The album comes out on Monday I think and while I'm not as big a fan of Green Day as I once was I'm still keen to hear it. I'm more a fan of their Insomniac and Nimrod albums. Anyway Channel V & MAX just had an hour long special on the new album which featured an interview promoting 21st Century Breakdown with some of their video clips in between. If you don't have Foxtel and can't see one of the replays of the special here's a link to the full uncut interview on their website:

Just got the album, haven't listened.
Loved Dookie, and a few after that (that you mentioned) although I didn't get the last album.
I have got this purely on the reviews I've read - not one bad thing at all.

Listened to it today, liked a lot of it more than the last album but there was a bit too much slow stuff for my liking, I think they tried to hard to recapture that "Time of my life" song.
Nothing complex about their music but the thing I did like about most of the rockier stuff is it had an element of Living End to it.
They'll never recapture their early stuff and we're kidding ourselves if we listen to a new album expecting it to happen too.

lol, I think we all know they haven't been punk for a long time and IMHO never. But I like pop music too!

A couple of things; I hope this album is good because on a few forums some Green Day fans are saying it's a disappointment. TLE were still a rockabilly band when GD 'discovered' them and let them support them on their '96 tour. Played at Thebby and sold out in like 45 minutes, what a show it was. TLE are signed in the US to Billie Joe's label too and Chris Cheney got up and played with them last time they toured here in late '05. TLE while okay were always a poor man's Fireballs and used to rip them off badly. Green Day were very much still a punk band up until Warning in 2000 and then confirmed the more rock shift with American Idiot.
For those interested that Green Day special is being repeated on MAX on Wednesday at 1:30pm & 9pm.
Also the word is the Green Day tour will be in December.

I have listened to 21st Century Breakdwon twice, once Sat night with mates around and the other in and out of the car yesterday.
First impressions- unmistakable Greenday tunes. Might need a few listens to really get into it. Bit "softer"* than I was hoping for.

Yeah it was a great show. I was front row with a dyed blue mohawk, those were the days lol I'm pretty sure it was just TLE and Green Day. I've always not minded TLE even though they're more of a rock band these days but I remember reading in an interview a few years ago that GD's policy is to always a pick a band to support them that they know they can blow offstage! That would seem to make sense why Simple Plan were their support act last time they actually came to Adelaide in early '05 and why Jimmy Eat World & My Chemical Romance were their supports on the late '05 tour.
That last tour they only came out here for two shows, noted punk venues the SCG in Sydney and Telstra Dome in Melbourne

btw their supports for their big US tour for this album are Kaiser Chiefs & Franz Ferdinand.

Think they still wanted to cash in on the popularity of the early 05 shows. Think most if not all early 05 shows were sell-outs. I went in 05 GA was sold out so it was off to a seat no way I was going to miss it. Simple Plan were and still are sh1thouse and I can still feel the heat on my face like it was yesterday from those opening pyrotechnics

I gotta admit I didn't go to see them in '05, they were no longer the Green Day I once knew *sniff*

I finally got this album on the weekend and listened to it tonight and I think it's unreal. Normally I never truly like any album first listen but this I loved. It's got elements of all their albums with some alright songs and some absolute crackers. The song they played on Letterman the other week (East Jesus Nowhere I think) sounds great too.
Right now I've got this album surpassing American Idiot into #3 of my preferred Green Day albums behind Insomniac and Nimrod.

Green Day were pretty good on the 'Live From Abbey Road' show on Foxtel tonight. I'm still considering whether to go and see them at the Ent centre Sunday week but unfortunately Jet will be supporting.

Taking Junior Boon ( 13 ) on Sunday night and yes, the appointment of JET as the warm up act is a little upsetting. Be that as it may, Junior is looking forward to it as you can well imagine....

I'm not a Jet fan, but if they are the worst band you ever see you've done pretty well.
Pub rockers, no more than that.

Excellent show. First time I have seen them live and was very impressed, good mix of old and new songs also.
Pyrotechnics were insane, and surely the guy who was pulled up on stage to sing the whole song was a set up??
