Nice work the Real Number 3...
Got there about 3.30, and saw in order:
Scary Kids scaring Kids- OK, but the sound on stage 1 (the left side as you looked at them) was absolutely ATROCIOUS.
From Autumn to Ashes- played where Carpathian were originally designated. Only saw a couple of songs but were solid.
Mindless Self Indulgence- Surprise of the day. Didnt know any of their stuff, but were really entertaining, and sounded clear. Thumbs up!
Bleeding Through- powered over for 15 or so minutes, had quite a loyal following. Nothing grabbed me but they had some solid riffs.
Thursday- really love this band and they played as well as they could but also plagued by poor sound- did the organisers actually stand in front of the stage and listen before the bands got underway? Stoked they finished with Jet Black New Year- an awesome song.
Grabbed one of those turkish pizza type things for tea, watched the end of TreoS who seemed pretty good.
Infectious Grooves- Sensational. Having not listened to an IG tune for quite a few years they blew me away with the levels of funk they produced. Sensational musicianship and I cant believe Mike Muir still has the energy he does. Hilarious when they invited people up on stage to "help sing" when all they did was dance terribly and try to take as many photos of Mike as they could! Second best show on the day IMO.
As I lay Dying- Pretty impressed with this mob too- seemed much more technical than I had given them credit for. Kept a large crowd entertained with a decent set. Really packed where I was standing, and they got a pretty loud cheer when they finished.
Killswitch Engage- Absolutely biased opinion here, but they absolutely RAWKED. Couldnt believe how quickly 50 or so minutes could go! Every song they played was a killer, and their cover of Dio's Holy Diver could just as well be their own song. Truly great sound, tighter than a duck's butt. Gees I hope they do a tour of their own in Adelaide sometime soon.
All in all a great day out, just a pity they must have got the same catering group in that do the budgeting for The Bay Oval- No soft drink after 6pm and No stubby holders or T shirts larger than medium at about 5! Useless.
Good to see Tazz too, although briefly. What did you think mate?
