Round 7 Trades

Postby Q. » Sun May 02, 2010 11:17 pm

Barring a repeat of last week's omissions fiasco, Bastinac is gone for a premium.

Selwood has probably bottomed out and hopefully with him getting a lot of the ball against Richmond it has helped play him into a bit of form. Hard to go past him at $518K. Muprhy, NDS and Swan have also dipped a bit in value and are in the mix.

Up forward, Ben Warren is killing me week in week out. Might be time to make a change there too.

On the AFL Dreamteam side of things, Its time to start looking at upgrading some rookies with good value across the board.
Defenders: Hargrave and Cornes both under 300k!
Mids: Selwood, Hayes and Swan defenately the cheapest we will see them
Rucks: Not much value but get on Cox now if you dont have him
Fwds: So many options here, Stevie J, Didak, Davis, Byrnes, Franklin all at very tasty prices!

Roughead has to go.
A goalpost is as productive as him at the moment.

I reckon I might jump off Goodwin. He hasn't looked right since he got that knock to the knee. Davis despite one price rise might be a good cash saver for Goodwin. Then, like Quichey, it's time for Bastinac to be upgraded.

Seaby out for 12 weeks!

Another LTI forced trade for many coaches.

Also, Maguire and Welsh handed down suspensions at the tribunal.

Goody was my most consistent player last year, but this year I traded him out when he was in doubt against Melbourne for Malceski, who has is having a stellar year so far and was much cheaper at the time.

Wow, great move! I am sorry I didn't move on Malceski earlier and now the horse has bolted.

Rational thinking now says I have to ride it out with Goody. Surely he will come good.

Probably my biggest regret of the year thus far, picking Ellis over Eski. Of course we have missed out on most of his value and his prolific scoring to date, but if he continues his form throughout the year he is still a good deal at his current price.

He's still good value at $446K I reckon but has a break-even of only 18 and if he gets another 100 he's up to $486K!

I spent too much time consumed with Tippett and Clark before the round 3 price change and let him go though to the keeper

None in DT, but for SC I'm looking at:

Medhurst -> Fyfe
Ziebell -> Pavlich

Bringing these two in though will mean I have 5 Dockers  (Duffield, Silvagni, Sandilands, Fyfe & Pavlich). Just a bit worried about that.
Crooked as a hooker.
Now suck my thumb.

I am in a similar boat Ingall. I have heaps of dockers in my side and need to fix that up over the next few weeks. I have Fyfe, Broughton, Sandilands, Barlow, Ballantyne and Pavlich.

If I need to try and work some premiums into my forward line over the next few weeks but i am relatively happy with how my defence and midfield are looking.

I will be looking at upgrading Ballantyne or Gumbleton to Franklin this week or next.

I am able to do a two trade to upgrade to J. Brown, but thinking i will try and ride my luck a bit this week, and even the next, and get him on a bit lower price. He is only 521k at the moment, but with a break even of 134 he has the potential to drop quite a bit in value, especially if Freo control the game against the Lions. He will get a lot closer attention from McPharlin then he did last week IMO as they wont be as creative off Brown, which will make it a bit harder for him to score.

Im hoping Ziebell and/or Medhurst can post reasonable scores in the next two weeks to bump up their price and then they are goneskis.

Unlike everyone else, i really like the look of Gumbleton, and even though he has done SFA to start off with, i think he is really coming good and will start posting some reasonable scores 80+ as a bench player which would be handy. I think he will be great value next year aswell even at 300k, because he will be a star IMO.

Freo in the next few games have; Brisbane at the GABBA, Collingwood at Subi and Swans at SCG.
Some tough games with close checking teams.
The high scores may disappear in the very near future.

Ottens out with a stress fracture for 6 weeks apparently.

Tippett could be a good replacement at the bargain basement he is at the moment. He's been pretty good the last couple of weeks and I don't reckon he's far away from it (I hope so anyway, I've stuck with him so far this year!). Otherwise their really isn't any ruckmen setting the world alight this year besides Sandilands.

Petterd out for 4 months

MELBOURNE forward Ricky Petterd faces four months on the sidelines after surgery on his right shoulder.

Petterd dislocated his right shoulder in a marking contest during the fourth quarter of Melbourne’s loss to North Melbourne on Saturday.

The Demons said this morning that immediate surgery was the best course of action to stabilise the shoulder after "substantial damage to the cartilage rim".

“This is obviously disappointing for Ricky and the club," football manager Chris Connolly said.

"After our meeting with the surgeon this week, it was clear that having the operation now would allow Ricky to have a full recovery, and get him back to playing football with no long term issues."

Petterd has had a roller-coaster season, displaying good form but dropping a mark seconds before the siren that could have given the Demons a win against Collingwood in Round 2.

Coach Dean Bailey said the injury was a blow to Petterd and the team.

"Ricky's not too good, the injury's a little bit more severe than we thought,'' Bailey said.

"It popped out a couple of times during the game ... if you think the worst-case scenario, I don't think you're too far away.

"It's disappointing for Rick because he was just starting to stamp himself and become a real regular performer for us in the forward line and a goal kicker.

"We're going to miss his talent and his ability to kick goals for the next period of time.''

They do have a tough run, but I think I need to start getting some premiums in to the side, and to do that I've got to downgrade to someone. Except maybe for Cunnington, Fyfe seems to be about the only option at the moment.

And apart from Pavlich, the only other player that I was looking at were Goodes who isn't exactly setting the world on fire. Gia/Sylvia could be worth a punt though, or I could be ballsy and go with Neon Leon. 8)

looking at a couple of trades this week, i might downgrade Everitt to Davis and make $127K and pull in Hargrave for Hunt or Raines as he has bottomed out severely and will pick up in the next few weeks i would think!

will be chewing until Friday...
