Australias Greatest Party Songs

Postby locky801 » Sun Nov 04, 2007 4:24 pm

Ok SA Footy lovers, unfortunately I have been given the task of arranging music for a good old work Xmas show this year which is of an aussie theme, so I thought why not come to the experts. What are australias greatest party songs, AND I DON'T MEAN YOUR CLUB SONGS, I have to cater music for people 18 to 60, (about the age range on here), so help me out post your ideas, so I can get busy. Remember they have to be Australian. Cheers and thanks in anticipation of some great songs

There is Mick Jagger's a capella version of "Wild Colonial Boy" from the late 1970s "Ned Kelly" movie, but you would need chuck buckets handy. However, Kris Kristoffersen's and Waylon Jenning's songs from the same movie are much better and definitely Aussie themed. :D

Spectrum I'll Be Gone
Skyhooks Horror Movie etc etc
La De Das Gonna see my Baby Tonight
Daddy Cool Eagle Rock etc
Men at Work
Models
Pseudo Echo
Cold Chisel
AC/DC

Google "Countdown" for band names.
Should be a good fun project,I arranged a heap of tunes for a 50th wedding anniversary and it was a bit of a nostalgia trip and a "remember when?" thing.

Isn't it: This is Australia by Gangagang - PhilG we miss you....

If you want real Australian Music

Warumpi Band - Black fella White Fella, and My Island home (I cringe everytime I hear Anu's version of it)
Yothi Yindu - Mainstream and Sunset dreaming
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

One of the funniest moments for me on this site was going through that old thread and almost hearing the penny drop for poor PhilG through the screen .... and then he still kept on fighting ....... and good on him for that

Worth a look - the thread was similarly titled to this one IIRC
In between signatures .....
