Prestia - a midget playing in the mids and fwds in the youngest list in the comp with two byes in the first first nine weeks. No thanks. He's not a keeper and you won't be able to milk that cash cow until about Round 15 at the earliest. Has super sub written all over him.

Cale Morton? Bit of a dark horse not popular with coaches but I rate him.

A good unique but can turn it over a bit too much for SC. Better DT option perhaps.

Well, that's essentially why you'd pick him. Will play most games, keep him for most of the year and make the best of his MPP status, perhaps trade him out toward the end of the year to find some cash for upgrades.

Again, it comes down to the question of picking players to play an MPP role or simply just picking the best players regardless. If it's the latter then there are better options.

See that's why I wouldn't pick him. His TOG will be **** all and did I point out that he is a midget? Low TOG equals piss poor cash cow in my book. We'll have to see how it turns out this year mate cos he's all yours. I also believe there are better MPP options, not just better options overall.

He won't be in my side either! Looking to avoid too many GCS players (and not be sucked in by overdoing the MPP focus) and at this stage I'm really only considering Matera for the forward line.

I currently have 7 Suns excluding Prestia :o

However that includes Dixon up forward who I am not sure about yet

Some of them pick themselves I think - Swallow for example

I think from the Suns its pretty hard to go past, Swallow, Harris, Toy and the young ruckmen they have.

I guess the best part about the GC players is while they might not score alot you can get some $110 000 players who are going to play 15+ games providing they dont get injured and at some stage surely there value will go up.

I think Gold Coast are a gold mine of cheap rookies who will play regularly and so they demand to be considered. You don't have the same job security worries that rookies from other teams have. Of my 7 Suns in my team, 5 are close to locked, 1 is likely and Dixon is iffy.

Interesting scenario with so many Suns. I started that way but now only have 3 locked in and 2 iffys. Just from what I have seen from other rookies who I think will play alot and also score more, so I can unload them quicker.
Also less worrying byes in round 1 and 9 to contend with.

Not all that glitters is necessarily Gold Coast. There are an abundance of rookies from other clubs who I believe will offer the same or similar job security who play for better teams and don't have two byes in the first nine weeks which means earlier upgrades to keepers. I hope I play you in round one. ;) (Or sooner rather than later, you seem to generate momentum as the year goes on).

They're both MPP (D/M). Question is whether they can both fit into the Essendon starting line-up.

That's actually why I have so many Suns. If there is ever a round you can be sure you have 22 players on the field playing it's round 1. So you can safely bench the the GC players. I would expect 3 of those Suns to be gone from my team by round 9. That's how I see it anyway.

We'll have the rolling lockout again though for Thurs - Fri night.

By then we should have a good idea of who is in GC's best 22. What we won't be able to know is any last minute injuries to GC players leading up to round 2 which is the type of risk I think REB is suggesting it's better to avoid.
