Ultimate Footy

Postby Bigshow82 » Sun Aug 26, 2012 11:07 pm

Keen to enter again next year but some thought needs to go into squad sizes and the scoring. Was very hard to bring in players with such large squads also the scoring was hard to understand. I just picked my team on who was available and crossed my fingers each week.

It certainly is floored with the scoring system as Has Been finished 3rd and he hasnt looked at his team since he 1st signed up, i just beat him in the prelim and he had only about 12 players on the field, which means he more than likely gets the 4 points for least free kicks against his players. And in my opinion is then more likely to get the 5 points for scoring accuracy by kicking say 3.1 for the week whilst other fuill teams might kick 12.10.

I'll put my hand up to start things off next year.

12 teams

Starting line up
5x defenders
6x midfielders
1x ruck
6x forwards

1 bench player from each position
5 left overs of any combo.

Scoring.
9 stats to be won.

Score
Score %
Kick
Handball
Tackle
Mark
Hit outs
Free for
Free against

1 point for each stat ie. Your whole team gets 189 kicks and your opposition gets 178 then you win the kicks etc...

NO captains

Players can be swapped in positions in a rolling, game by game lock out

The above is the format of the $50 league I'm in any really works well.

I'm sure we could stretch to 2 x 12 team leagues..

That looks pretty good to me, the only change from that I would look at would be to have score as 2 or 3 points instead of 1
but Im happy to go again next year using that model :D

There is also the option of using a supercoach/dreamteam style scoring...

Curious to why you would have score worth 2 or 3 points? Would create an un even contest IMO. If u make it 3 for example, would be a total of 11 points up for grabs and 6 needed to win.

Win the score and your half way to winning the game.

I think if you get the highest score than you should win. I guess it would mean everyone would be picking forward lines first, so maybe it wouldnt work very well.
I dont think id like to see a situation where someone scores more and they lose the game because of the free kick stats
Im pretty sure its not possible but having a bonus point for beating an opponents score by 50points, would give more incentive for scoring
Im happy to go with the 1 point each, 7 out of 10 times if you score the highest score you are going to get over the line anyway :D

I sort of agree, i would like to see more points given to the major stats, say 2 points each and just 1 point for HO, FF, FA. That way the HO potentially becaome the decider (if you split the 6 2point categories) where there is still some knowledge requried to get the most HO and to lose from there the other team has to jag both the FF and FA category which is just pot luck toss of the coin job and unlikely to happen

Thompson killing me 2.4 and 4 FA, lucky i took the C off him.
I need to win goalkicking accuracy to have any chance, J.Kelly has single handedly won the tackle count with 16

Loved the 4 FF as i have lost FA in every match this year i have learnt to deal with my clumsy side and focus on other areas. Though it would be close and might need the hitout point so gave the C to big Sandi and got the bonus of goals and FF

All will come down to accuracy as its worth 5 points, need Judd to kisk points today and my blokes to just stay the f away from the goals, hopefully McGuane plays back today

Good game this year, but Im sure we can make it great next year with a few tweeks
