Your First Concert

What was:

- The first concert you ever attended and remember, and

- The first concert you attended on your own.

I remember two very early ones, but can't remember for sure which one was first. ABBA at Football Park in 1977, and Little River Band at Festival Theatre in 1977 also. Mum used to be the president of the LRB Fan Club, so we would sit in the front row of the concerts. Clearly remember being hoisted up on stage by Glenn Shorrock, because apparently, I was singing along word perfect to all of their songs.
ABBA, I certainly remember going to with my uncle and mum, but only dim memories of the songs etc.

- First concert on my own was Johnny Diesel and The Injectors, supported by Georgia Satellites, 1988, Thebarton Theatre. Still one of the best concerts I've ever seen, loved every moment of it, although could hardly hear the next day - was right near the front.

Dire Straits in Darwin. would have been around 27 or 28 years ago. would have been around 10 at the time. Pissed down with rain all night and couldn't wait for the concert to finish so my old man could take me home.

U2 at footy park was my first "big" concert it was ok, but we sat in the "bleaches" and it was hard to really get into it as the missus was 8 1/2 months in preggers.

the one i most enjoyed was the recent AC/DC concert at adelaide oval, on the oval about 30 meters from the run way just had a great time and a good night out after the concert was finished.

First concert: April 4 1985 Melbourne Showgrounds Born In the USA Tour - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band

First concert without my old man and with mates instead would have probably been The Angels Liveline Tour at Thebby Theatre around 1988.

Edit: Just remember my best mate dragged me to a Lionel Ritchie concert in 1986 (Dancing on the Ceiling tour at War Memorial). My mum is still shitty that I got to see someone I hated and she loved!

I can tell you the first 3 concerts I went to...

Jimmy Barnes, Jimmy Barnes and Jimmy Barnes

The years are a little sketchy - probably the first one around 1995.

SNAP, I was 16 at the time, was living at Katherine and they ran 3 buses up to Darwin for the night.

Pissed down, everyone was wet all the way home to Katherine, everyone was pissed, stoned or both so it didn't really matter.

Blink 182 at the Entertainment Centre in about 2001.

Was a last minute invite for me after footy, so I drove myself and Ace of Spades from Balaklava to my house in West Croydon to meet Swamp Donkey and co. I only remember it because we set a new record for quickest time between the 2 houses. Was a touch under 45 minutes!
Then afterwards caught a taxi back home before going back in to the city but a mate left his jumper in the taxi. Chased the taxi down on Port Road and was doing well over 100km, then he pulled over. Got the jumper back. 8)

Very stupid and wouldn't and haven't driven like that since. But the concert was good! :D
