It was absolutely brilliant. He knows how to put on a show. The band he had was really tight and added a new dimension to his songs. I was lucky enough to get into the soundcheck which was an amazing experience. They played for about half an hour or so (maybe a bit less) to o crowd of about 30 people. It was really cool just to see a really casual approach to the live music. Got a very brief chance to meet him when he signed a poster for me, but in the heat of the moment could only muster up a "how ya going?". Pretty lame in hindsight.
Anyway back to the show, they played some obscure KISS songs and a lot off his 78 solo album. In between songs he would spontaneously play songs that were shouted out by the crowd and seemed to really enjoy having a go at songs off the cuff. It was really loud being up the front, but it was cool as i also got a couple of picks which were thrown my way. But it was great to feel young and enthusiastic again for a night, back to being nearly 40 again today. I know this is probably a biased comment, but if you weren;t there you missed one of the best live shows I have ever been to. It even topped the 97 reunion tour for me.
