I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing ;) but I've got to admit I'm a PSB fan.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Would be good if someone could post a set list to see how it differed from Syd and the show Leaping Lindner saw.

V-FESTIVAL SYDNEY (from nme.com):

'In Heaven'/'Wave Of Mutilation (UK Surf)'
'Bone Machine'
'Monkey Gone To Heaven'
'U-Mass'
'Head On'
'Caribou'
'Subbacultcha'
'No. 13 Baby'
'Tame'
'Hey'
'The Holiday Song'
'Here Comes Your Man'
'Wave Of Mutilation'
'Gouge Away'
'Planet Of Sound'
'Debaser'
'Isla De Encanta'
'Nimrod's Son'
'Vamos'
'Where Is My Mind'
'La La Love You'
'Gigantic'

I actually think that the nme list is wrong - so I deleted Crackity Jones and Something Against You from it and added 'Gouge Away'. Also I think 2 versions of 'Mutilation' in the one set was a bit much for me.

MY GUESS OF THE SET AT THEBBY (pretty similar really):

'Bone Machine'
'U-Mass'
'Head On'
'Monkey Gone To Heaven'
'Caribou'
'No. 13 Baby'
'Mr Grieves'
'Tame'
'Hey'
'Here Comes Your Man'
'Wave Of Mutilation'
'I Bleed'
'Gouge Away'
'Planet Of Sound' *****
'Debaser'
'Crackity Jones'
'Something Against You' ***** (I was one happy prick!)
'Broken Face' ***** (aha, aha aha oooooo)
'Vamos' (same david-joey drumstick thingy as Syd)
'Where Is My Mind'
'La La Love You' (same as Sydney with the 'time to give david's vocal chords a workout' thingy)
'Gigantic' (same 'good night charles', 'goodnight kim..' ending as Syd V-Fest)

As ZZ mentioned - no Bossonova at all in 2 gigs was a bit weird. Both sets dominated by the first 2 albums. Omissions that would have been nice to hear:
Velouria, Alison, Is She Weird, Cactus, I've Been Tired (one, two, three...)
"And look at John Halbert"
" His whiskers have curled."

I was discussing this with Mrs Lindner on the way home from the gig. For a band that only did four studio albums to play for close to and hour and a half and totally ignore one of those albums is a pretty major statement on how they (as a group) must feel about that album. Sure "Doolittle" being one of the greatest albums of all time was always going to be hard to follow up but "Bossonova's" not that bad I would have thought.

BTW fully agree re: 'Something Against You' and 'Broken Face'. How good was it to hear those two tracks?

Much prefer Bossanova to Trompe Le Monde which always sounded like Pixies-lite to me
