Voting starts boxing day, and the count is on Australia Day - but put your tips down early people! What is gonna take out number 1? What SHOULD take out number 1?

I reckon "Sex on Fire" by KOL is an obvious favourite, it started on the Js, was picked up and thrashed by commercial radio, and was even covered on bloody Australian Idol. I reckon other contenders are MGMT's "Electric Feel" and the other MGMT track they play, cant recall the name.

But ill be voting for anything by Birds of Tokyo....

Sex on Fire hands down. All the teenie boppers will get on the website and vote their shit music in as usual.
Not calling Kings Of Leon shit because I love them, but songs pumped on commercial radio always make up the top 10.

I hope Kings of Leon doesnt win it. I also like Birds of Tokyo and would like to see them get a few entries in the Hottest 100. Most of the popular commercial stuff will get in the top 10 though.

Surely The Presets would have to make the top ten.
A massive year for them thanks to a massive album.

Good point, and the Aussie acts always pole well! Their stand out would be "My People" id suppose, i may be wrong here, but did that track make last years JJJ100? It was on the J's for ages before it was picked up by commercial radio...

That Pez festival song also might go well.

I'm pretty sure it is on last year's hottest 100 CD, CT

The Festival Song by Pez is going to have to be up there. Not bad at all.

The Presets released 'My People' at the end of '07.
The album was released early this year.
The tracks 'Talk Like That' and 'This Boy's In Love' would have to be a decent showing.

I'm predicting Metallica to finish top 10, but I'd be very surprised if Kings of Leon aren't number 1.

It would be nice to see Metallica up that high Chuckie, but I don't like their chances.
Tool struggled to make it top 10. I don't think there's enough heavy metals fans like us voting out there!

This is true, but I reckon there's a lot more Metallicats out there than Tools!
Would be nice to see Butterfly Effect up high this year.

Britney should get a run with "Womaniser".
She's a lyrical genius.

Yeah! i'm just too cool for school hehe! B-)

Some of the announcers on JJJ drive me up the wall... "i aint no Spider!"
I'm more inclined to turn on MMM and listen to Walking on the Moon & Rebel Yell on the odd occasion.
Oh No! i'm getting old!

Only Gaby Brown sh*ts me, but she only ever fills in. The rest I find rather endearing and entertaining. I'd listen to 3D, but I'd miss the J's too much.

Silverchair were meant to walk it in with the no.1 last year but that didnt eventuate. But the hottest 100 is too big an event these days to see an independent act win like the Whitlams did in 97. It will most definitely go to song that is heard across a plethora of stations.

Pass on RRR thanks , apart from Tony Biggs and The Ghost. Too many twenty somethings these days using it as a stepping stone in their media career, with some very odd ideas about what should be played on public radio. I did the training course recently and all I can say is I think RRR was probably good once but those days have well and truly passed.

Other internationals that might get a Top Ten notch on their belt...

Kaiser Chiefs
Franz Ferdinand
Bloc Party
The Killers

I generally leave internationals out of my voting and just go with the independent Aussie stuff, of which there is heaps to choose from.

Sadly Quichey, I agree.
However, while a have a choice of only two FM radio stations, one of which is JJJ and the other plays only one song in 20 minutes (as I heard during my commute this morning), I know which one I'll be listening to.

PS: Why does 3D not have a live stream?????
