ROUND 11

Results

Leisa's Lovelies 2,168 def 1,390 PicklesPA
Supre Cil Dluohs 2,036 def by 2,331 wycbloods
Captain Who? 2,156 def 2,139 Matty's Knights
Hondominators YSCC 2,410 def 1,981 Blue Boy
cobras 2,012 def 1,938 LKIF
Mosquitoes 2,198 def by 2,398 CoverKing's Army
The Browns 2,030 def by 2,369 Woodys Dropkick
The Dark Knights 2,233 def by 2,325 Dutchys Dodos

A couple of big results this week in Division I with wycbloods smashing the Supres and Dutchy's Dodos cleaning up The Dark Knights. The Dark Knights are looking unlikely now for a top four spot even though they're not that far behind the encumbents. wyc's excellent score has seen him vault into the top eight and Hondo has smashed yet another side to sneak his way up to 5th spot on the ladder.

Woody and CoverKing looked solid once again but Captain Who appears to have the wobbles on at the moment as he only just got over the line against Matty's Knights who haven't been scaring anyone in recent matches. I'm sick of talking up the Mozzies as they keep dropping matches but the biggest upset of the round was from the cobras who broke their duck against LKIF who look GAWN for the season. Last year this side nearly qualified for Hogg Premier League so the contenders in Division I take note: TAKE YOUR OPPORTUNITIES. 8)

Division I Round 12

Leisa's Lovelies vs Dutchys Dodos
Supre Cil Dluohs vs Woodys Dropkick
Captain Who? vs CoverKing's Army
Hondominators YSCC vs LKIF
cobras vs Blue Boy
Mosquitoes vs Matty's Knights
The Browns vs wycbloods
The Dark Knights vs PicklesPA

Some HUGE clashes in Division I this week with none bigger than the seemingly unbeatable Woodys Dropkick and the team that just won't go away Supre Cil Dluohs. Woody look to be too strong in all departments but this could be a danger game for the Dropkicks as SCD has proven himself to be a very feisty customer in this grade. I'll tip with the head here and back our new Hogg rankings leader Woody.

CoverKing has elected to roll the dice but I'm not sure that Captain Who is the side to be doing it against and I reckon that luck won't come to the rescue this week. You aren't playing cobras this week CK! Hondo must be licking his lips at the moment as a win over LKIF will put him within striking distance of the top four although he has a horrendous run home. If Hondo can make the top four I'm tipping him to be in Hogg Premier next season.

Dutchy's Dodos faces a tricky match up with Leisa's Lovelies one of the rare teams to go in sans Ablett. In fact, I'm tipping the upset here I just think that Dutchy might get rolled despite his excellent form this season (well, it was about time I tipped Mrs REB). The rest of the games look a little more straightforward - Blue Boy should beat cobras and frankly there's no way that Dark Knights or wycbloods will lose. Perhaps the only tricky one is Mozzies and Matty's Knights but as usual I'm tipping the Mozzies who score well but don't win games because I keep tipping them.

ROUND 12

Results

Leisa's Lovelies 2,103 def by 2,287 Dutchys Dodos
Supre Cil Dluohs 2,111 def by 2,334 Woodys Dropkick
Captain Who? 1,924 def by 2,096 CoverKing's Army
Hondominators YSCC 2,242 def 1,772 LKIF
cobras 1,588 def by 1,879 Blue Boy
Mosquitoes 1,983 def by 2,036 Matty's Knights
The Browns 2,008 def by 2,070 wycbloods
The Dark Knights 1,919 def 1,507 PicklesPA

Looks like the final eight is settled in Division I as the top eight have a healthy two game buffer over the teams who now appear to be making up the numbers. This gap in class has become apparent over the last couple of weeks and now that I've tipped Mosquitoes into oblivion the top eight can now jostle for top four spots.

Hondo's elevation to the top flight appears to be moving towards its seemingly inevitable conclusion as they cleaned up LKIF with ease. CoverKing keeps finding ways to win and cleaned up Captain Who? appears to be slipping slightly over the journey ARRRR. SCD put up a Supre fight against the Dropkicks but once again the Dropkicks had the Woody on their opponent. Dutchy, wycbloods and the Dark Knights all had predictable wins with Blue Boy winning a match that puts him one game further away from the dubious honour of being relegated twice in two seasons.

Division I Round 13

Leisa's Lovelies vs Woodys Dropkick
Supre Cil Dluohs vs Dutchys Dodos
Captain Who? vs LKIF
Hondominators YSCC vs CoverKing's Army
cobras vs Matty's Knights
Mosquitoes vs Blue Boy
The Browns vs PicklesPA
The Dark Knights vs wycbloods

The big match between Hondo and CoverKing is the highlight of Division I this week even though their next match will probably prove to be far more crucial. With perhaps both sides not making any moves this week I'll tip against CoverKing who hasn't been scoring as well as Hondo over the last few weeks but if CoverKing decides to trade after all then he can go on to record the win. I'm tipping that CoverKing will go conservative here and retain his trades for the more important clashes later on which means it's a Hondo victory for mine.

With the eight just about set in Division I the main interest here is the jostling for top four spots. Dutchy's Dodos and those Supre Dlouhs are fighting it out for a spot in the four with the winner still a chance to get there with so many top four contenders squaring off in the final few rounds. I'm liking Captain Cashman aka Dutchy to record a win in this game. wycbloods is the only side who is vulnerable to being unseated from the eight but I reckon he can secure his top eight spot this week against The Dark Knights.

