Weddings Parties Anything

Just curious if anyone here saw them live many times? I always seemed to miss them when they were around, but their best of, "Trophy Night" is probably close to being worn out in my CD collection. Honestly can't think of a dud track on there, one of the most underrated bands to come out of Australia in the last 30 years. Most people know them through "Fathers Day" (ARIA winner for Song Of The Year in 1993 - one of the lowest charting singles ever to do so, peaking at #42), but from "Hungry Years", "Roaring Days", "Sargeant Small" (cover of an old Tex Morton song), "A Ticket In Tatts", "Monday's Experts"....there really aren't many of theirs I can't listen to over and over again.

Any other secret "Wedheads" out there? Mick Thomas, in particular, is a fanatical footy follower and has written several songs about it (parts of the song "Under The Clocks" was actually the theme music for "Total SANFL" on C31 back in 2006). I thought I read he was a Fremantle fan, but saw that he is selling WPA Melbourne FC scarves on his website.

Just for the record Mick Thomas is a fanatical St Kilda supporter. I've met him a couple of times....I don't mention I'm a Crows supporter!

Squeezebox Wal from the group is also a massive footy fan.
He's a Kangaroos supporter.

I too have Trophy Night and I also give it a good thrashing. The boys tell a good tale.

For example: A Tale They Won't Believe. one of the great songs of all time.

Cheers for that, LL. I think the article I read mentioned a gig they played in WA where he wore the Dockers jumper and started a crowd singalong to the club song after a big interstate win. St Kilda makes absolute sense though, hearing how many times he references them in their songs.

DW - "A Tale They Won't Believe" is a cracker. If anyone can listen to that without tapping their foot, then....

Had to laugh at reading some stories of the band. Similar to the old Skyhooks tradition when the band played "Smut" and were showered in Twisties by the fans, Mick Thomas had to start pleading with fans to stop throwing ten cent pieces onto the stage when they played "Ticket In Tatts" :)

Saw them at the Big Ticket and (I think) Old Lion a few times, a terrific live band.

Was one of the interviewees in the Documentary/Book "Boys and Balls" by Brain Nankervis in the early 90s. He is still dirty that he was made to stay home while his older brother went and watched the 1966 GF with his old Man.

Great book, still spewing I lent it to someone and I didn't get it back, ******* Collingwood supporters....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
