Former frontman of Yothu Yindu, Mr Yunupingu, has passed away at 56. Way too young.

Sorry LL, just a small edit - as per the tribal rawn (law)

"Any Yolngu (person) need for follow our rawm (law) That means telling people about not writing or saying our beloved elders dames when they leave us"

Others need to be strong and united in educating the wider community about these protocols. This is written in respecting the Unupingu Bapurru from the Manggalili connection.

Saw Yothu Yindi up at Flinders Uni tavern in the late 80s, before they were very widely known. Opened their set with a traditional dance performance, then moved into their more "pop" songs. I remember "Mainstream" was on the playlist. Even the regulars playing darts stopped tossing their missiles and watched the gig; this is high implicit praise, since I can only recall one other band having the same effect.