In the other games Woody will end Leisa's year but Matty's Knights and the Mozzies should get up so that makes Blue Boy a complete certainty. The Browns finally get their hands on Pickles and Captain Who should get the job done against LKIF.

ROUND 13

Results
Leisa's Lovelies 2,003 def 1,958 Woodys Dropkick
Supre Cil Dluohs 2,115 def by 2,229 Dutchys Dodos
Captain Who? 2,048 def 1,795 LKIF
Hondominators YSCC 2,102 def by 2,238 CoverKing's Army
cobras 1,688 def by 2,149 Matty's Knights
Mosquitoes 2,051 def 1,959 Blue Boy
The Browns 2,084 def 1,615 PicklesPA
The Dark Knights 2,025 def by 2,027 wycbloods

Leisa's Lovelies pulled off the Hogg upset of the year when she defeated the highly ranked Woodys Dropkick to put CoverKing within reach of the minor premiership. Woody dominated in Division III last season but fell away badly in August and perhaps this upset loss is a sign of things to come for Woody.

CoverKing won the big showdown with Hondo to send him crashing out of the top four and with two tough matches to come before the finals. All of a sudden Hondo is doing it tough! wycbloods scored a vitally important two point result over the Dark Knights that has probably ensured that he plays finals this year.

Dutchy's Dodos are another side who has done well this week and the Dutchman has rolled into the top four of Division I and could be a surprise Hogg Premier coach next season. Dutchy's win over Supre Cil Dlouhs has made it difficult now for SCD to get into the top four.

Division I Round 14

Leisa's Lovelies vs CoverKing's Army
Supre Cil Dluohs vs LKIF
Captain Who? vs Dutchys Dodos
Hondominators YSCC vs Woodys Dropkick
cobras vs wycbloods
Mosquitoes vs PicklesPA
The Browns vs Blue Boy
The Dark Knights vs Matty's Knights

Two top sides coming off a loss last week feature in the Division I match of the round with Hondo taking on Woody. Hondo needs to beat one of these gun sides to make top four in Division I with the match against Dutchy to follow next week. I reckon that Woody is too solid though and that he'll bounce back from last week's shock loss to consign Hondo to a series of cut throat finals in August. The Dutchy versus Groover (Captain Who) match up may leave the door open if Captain Who can get the job done but I reckon Dutchy is looking pretty good at the moment and since he's started thinking about SuperCoach like a bet he's been pretty darn good. Captain Who won't get their Groover back this week and Dutchy will win and secure a top four spot and a shot at Hogg Premier.

The three sides on six wins are hoping that wycbloods slips up but this is unlikely as he faces the unimpressive cobras combination this week. However, the coach of the cobras has returned from overseas this week and will have trades to burn and will be trading heavily as the cobras remain in the hunt for a Division IV finals berth. But you can't undo weeks of neglect with one or two trades so bloods should be ok and close the door on those seeking a top eight spot. Supre Cil Dluohs should likewise salute this week although LKIF is a tougher opponent than the cobras.

CoverKing will end Leisa's Lovelies year in Division I and The Dark Knights should win the Knights derby. The Browns will beat the boy that is Blue and this time I'm confident about my Mozzies tip but it was all too late she cried.

Woody and I have 14 of the same players. He has a couple of guns I don't have and vice versa. I like my Swan v Watson match up. Franklin v Chapman will be crucial. Unless he trades he has 2 potential weak points in Hall and Waters to match my weak points in Webberley and Rockliff.

Unfortunately for me Heath Shaw is out and I reckon he would have had a big one v Richmond.

Captain choice will be crucial as well.

Should be very close.

I traded out a fit player in Hunt and now it looks like I could lose Goodwin for the season. A stupid trade in hindsight.

That will teach me for trading before i see the final teams. If I had know he was out with a mystery injury I would have held fire on Hunt.

The Dark Knights 2350 Matty's 2142

With the top eight all done and dusted the big news in Division I this week is that Woody has lost top spot after pulling his second sub-2000 score in as many weeks. Hondo’s victory over Woodys Dropkicks sees his Hondominators sneak into the top four. CoverKing is now top of the ladder after recording a low scoring victory over Leisa’s Lovelies.

Captain Who has seen off Dutchy in a high quality match which should secure Groover’s spot in the top four in Division I. Dutchy faces a tough task to rebound against Hondo next week for the final top four spot. I haven’t written too much about The Browns this season but they picked a good week to rack up a big score and their solid win over Blue Boy sees them escape from the relegation zone with perfect timing. Big scores were the order of the day in Division I and the finals series here should be an absolute beauty.

Don't write woody off just yet

He had bad luck with his captain choice of Montagna. He lost up to 150 points with that one decision. He also benched Barry Hall (99) and played Lockyer (58).

I was missing Shaw and we both missed Goodwin

A week after beating me I outscore coverking  ;) With players getting rested the finals here could come down to who has spare trades and/or who is prepared to use them early to ensure wins.

Super week ahead with a few Previews for finals. 3 of the 8 games this week have top 8 team playing each other. If all things work out some teams could be facing off 2 weeks in a row!

I am torn with what to do this week. I could potentially be missing Goodwin (definite), Enright and Heath Shaw out of my defence. All with potentially only 1 week off. Do I trade for the W v Dutchy or just let it ride for the finals. Problem in Div 1 is that if you miss top 4 you could easily be out on your backside after week 1 of the finals!

Hopefully Shaw is OK but Goodwin's injury doesn't sound promising. I may have to cut my losses on him.

Dunno :?
