Paul Dempsey- from Something for Kate has just announce he wil be on leave from the band for the forseeable future while he records a new solo album- much the same as bernard fanning has from powderfinger and kevin whathisname from jebba's.

Should be good- puts on a very good solo show for those who like their music pretty mellow

the one problem i have with people going out on their own away from the band is that sometimes they sound just like the band did.

Tim Rogers, "Bob Evans" and Bernad Fannings solo stuff is very different than their bands music.

I think the time is right for Paul to do his own solo stuff, he has always done a fair few solo shows and SFK were probably due to take a break. Kevin Mtichell (Bob Evans), Tim Rogers and Bernard Fanning's solo stuff has been very different from that of their bands and have all proved to be fairly successful. Also as with Something for Kate these all have been in groups where it hasn't just been about the frontman and have had stable line-ups for sometime.

Yeah not on the SFK website yet- pretty sure I saw it on ninemsn or similar.
I think he'd struggle to sound like some of SFK's early work (Anarchitect/Like Bankrobbers/Dean Martin etc etc)- they were one of the loudest going around on their first few albums.
Agree they are due for a break- they have been releasing albums constantly and touring only just less than timmy himself for the last decade- anyone seen the bass guitarist Stephanie Ashworth from the band (Dempseys missus I believe)- I will miss her very much-she is a sexy little minx
