had Barlow to play, but my opponent with Dal Santo, Goddard and Sandilands up his sleeve. Yep, thought I was in with a chance...until all three of those players absolutely shat it in :(

Had a loss but pretty happy with my score still on a week when most teams in the Premier league struggled.

Had a good win in the end but not a great score for the third successive week. My current lineup is not a premiership proposition.

ROUND 1

The fourth Hogg Premier League didn't offer up too many surprises in the opening round of matches. The 2009 Division I winners Squeakeroos squeaked by the Poon Army in the match of the round and darcy became the new number one team in the Hogg after topping the scores for the first week of matches. Hogg Premier didn't score as highly as some of the other divisions this week so some of the round one winners may have just dodged a bullet this week.

Gordon posted a good score to open his account with a win and a quick look at the table suggests that the match between Darksiders and Chicky's Crusaders will be a tight one with just two points separating the teams in round one. Boxheads Beauties are up to thier usual good early season form but can they sustain it this year?

Things look bleak early for Brown Nosed Fev and dunKsKrew and Buddy and the Boys would also want to pull their fingers out. As you can see from the Div I thread, others are waiting.

Hogg Premier Round 2

darcy DTF vs The Quiddities
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Chicky's Crusaders
Darksiders SCE vs REBCats
dunKsKrew vs Brown nosed Fev
Poon Army vs Buddy&TheBoys
Squeakeroos vs Boxheads Beauties
GordonBlue vs chardy socialists
The Ginger Ninjas vs Hawkeye

The second round of Hogg Premier League action features the Grand Final replay between Darksiders and REBCats who are out for revenge after last year's dismal showing in the final. Not much between the sides last week with the Darkside having a slight advantage although the Cats were gifted a healthy percentage boost by Brown Nosed Fev who were really on the nose. Because it's not a final the REBCats will get home DOH. Squeakeroos and Boxheads will also be out to remain undefeated with Boxhead looking particularly sharp at this time of year but he will need to last more than five rounds to see if the Real Number 3 is the real thing this year.

Another crucial clash is between two sides from The Switch that did very well last season with one of them go 0-2 with plenty of tough matches to come. Buddy and the Boys look particuarly underwhelming so far this season and look the 2010 version of Darios...he might be fighting off the relegation blues before too long.

A pretty tight matchup for the Ninjas this week against Hawkeye, could be a very close one. Carrying a few injuries this week too which will make things even tougher.

Wouldn't mind betting that Dave has Mitchell in his squad but he would also have Hodge so I hope you have because Hodgey is killing it this season. Not a bad week to have a Goldstein or McIntosh for this particular match up because opposition rucks are gunning it against Hawthorn this season. Perhaps a Tippet trade to Goldstien could be on the cards with one eye on the price fluctations on Cox could be the move? That would be a ballsy move though.

I've had Hodge since the start of the year (thankyou for getting injured Stiffy!) so got that covered. I'm keeping an eye on Cox but I don't quite have the cash yet. Think I'll sit on further trading for this round, I've looked at Hawkeye's squad and I reckon I've got the goods to get over the line.

GordonBlue 2,192 def 1,796 chardy socialists
The Ginger Ninjas 2,131 def 1,961 Hawkeye

Unlike Division I there weren't any giant scores in Hogg Premier with the Beauties and FOOTYLEDGENS leading the way with scores of over 2200. REBCats managed to sneak by the Darkside in the Grand Final replay and Buddy&TheBoys came from nowhere to defeat The Poon Army after the Army had looked like it had won the war. Brown Nose improved on last week but not by enough to record a victory over dunKsKrew. GordonBlue has assumed a familar spot on the top of the ladder in Hogg Premier with darcy proving to be consistent yet again in his victory over Q Man who is yet to get off the mark with his maiden Premier league victory.

Pretty happy with my score this week considering I had 2 of my better players in Boyd & McKay on the bench injured. Have the potential to push past 2200 this week with Boyd back in.

REB, did you manually configure the draw or was it randomly generated. Because if it's the former, I'm hating you right now.

I tried to rig it by sending out invites in a particular order but I don't think it's possible (or easily achieved if possible) for the league organiser to configure the draw. Mate there won't be too many easy games in Hogg Premier.

No easy games, that's for sure.

Gonna have to cop some early pain and come home with a wet sail.

If it's any consolation our half of the draw looks a bit tougher than the other half with only Gordy and Boxhead standing out so far.

Hogg Premier Round 3

darcy DTF vs  Chicky's Crusaders
FOOTYLEDGENS vs  The Quiddities
Darksiders SCE vs  Brown nosed Fev
dunKsKrew vs  REBCats
Poon Army vs  Boxheads Beauties
Squeakeroos vs  Buddy&TheBoys
GordonBlue vs  Hawkeye
The Ginger Ninjas vs  chardy socialists

It's looking like a tippable round in Hogg Premier this week with the match of the round being darcy vs. Chicky's Crusaders. The Crusaders came up short against FOOTYLEDGENS last week and find the match against darcy even tougher. The LEDGENS play the Q Man who is really floundering but he's flying in comparison to Brown nosed Fev who won't get a sniff against the Darksiders. REBCats and dunKsKrew could be a close clash but the Catters look a bit more even across the board but the Krew not without a chance here.

Boxhead's Beauties are in beautiful early season form as they were this time last year while the Poon Army still have the burger ring in the W column after losing the unloseable match against Buddy and the Boys last week. This week the Boys won't be able to overcome the Squeakeroos that have been biding their time so far this season it would seem. GordonBlue should be able to clean up Hawkeye and the Ginger Ninjas will be Kung Fu Fighting as they give the socialists the chop.

Upsets aplenty in Hogg Premier this week with Pup claiming the scalp of darcy and the Poon Army cleaning up the unbeaten Boxhead. REBCats spudded out  and dunKsKrew took advantage to now sit in second spot. And to add to that the chardys knocked off the Ninjas so the real winner of all these unexpected results was Gordy who is now the only unbeaten side in Hogg Premier.
