Thinking about the Bob Dylan thread on the "Entertainment" forum, reminded me about how he hates it when anyone in the crowd asks him to play "Hurricane" - apparently a sure way to a walkoff from him in concert.

Neil Young stated that, after Kurt Cobain quoted from "Rust Never Sleeps" in his suicide note, that he would never again play the song in concert.

For many, many years, "Sadie The Cleaning Lady" was a sore point for John Farnham.

What other songs are definite "no-no" zones for other artists in concert nowadays?

I doubt that Billy Joel is too keen to sing Uptown Girl these days.

I heard recently that pretty much none of the acts who appeared on Hey Hey Its Saturday actually performed their songs live.

I saw Lou Reed a few years back now. I know he rarely performs "Walk on the Wild Side". Cant remember if he did.....he is a sensitive fellow old Lou. Plays what he wants really.

My favorite Aussie band The Church used to rarely play "Under the Milkyway" until recently. (after Sydney Olympics!!!)

...and Simple Minds rarely play "Dont you forget about me" as I know Jim Kerr bloody hates the songs lyrics (dont think he wrote them).....

I think Morrissey (solo) cringes at playing old songs from his former band The Smiths.....

Radiohead "Creep" Thom refuses to sing it.


Pearl Jam hesitant to play "Alive". Never heard that one before. It is still played live to this day.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are fairly reluctant to play anything from One Hot Minute for obvious reasons. A shame because I friggin love the album.

Pretty sure that Shiny Happy People wouldn't have been on too many REM playlists!

Until the Led Zep reunion gig last year, I don't think Robert Plant had sung Stairway to Heaven at all since the original split in 1980.

Foo Fighters have said they wont play Big Me live, though it does get the odd run

As far as I know AC/DC haven't done "It's a long way to the top" live since Bon Scott died.
For many years the various line ups of The Saints wouldn't do I'm Stranded live. Chris Bailey even got into an argument with the crowd about it when they supported The Damned in Sydney in 1986. The Damned then came out and played it!

Silverchair stopped playing Tomorrow pretty early on in their career and not that I keep right up with them these days but I don't think they've played it in more than ten years now.

That jogged the memory - he also has said he will never play "All About Soul" anymore on similar grounds (seems to write songs about current flames/wives; loses said flame/wife and then has to cull the songlist by another song)

Yeah, the bugger has enough songs to do that and just quietly not a bad effort to snap up Christie Brinkley in ths first place.

Eddie loves how the song has changed, evolved over time, and how it means so much more to different people.

New Order used to bitch about having to do Blue Monday every time they played, and then played it.

You know, I'd never known that or thought about it, but now that you mention, I don't reckon they sang it at any of the concerts I've been to, or post-Bon video concerts I've seen.

I used to be a big Swannee fan as a young lad growing up, but when Johnny played at a SANFL Grand Final I reckon he refused to do any of his songs (live).
