Division III Round 9

Year of the Tiger vs Strawbsberries
Boongas Bulldogs vs lodge lads '10'
Punk Roosters vs Cork in the Ocean
Toolman vs TheWorstThereIs
Lioneaters vs Brownys Boys
Marion ManBearPigs vs Pigeon Stinge
Onegameatatimers vs pafc1870
Carpe Diem vs Straycat Strut

The lads from the lodge feature in the match of the round against Nuggetys Bulldogs in what should be a high scoring contest. I want lodgey to win it as the Dogs are ahead of my Strutties but I'm tipping that Boongas Bulldogs will be the winner here. Punk Roosters have recovered well to get into the top eight but will be under the pump as the Cork has come flying out of the bottle in the first eight matches and look set to record another victory.

Apparently my dire prognostications have caused great angst in Carp Team's dressing room and here's another one you can post up on the lockers: You blokes might be able to breeze past minnows like pafc1870 but this week you are playing the mighty Strutties so a loss is on the way!

There looks to be a lot of one sided clashes in round nine with the ManBearPigs and Toolman looking likely winners. Lioneaters pounced last week and showed a lot of pride and Brownys Boys might find themselves the latest morsel on the menu. Year of the Tiger can record a rare win and after I've sledged him above, I'd better select pafc1870 to have a win against the Onegameatatimers this week.

In this Division, you need to make the Grand Final to be promoted. Anyone who has a team in a higher league is ineligble to be promoted so that means if Strutties make the Grand Final then team that Strutties beat in the Prelim would go up.

Too good for me this week, Straycat Strut :) . Would have hoped 2082 might be enough, but your 2302 breezed past me.

ROUND 9

Results

Year of the Tiger 2,104 Strawbs 1,466
Boongas Bulldogs 2,452 lodge lads 2,227
Punk Roosters 2,261 Corky 2,159
Toolman 2,175 Worst 925
Brownys Boys 2,358 Lioneater 1,977
Marion ManBearPigs 2,275 Pigeon 2,138
pafc1870 2,055 Onegame 1,834
Straycat Strut 2,302 Carp 2,082

Just like in Division V, Round 9 saw the demise of an unbeaten ladder leader. Punk Roosters achieved the greatest win of their Hogg career by derailing the Cork train and making a strong claim for finals honours in 2010. Boongas Bulldogs showed their class by desposing of the lodge lads by over 200 points evcen though the lads scored over 2200 points this week. With six of the top eight winning this weekend it's not a good round for Corky, the lads and Lioneaters who have left the door of the top eight ajar with his loss to Brownys Boys.

Division III got amongst the points this week with lodge lads not being the only unlucky loser with Pigeon Stinge also showing some fine form but not being rewarded with the four points. Year of the Tiger saluted as expected and the Toolman got the mother of all percentage boosts as TheWorstThereIs scored under a thousand points to record the lowest score in the Hogg this year. Great for Toolman, not so good for Division III in the league rankings.

A nice close game boys to get that percentage down with a narrow win to the Bulldogs is what this Cat is ordering. ;)

Go to it gentlemen!

Division III Round 10

Year of the Tiger vs TheWorstThereIs
Boongas Bulldogs vs Cork in the Ocean
Punk Roosters vs lodge lads '10'
Toolman vs Strawbsberries
Lioneaters vs Straycat Strut
Marion ManBearPigs vs pafc1870
Onegameatatimers vs Pigeon Stinge
Carpe Diem vs Brownys Boys

Massive match this week in Division III as the two best sides this season Boongas Bulldogs take on Cork in the Ocean. The winner of this game will be looking at an armchair ride into Division II next season with the loser experiencing a bit of a speed hump. I reckon Corky will be the team that hits the speedbump as the Bulldogs have been sensational in recent weeks and I'm hoping it's a nice close game which does me no good at all of course if I can't defeat Lioneaters, all though I think I can tame those Lions.

Punk Roosters' giantkilling ways will be put to the test again against the lodge lads who need to win this to avoid the dreaded 'flat track bullies' tag in this division. Lodgey need a scalp here or they could find themselves out of the top four come the season's end with Punk Roosters starting to follow the Dutchy improvement curve which has seen him emerge as a Division III contender this season. Pigeon has been a bit unlucky in recent matches but this week fortune smiles on the Stinge and they can rack up a win. Year of the Tiger and Toolman are monties and Brownys Boys won't have it all their own way against Carp but they should salute. MarionBearPigs should rack up another win to keep the heat on for a top four spot.

Will be pretty close in end I reckon.

For this round, the Corkies need 116 between Dangerfield and Davis today to limp past the Boongas Bulldogs and hold top spot.
