There were upsets aplenty in Hogg Premier League this week with the Lance Franklin factor creating carnage. dunKsKrew has upset Dusty Tunnels to move off the bottom of the ladder as they stunned the ninth ranked side with a 72 point defeat. You'd have to think that Buddy would have changed that result. The chardies also got in on the act when they finally achieved that big win they have threatened to pull off when they knocked over Woodys Dropkicks who had won thier previous three matches. Both of these results are not good news for Woody and CoverKing.

Gingernuts, as he has pointed out, is dead stiff. Not only has he lost two matches now by one point this season his four losses combined total less than 50 points with a 25 point loss to the REBCats being his worst loss. He could have been 8-0! The Darksiders crashed to their second straight loss as they have started losing these close games that they were winning earlier in the season.

Luck has played a part for two other top eight sides as well. While Poon has scored bugger all and is in the eight somehow my REBCats have hardly had a decent score scored against them all year. Or that is the way it now looks after United could only scrape up 1527 against my Buddyless side.

The FOOTYLEDGENS somehow left Newman on the field and that was enough to let Far Q in and Mr Football has been steadily building momentum, as has Squeaky who snuck in against Gingernuts as predicted. The Blue_Guns ended a three match losing streak but probably won't be 'back in town' unless they can defeat REBCats next week.

I predicted il lose. Franklin play and I win. Fancy running into someone without Franklin the week he misses

Just can't seem to beat the good sides but have easily accounted for the four weaker sides ;)

Which won't do you a lot of good when you are playing off for the bottom eight 'premiership'.

the next three weeks for the chardonnay quaffers sees us playing sides currently sitting 7th (poon army), 6th (the squeakies who will hopfully be our toy that day) and top (Mr Q)...
we may have to switch to fortifieds to scrap a win.

Premier League Preview Round 9

REBCats vs. Blue_Guns

The Guns got back on the winners list last week with a solid victory over Hawkeye but this week they face the might of the invincible REBCats! Well, maybe not as I’ve been a bit dodgy but after finally putting a decent player into my backline this week I’m feeling pretty confident of shooting down the Guns this week. REBCats will salute and consolidate a place in the top four.

Hawkeye vs. Boxhead United

Hawkeye has been struggling a bit this season but they’ll have no trouble recording a win over Boxhead United who are at present the worst team in the Premier League after he recorded a 2007 type score of under 1600 last week. Woggy hasn’t been as productive as previous years either but Hawkeye should have no problems recording their third win for the year in this one.

Darksiders SCE vs. dunKsKrew

Darksiders SCE have now dropped their past two matches and this week they face a dunKsKrew outfit that looks set to make a stand for their season. Duncs has identified the next three clashes in Hogg Premier as crucial matchups with the stated ambition of winning two of them to remain competitive. While Darksiders SCE have hit a few snags recently they still have the team to knock over dunKsKrew in this match, but hey, two out of three is still mathematically possible!

Dusty Tunnels vs. Mr Football

Both of these teams have been pretty impressive at times this year but a glance at the ladder sees the Tunnels out of the eight and Mr Football sitting outside of the top four. At 4-4 it’s hardly crisis time for Dusty Tunnels but they really need this match as none of the other contenders have dropped matches to both FOOTYLEDGENS and dunKsKrew. To make up for these upsets CoverKing needs to continue his good record against the more highly rated sides. Mr Football has been kicking on after a slow start to the season scoring wise so this one is a real tough one to pick. I reckon that Mr Football is looking a little bit more solid at the moment and that he might just have Dusty Tunnels covered this week.

chardy socialists vs. Poon Army

Opportunity knocks here for the chardies as they take on the lowest scoring team in the top eight, Poon Army. Hammo likewise will be looking to bounce back with a victory after suffering a few setbacks in recent weeks. Last week against Woody's Dropkicks, the chardies showed they are not to be underestimated but with spiritual leader Jobe Watson back the Poon Army should go on and record an important victory. I’ll tip you one day finny!

Hondominators YSCC vs. Woody's Dropkicks

Woody’s fight back hit an iceberg last week as they were downed by chardy socialists and it doesn’t get any easier as they face up to Hondominators YSCC who moved into the top four and look to have their mojo back. The Dropkicks at their best would provide a genuine contest as was shown in Division I last year but this season Woody appears to be off his game a little. The Hondominators YSCC will do just that and keep Woody out of the eight for another week.

The Ginger Ninjas vs. Far Q

Far Q were badly shaken last week by the Cub but scrambled to a fairly unconvincing victory but the King is indeed looking a bit shaky atop the mountain. The Ginger Ninjas meanwhile, have proven themselves to be the league’s unluckiest team. While some of his ‘bad luck’ has been self inflicted it is hard to ignore Gingernuts’ improved scoring this year. In a game that The Ginger Ninjas have to win, it could prove to be a bit of a turning point for both sides this season. I’m tipping a change of luck here and that means a Ginger Ninjas victory.

FOOTYLEDGENS vs. Squeakeroos DTC

Squeakeroos DTC are starting to look the genuine article in Premier League this season and they should continue on their winning away against an ailing FOOTYLEDGENS unit. While the Cub has begun to make some remedial repairs to his squad he has squandered both trades and crucial early rounds to be a non contender this season. I can see the Cub taking some late season scalps in his relegation scrap but I can’t see him beating Squeaky this week.

This round is gone for me now ... I have Mundy dammit. 6 points. I had Woodys Dropkick covered nicely until this. I can't even cheer Pendles on tomorrow because Woody has him too and made him captain. I went with Cox. This Mundy injury sucks cox.

In fact, this could derail my season because I calculation he could drop by close to $50K

Next week I have Mundy, Swan and Pendlebury missing.

Vent over
