Here goes If this has been done before im sorry but i am starting this for over rated songs. here is my top 5.
1. Copperhead Road IMO this is an over rated song. It is a hill billy anthem.
2. Ita by Cold Chisel. I am a Chisel Fan but this is not one of my favourite songs.
3. Tell Laura I Love Her. I cringe with this song many a good 60's collection I have not brought because of this song.
4. My Sharona. One hit wonder and one that seems never to go away
5. I am Woman need i say more

Did a quick google and Stairway to Heaven and Bohemiam Rhapsody are very prominent.
Others that are prominent included any U2 song, Wonderwall by Oasis, Teen Spirit by Nirvana, Sweet Child of Mine - G&R and Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison.
Bands that get a good belting in this category are U2, The Doors, KISS, Cold Play, Kings of Leon, Metallica and Pearl Jam.

American Pie - like fingernails going down a blackboard!!! Long, boring and dull......THIS SONG WAS BANNED AT MY WEDDING!!!
Copperhead Road - stupid "redneck" song for people with nothing up top!!! Reminds me of the movie "Deliverance!!"
Bohemian Rhapsody - like Queen but come on ??? For its time - yes. I cringe when this comes on now - over played to death!!!
Stairway to Heaven - not Lep's best and to me a complete overindulgence!!! Trying to be too smart for their own good.
Holy Grail - sorry H&C fans. This song is way overated. Boring chord structure stolen from BOSTON"S - MORE THAN A FEELING. Wish the footy on TV would stop playing this.
Hanging on a moment - One hit wonder by Lifehouse (thank God!!)....the song shits me to tears....when I used to go see cover bands this one was always played. Can't stand it.
Eyes wide open - Creed...ummmmm...no other comment required!! A big yawn!!
Light my fire - The Doors to me are one of the most overated bands in the history of music. I enjoyed the movie though...but man, they bore me!!
Echo Beach - A shocker......will turn this off if it comes on radio. Gee - just thinking of it now makes my skin crawl!!!
Aga Doo - still on top of my list of the most awful song of all time so I thought stuff it...its on my overated list too!! Black Lace ....grrrr!!!
Everybody hurts - please dont leave me scissors or razor blades around the place. This is such an overated REM song.....and a downer.
