I won't be cheaping out on the starting ruckman, Hille hugely underdone, Seaby is poo, NicNat inconsistent rookie. Will probably choose between Sandilands, HMac, Jolly and Fraser.

I think Tippett is a reasonable option for the rucks too if you want to save some money.

It sounds like you have written off Cox as an option as have I. I think Sandilands can step up to his old level this year and doesn't have a young gun to compete with for time on ground.

Wade Skipper might become a better option now that Taylor has broken his leg and is expected to be out for four months. Ditto for rookie Jared Kayler-Thompson now that Sewell has done his collarbone and is out for two months. With Cale Morton, Daniel Bell and now Liam Jurrah also out injured the Hawks v Demons match in round could be a veritable 'who's that?' of football which means CHA CHING for astute fantasy coaches looking for viable cash cows.

I've got a list of 10+ rookie midfielders likely to start R1. Daunting. My midfield could end up looking very inexperienced, with the other lines being beefed up as a result.

Thanks Dutchy

Specifically, what do you reckon about Ben Warren? I am reading some huge wraps on him from NM fans but how much of that is optimism? I see he's claimed the number 5 guernsey so I take that as a positive sign about his prospects.

Would have played all year last season if he didnt get injured (broken arm IIRC)

Body seems much stronger this year, can take a grab, great lead, and strong tackler, had a good preseason - bit like a Peter Vardy type if comparing to the crows

Sam Fisher is going to be out for month. This has implications not only for those who were keen on Fisher but also for those looking at players like Gram or Gilbert. I reckon these types of players might take a dip in value without Fisher back there to hold down a key forward. As a coach who is looking at one of the three Saints backs I've got some thinking to do over the next couple of weeks.

Picking up on REB's comment in the NAB Final thread .... who isn't picking up Barry Hall now?

I'm not .... yet. But I feel like I am in the minority. He'll be everywhere!

My initial worry was that he's an old bugger who is suspect mentally but at the moment he is running around like a kid and clearly enjoying his footy. You'd be mad not to include Big Bulldog Bustling Hall (no longer Bad???).

Hall should be a staple for anyone at 280k, not muh better value going round, other players around that price point include Ziebell 285k Tippett 319k and Monfries 323k which are all also very handy

Tippett $319K in DT??? Wow, jump on!

As a comparison to SC: Ziebell $320K, Tippett $425K

I hear you

He's such an awkward price and I'm not convinced he can keep this up. On that other hand I don't want to miss an obvious bolter that everyone else will have.

Are you going to take the risk on Chappy? He'd be a great unique pick as lots will be scared off him but he's a SC gun!

Hall is $366K in SC. I think he may well perform better than Franklin who is worth $100K more. I think the Hawks may struggle this year, a number of injury concerns again.

Yep. Hall's a lock for me. But I'm not playing against Hondo this year so it doesn't worry me if he picks Bazza or not. You on the other hand (loads gun....).
