Hogg Premier League and Hogg Division I
Now that there are 18 teams rather than 16 this means that the bottom two sides will miss out on playing in a ‘bottom eight’ finals series. This means that this season there will be no relegation finals.
Relegation: 17th and 18th relegated
Promotion: Hogg Division I Grand Finalists promoted to Hogg Premier League
Hogg Division II
This league is a bit different as two teams go up and four get relegated.
Relegation: 15th-18th relegated
Promotion: Grand Finalists promoted to Hogg Division I
Hogg Division III and Hogg Division IV
It’s easy to work out these leagues.
Relegation: 15th-18th relegated
Promotion: Preliminary Finalists promoted
In Division III The Cat Empire cannot be promoted. In the event of The Cat Empire finishing in the Preliminary Final or better the highest ranked (i.e. total points) beaten Semi Finalist will be promoted.
Hogg Division V
Relegation: 15th – 18th relegated to the Bunny Bowl
Promotion: Preliminary Finalists promoted
whufc cannot be promoted to Division IV. In the event of whufc finishing in the Preliminary Final or better the highest ranked (total points) beaten Semi Finalist will be promoted.
There are quite a few teams that play in Division V and The Bunny Bowl. If one of these sides is bottom four in Division V but makes the Bunny Bowl Prelim or better then that team will not be relegated and only three sides would go down. The only difference for next year would be that the team would no longer be in the Bunny Bowl.
Bunny Bowl
Promotion: Preliminary Finalists promoted to Hogg Division V (uniques only)
Relegation: Not possible
Some struggling teams have a place in two leagues. If a side is in Division III as well as the Bunny and they make the Prelim they will not be promoted. Only uniques such as Parkys Crusaders, Bretts razorbacks and iSwitCh have the opportunity to be promoted as they do not appear in any other Hogg league (Piglet excepted). The majority of the uniques are long time residents of the Warren though so promotion is probably unlikely.
If you are a Bunnyhop or Northern Cats and are dominating in the lower grade then you will not be in the Bunny next year as invites would go out to the lower scoring teams to make it a true Bunny Bowl in 2013. Worth the Waite and BlueGunners I’m talking about you. Anyone invited to the Bunny who is in a higher division will not cop a double or triple relegation (i.e. on current form Waite would be invited to the Bunny but would also be in Division III next year).
Newbies and Dropouts
This is the tough part. When people drop out I try to reward our loyal coaches. But next year McAlmanac who has had a top year in SC might want to join the Hogg. Now he would start pretty low in our structure if everyone rejoins but if any of you guys want to drop out then gives me all the excuse I need to put him in a much higher division as vacant spots are allocated by rankings points and as many found out this year this can result in a rapid advance through the divisions. Normally each year there is a new division and no Divvy V coaches I won’t be putting newbies in the Bunny unless they are complete and utter newbies to the game.
Piglet Shield
Family league. Invitational only.
The aim of the Hogg is evenly matched play and a general improvement in the league rankings and so far I think we’ve managed to do this which is a minor miracle considering we now have 118 coaches in the Hogg. Each year we lose a few but gain a bit more so the Hogg has so far been getting bigger and better each year.
