Yew! Crushing victory. The highest score for the round too, can't say I've ever done that before!

Nice

Sometimes you need a bit of luck in this game. A horrible week for me would have seen me get beaten by most in this league except I was fortunate enough to be playing a cellar dweller that racked up three donuts. Phew.

Yes, things went my way today. Knights went slightly better than expected, Shaw got a nice 110. Darling put in a slow game for his team. Then Hodge and Puopolo, my last 2 different players to him, scored about 250 between them and I only needed 195. Good one!

The King is dead! Long live the King! And so say all of us as Hondo cleaned up 2009 Premier League champions Darksiders to end his unbeaten run at the top of the ladder. Hondo looked to be in deep diggery doo but has scrambled home in the last match to scam a vital victory. 3-4 would not be a good look for the pre-season number one seed.

Someone else whose spincter must have been tightening would be Cover King who fell over the line by a mere five points against the luckless chardies who can't seem to get a win despite being in career best form. Speaking of unimpressive victories, the REBCats only got a win because the Cubman went off to a friend's house on Friday night and forgot to update his side...a sure sign of a coach who wants to be demoted. I'm still scratching my head to work out where those 500 points went that I got last week!

Far Q has said just that to us all after climbing the mountain to the top of the ladder. While the view must seem pretty fine up there Q Man need I remind you that the only way is down. Perhaps another one point victory might be in order. ;)

You could almost say that it is a 10 team race for the title this year although that is a little harsh on Blue_Guns who is enduring a run of losses at the moment. The top eight for this league will be very tight indeed when you consider that Woody and Dusty Tunnels are both currently sitting in ninth and tenth spot respectively. I reckon that it would be fitting for our Tiger supporting chum Dusty to finish in ninth place this season but I'm sure he won't agree.

Now, if only I could pick a captain as well as I could select Premier League winners!

Later.

Premier League Preview Round 8

REBCats vs. Boxhead United

United won’t be pulling as many donuts as last week so he’s a better chance of at least making a game of it but I’d be a shattered coach if the Cats can’t get the job done here. United has been one of the poorest scoring teams in Premier League this season so the REBCats should salute in this match or I’ll be looking for a box myself.

Hawkeye vs. Blue_Guns

Both teams are outside the eight and will have tougher matches to come in the run home. The Guns haven’t fired a shot in the last few weeks while Hawkeye has taken his eye off the ball a bit this season. With the Hawks set to take on a Fremantle sans Sandi this week Hawkeye’s 17 Hawk players should all score well. This adds up to a Hawkeye victory and a Blue day for the Guns.

Darksiders SCE vs. Mr Football

The Dark Side has just come off their first loss of the season and faces another tough challenge in Mr Football who racked up an important win over Poon Army last week. Pup should have his squad primed for a competitive effort but I find it very hard to tip against Darksiders SCE. Mr Football is going well but for me Darksiders SCE are the team to tip in what is the match of the round.

Dusty Tunnels vs. dunKsKrew

CoverKing will have his side in the top eight at the end of this round as he takes on cellar dwellers dunKsKrew. Dusty Tunnels has already dropped a match against FOOTYLEDGENS this year and simply can’t afford to lose to another relegation candidate even though it would provide me with more than a few belly laughs. Dusty Tunnels should go on and record a solid victory over dunKsKrew but with a bit of luck CoverKing will find a way to stuff this one up…hmmm, Richmond bye?

chardy socialists vs. Woody's Dropkicks

Woody's Dropkicks have turned up late to the party but they are tossing back the Woodys now that they’ve finally arrived. The chardies have been sipping at a much slower pace and as a result they are falling behind the pack. After you old boy. Anyone on the Woodies isn’t going to wait for a chardy sipper so it’s Woody's Dropkicks who are going to get the chance to toast a victory.

Hondominators YSCC vs. Poon Army

After being accused of playing ‘Bruise free’ footy last week, the Poon Army is about to get his manhood severely tested by the mighty Hondos in one of the matches of the round. Poon would be a good chance here even with Watson out as Hondo has the Watsonia hanging in the pantry as well. I reckon Hondominators YSCC will win this one as they have more depth in their squad and Hammo has forgotten the Floaties.

The Ginger Ninjas vs. Squeakeroos DTC

What a battle this one proves to be. Both of these sides have scored much better than they did last year but despite much improved form in 2011 the loser of this match will yet again be out of the top eight after eight matches. Rumour has it that Mumbles Craig has spent the entire week pestering Gingernuts for coaching advice. With a more focused coaching panel in charge, it is Squeakeroos DTC who will, ahem, squeak in.

FOOTYLEDGENS vs. Far Q

The Q Man should be able to enjoy the view on top of the ladder for another week as the Cub has three Tigers on board and is no chance of pulling off what would be a monumental upset. FOOTYLEDGENS has had a proud history in the Premier League making the finals in every season but this year it has gone pear shaped for the Cub. It looks like they’ll need an eleventh hour win in the relegation final to avoid the drop. A FOOTYLEDGENS win would be a huge boilover if it happens but I can’t see Far Q getting done here.

Yeah but doesn't have Watson and Hurley? Standing by that selection. In our game Watson got hurt and scored much less than usual which was crucial to the outcome.

If you lose to the bottom two sides that could cost you a spot in the eight!

Wow, Darksiders capitulate to a second straight defeat

Gingernuts unlucky to lose after posting +2200 which would have beaten most this week.

I feel a little lucky this round

Boomer Harvey, Knights and then Captain Judd turned in poor SC games. I was lucky Hodge had a better second half.

I won easily in the end but Poon Army had buck luck with Silvia and no cover for Franklin
