The Song Remains the Same: Zeppelin flies again

Postby Rik E Boy » Thu Sep 13, 2007 9:54 am

Now for a REAL comeback.

All of us grizzly old rockers were astounded to hear the the original surviving members of the mighty Zeppelin are going to reunite for one final gig in November with the Beast's son, Jason Bonham filling in for his old man on drums.

Apparently this gig is going ahead in November in England somewhere. Instead of giving us details though the dikwads on Sunrise starting talking carp again but at least I got to hear a bit of 'Whole lotta love' this morning.

Damn good drummer in his own right as well.
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

This was a rumour a while back and then it re-surfaced on the web a few days ago.

It's a tribute to the founder of Atlantic Records, who died recently.

If I remember correctly, they've played a few gigs together since the death of Bonham (Live Aid, a wedding, Atlantic Records 40th), but nothing more than that. They're all around 60 now, but the surviving members has been pretty active (particularly Plant), so shouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to put on a good performance.

LED ZEPELLIN... tho I've always loved the band I have to knock 'em...
They've brought out almost as many 'Best of/Greatest Hits' compilation albums as
their contemparies & fellow 70's icons BLACK SABBATH :prayer:  :supz:

....not that I'm complaining mind you!

A very quick search online for tickets comes up with two so calld 'ticket shops' selling them. One is charging from £450 - £1,190 thats around AU$ 1086 - 2,873 and the other is £825 - £1320...AU$ 1,992 - 3,187. This is before a bidding war starts on the likes of eBay. Not bad considering the tickets are supposed to be £125 AU$ 301 and awarded by ballot

Hopefully for the millions who won't have a ticket, the event will have some kind of television coverage.
Surely that will be the case.

Had a listen to the recorded radio interview with Plant and he was very pleased with the way rehearsals were sounding to him.
Their previous reunion attempts haven't been too flash (they actually refused permission for inclusion of their performance on the Live Aid DVD), so this one should be far better.

Good luck with the ticket ballot jtc.

They'll probably do what they did with the Eagles concert in Melbourne...30 minutes of highlights on tv closely followed by the dvd release  especially as I believe this one is for charity so might expect them to exploit cd/dvd sales to contribute too.

JAS

P.S. Good luck JTC...hope you get a ticket and hope it's an awesome show :D

JTC, I work for the company who runs the venue where the concert will be held. (Not too hard to work out, but crazy choice of destination as it doesn't hold as many as say Wembly could). Anyhoo, I'm trying to find out whether favours will be done for employees in the form of tickets. Will let you know how I go. Bugger paying £2000 - £4000 on ebay!!!!

P.S. I didn't register in time :( :(
