True genius of a man. Loved him and still love his music.
I often hear the phrase "Where were you when you heard the news that ..... died?" well although I was only nine years old at the time, John Lennon's death is the earliest occassion in my life where I can recall what I was doing, when I heard the news of a famous person's death.
It was splashed across the front page of the Advertiser "Lennon Shot".
(I also heard this morning that today was the day when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour.)

RIP John Lennon. One of music's all time greats.

Ditto guys,

A real icon. Loved the Beatles and thought Lennon was fantastic. You wonder what music this great man would of come out with now and his thoughts on the music industry as it is now.
Stood up for some great things and will always be remembered....

Think i will put on "imagine" Now....

I was on school holidays at the time.
I was listening to 3XY on a stinking hot 40 degree day when Greg Evans
notified the listeners at 4.21( Yes,I looked at my watch) and informed us of the news.
My generation's "Where were you when JFK was killed" moment.

Come to think of it, 1980 wasn't a great year for Rock 'n Roll.
Bon Scott,
Ian Curtis,
John Bonham,
John Lennon.
:(

I was only 9 but still remember Robin Roenfeldt breaking the news on the Channel Niners

I didn't really know the name but sensed someone important had died so went out to tell my mum who I remember being very upset

The photo of Chapman with Lennon hours before the shooting still gives me the creeps

IIRC he made it to the hospital but died soon after :( :(
