It's out of these three.

Ben Lee - Catch My Disease
Bernard Fanning - Wish you well
Nickelback - Photograph

Hard to seperate the three as all three are what down and dirty good old rock and roll is all about. And capture the spirit of rebellion that rock music is famous for.

Gwen Stefani's What You Waiting For was a great example of what a top 40 pop song could be. I thought it was pretty cool. For another top 40 chune I thought Blink 182s I Miss U was a corker. Put Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz in there also.

For my ultimate song of the year though, I'm gonna go for Nick Cave's Breathless. Beautiful.

With a close second to Black & White Town by the Doves. They were awesome in concert too.

Third to Precious by Depeche Mode. I could keep going...

Read the last paragraph. What do you reckon?
Not much rebellion me thinks in these three songs.

1. audioslave - your time has come
2. wolfmother - woman
3. kanye west - i heard em say

couldn't really tell what to give #1 so i went to my ipod play-count because it doesn't lie... according to most played it was audioslave, the rage against the machine guys sound ridiculously tight, it was a pleasure to listen to. chris cornell sounds pretty rough these days but a good rock track nonetheless. tom morello's little solo with tim's bass plodding along... f**kin awesome to quote spiderbait

maybe if wolfmother hadn't come out so late in the year it would have caught up but once again the difference a bit of good production can make to a track... the album version kicks arse cranked up

kanye west was my suprise of the year. the first proper track on late registration is just unreal. a track to get lost in.

Yes, I skimmed over the last paragraph- blame our instant coffee/drive through meal/15 minute photograph society for that!
I'm a big wrap for Jesus Of Suburbia, as it's a long time since we've had an epic song on the radio (clocks in at 9:15), and for mine, there's no filler in there to drag it out. Gorillaz "Feel Good Inc" would have to be up there (depsite the fact I think I prefer "Dare"). Gwen Stafani could have a couple nominated. I prefer Hollabck Girl over What You Waitning For, personally, but agree with the merit of it's nomination.

PS Blink 182 "I Miss You" is not 2005
PSS Glad to see Coldplay absent!
PSSS anyone nominating Schnappi/Crazy Frog will be instantly evicted form the site, hunted down & humiliated

I have a version of that i have done myself with the tempo uped and a few things like that, and the vocals from a slowed down version of The Next Episode (Dre and Snoop), sounds better than the Kanye West one IMHO.
