Probably, the lyrics aren't about bushfires....

Massive line-ups for both concerts though:

Sydney (SCG): Coldplay, Josh Pyke, Eskimo Joe, Hunters & Collectors, The Hoodoo Gurus, Jet, Wolfmother, Icehouse, Little Birdy, The Presets, You Am I and the Midnight Juggernauts.

Melbourne (MCG): Kings Of Leon, Jack Johnson, Augie March, Gabriella Cilmi, Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson with Troy Cassar-Daly, Jet, Liam Finn, Midnight Oil, Hunters & Collectors, Paul Kelly, Split Enz, Wolfmother and Bliss N Eso.

I noticed some bands are named to play at both concerts - I guess they'll perform at one and shoot off to the other to perform again a little later...

I don't know how I feel about Midnight Oil now. Probably my favourite band growing up as a kiddie... I find it very hard rocking to a suit who seems to have become what he once despised.

Interesting that the rest of the Oils, without Bones Hillman, have formed a band with the Violent Femmes' Brian Ritchie! Now that's bizarre

Agreed Zipzap, used to really respect The Oils but now the lyrics coming out of Peter Garretts mouth are just irrelevent... :(

Garratt sat for the senate in 1984, so he never really despised it, just said he did because thats the view of the people who like his music!!

Quite right. Doesn't matter what he thinks anymore, he is hamstrung by the party machine. It's much easier for someone like him to be in opposition, to have something to rail against. I'm hoping that the shows on the weekend give him a little confidence to shake things up in Canberra a bit more - and regain his rightful place as a very effective and astute trouble-maker.

I thought musically they were excellent but vocally they sounded stretched.
