This is just the first bit...it's long article so I won't copy it all...
Oasis split as Noel quits group

Noel Gallagher has quit rock band Oasis, saying he can no longer work with his brother Liam.

Noel, the group's lead guitarist and chief songwriter, has recently been involved in a series of rows with frontman Liam.

The guitarist said: "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

"People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

Referring to the remaining shows of their current world tour, he added: "Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

Noel Gallagher leaves Oasis

Postby Mr66 » Sun Aug 30, 2009 12:54 am

He's finally had enough with Liam
http://www.independant.co.uk/.../noel-gallagher-leaves-oasis-unable-to-work-with-liam-1778999.html

Why doesn't he do what every other older brother does and beat him up?

Can only hope Noel releases a solo album...better singer than Liam IMO and writer too. I think it would fantastic.

Liam has always been a tool.

Love the band and was hoping they would go on but think Noel has made the right call here....

They had one and a half really good albums IMO and they were a long time ago. Close the door on the way out...

Love them or loath them you cant underestimate the influence they have had on the music scene for the past 15 years (especially in the UK).

Noel has been talking about a solo album for some time now so i wouldnt be surprised if he has one out within the next 6 months. Liam will probably continue with the other band members (not sure if he still be allowed to operate under "oasis")

Hopefully Noel gets a gig on tv. Very funny man and still gives the best interviews out of anyone in the music world today.

Arguably not for the better though. How many pedestrian meat-and-two-veg British bands have come and gone in their wake? Anyone remember Shed Seven? Embrace? Ocean Colour Scene? Heavy Stereo? Libertines? Thought not...

They should have done like their (arguably much more influential) heroes the Stone Roses did - quit after their first two killer albums - and their legend would have remained untarnished.

Their first was a huge burst of fresh air when it came out, no messing about, Quo-tastic hooks, a big dumb classic of an album. Then they got into strings. And the syrupy side of the Beatles (Let it Be, Hey Jude etc) - remember 'Whatever'? *SHUDDER*

Morning Glory was mostly good, even had a couple of obvious classics (as heard on Australian Idol ad nauseum) but needed a bit of trimming of the fat IMO. But hey, don't we all.
