The Pixies coming in March

Postby Leaping Lindner » Thu Sep 03, 2009 11:35 am

The Pixies are coming back to OZ in March, so it looks like no BDO for them anyway. No loss they're much better to see as the main act anyway. They are following the recent trend of acts doing particular albums, and naturally enough they are doing Doolittle. If you missed them in 2007 see them I can't recommend them highly enough.

Legendary 90s rock group The Pixies will play Australia in March, it was revealed this morning.

According to a report at Under The Radar - a New Zealand website - the group will play Auckland's Vector Arena on March 12, with dates in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth to follow.

The shows are in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark album Doolittle, and to mark the ocassion the group will play that album from start to finish, as well as various b-sides and rarities related to that period.

The Pixies last toured Australia in 2007 as part of the inaugural Australian V Festival.

MARCH

14 - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, NSW
18 - Convention Centre, Brisbane, QLD
20 - Festival Hall, Melbourne, VIC
24 - Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide, SA
27 - Belvoir Amphitheatre, Perth, WA

Tickets to all shows are on sale 2pm, Friday, September 18.

One of my favourite bands and Doolittle is one of my top 3 favourite albums - the chance to see it played in full would be a cool 35 minutes or so!

But I dunno, there's something a bit sad about these guys continuously cashing in on past glories and steadfastly refusing to get back in the studio and do anything new. Even Neil Diamond gets off his arse and records now and then!
