You're spot on there, mate. They were bloody awful.
Whoa...whoa.....hang on.
I'd imagine we are all huge Mike Patton fans and love anything he has been involved in.
But to say "I'm doing an album of 60's Italian music with an orchestra..." and then moments later say "What year is this....seriously, Wolfmother".
Cant have it both ways Mikey.

What's wrong anyway with someone doing stuff that the has another era feel about it.
I'm not a big wolfmother fan but I'm too young to have seen led zeppelin live or remember the hype around them. If another band gives me a tiny taste of that I'm all for it.
Waiver- I'm not saying wolfmother are even in the same planet of talent as led zeppelin

Nothing at all. If you didn't want to listen to something that hadn't been done before, you wouldn't listen to anything after 1990. Difference is if it's for commercial reasons. Mike patton didn't make a cd singing 60's Italian music to make money.

Exactly. Patton is a good enough vocalist, musician and composer that he can pull it off.

They'd be up there, that's for sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like the point TSG was trying to make was that Wolfmother played 'retro' music because it was deemed to be in fashion at the time a la Jet. The Mondo Cane project, as well as most of Patton's post Faith No More output has been anything but commercial.

Yeah sorry i was more saying that i cant blame Wolfmother for doing something that is commercial, it doesnt take much for me to misunderstand.
Unfortunatly much like sports stars once you get to the elite your love becomes a job and there obviously becomes financial demands that need to met.

I've seen Wolfmother, Faith No More and Tomahawk live a combined 6 times between them (3,1,2), and one thing I can say out of those bands Wolfmother put on a kick arse live show. Faith No More at Soundwave put in a half arsed effort, Tomahawk at the BDO weren't too bad, and Tomahawk at Soundwave in Perth were a disgrace and with how much their crowd dwindled down by the end I wasn't the only one who thought that.
I love Mike Patton and Faith No More, but sometimes he should keep his mouth shut

Saw Tomahawk at the bdo the first time they played there, and they were awesome. Saw FNM at soundwave a few years ago, and to be honest, I was heavily under the influence to give a review, but I did enjoy the show.
