Was lucky enough to pick up these bargains at the Salvos today.
Top quality vinyl, it seems barely played, among the usual Mantovani and Engleber Humperdink stuff.

Television - Marquee Moon.
Billy Bragg - Talking With the Taxman About Poetry, Brewing Up With, Life's A Riot With Spy vs Spy.
Ramones - Leave Home, Ramones, Rocket To Russia, End of the century, It's Alive.
Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat.
The Smiths - Reel Around the Fountain

$1 - great quality.

Any thoughts on these albums guys?

Wow, nice work. All good stuff. Esp the Television & BB albums. Is the Smiths one a single? I once picked up a mint Smiths with Sandie Shaw 7" (Hand in Glove) at a Henley Salvos once which is worth a bit. Not quite as much as the Nirvana 'Hormoaning' e.p. which I sneaked past a slightly suspicious Cash Converters salesperson for a couple of dollars (regularly goes for plenty on eBay). Nothing better than getting a vinyl payoff every now and then after looking through mounds and mounds of Barry Manilows and Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass.

Sorry, just realised The Smiths album I purchased was their self titled debut.
Due to the layout of the back cover, I thought the album title was Reel Around The Fountain.
Hand In Glove is song two on side two.

BTW - nice whoremoaning pick up.

"Hormoaning" was available in Australia and Japan on CD. The Japanese version is fairly common. In fact I picked one up brand new for $15 about a year back. The Aust version has a different cover (photo of the band) so that alone makes it more collectable particularly to the OS market. Also hasn't been in print since 1992 (IIRC) so would be worth a pretty penny. The vinyl version would be worth mega bucks as well - especially if you can hook into the US collectors market.

You see the Aussie version that LL mentions go for $100 - $500 on eBay, there's a couple up there now, some very cheap. But beware of fakes!
I see there's a red vinyl copy being sold for $500+ at the moment.

Either that is a fake or mega mega mega rare. I don't remember the swirly red vinyl version.
I have a double sheet mint condition poster (approx 6ft by 3 ft) advertising their only Adelaide Show (at the Old Lion ;) ) which I've often been tempted to put on ebay to test the water.

Hey guys,

I have the Australian version of "Hormoaning".

Tour dates on inside sleeve, Aussie flag on the back and band on front with Australian 92' Tour EP.

Tracks :

1. Turnaround
2.Aneurism
3.D-7
4.Son of A Gun
5.Even in his Youth
6. Molly's Lips

Think I will be holding on to this for a while...

Will check Ebay out to see what prices are.

;)

Nice. Kids' college fund ;)

I actually suspect lots of people have it and don't know it's rare. It certainly wasn't hard to get in Aus at the time.

More purchases:

Talking Heads, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Remain In Light.
The Undertones - self titled

Really good quality.

I noticed a heap of other vinyl - Toots, Derek and the Dominoes, Ted Hawkins, Blue Oyster Cult, Steely Dan, Captain Beef Heart and some more undertones.

What's a good Toots album? I'm interesting in having a look at their stuff....

Bought a close to mint copy of the Moonlight Jug and String Band (first version of the Angels, with some different members) single "That's All Right With Me" years back at a Salvos shop.

Wow - these LPs just keep on giving.
Opened up Ramones Alive (it's a gatefold sleeve) and what falls out, but a copy of the Sheena Is A Punk Rocker on 45.
Also features Commando/I Don't Care.
According to the sleeve it is number 011178 of 12,000.
