I actually like their new single. It's the gutsiest sounding thing they've done since the early 80s, from my limited knowledge base

Love the new song! Best since Start me up from 1981's albumTattoo You.

I have most Stones records.

Some great some not so great. Like ZZ said "lot of filler in some"

Ive read Keith Richards Biography. A good read. Comes across as not really liking Jagger much.

Love /Hate relationship there.

Anyone tempted by the box set of Beatles remasters should head to amazon.ca where it's around $250 AUD delivered. Having sent a box of records back from Canada recently I know how much postage from there costs, would be around the $100 mark I'd wager - Amazon are charging $8 for 6-8 weeks or $15 for expedited. Whoo hoo.

Quick check of prices here - I've seen it online at one place for $400-ish, it's $500 at JBs and a whopping $600 at (in)Sanity. Sorry Australian economy...

Absolutely perfect - and effing heavy! One nerdish quibble though - it's the US pressing, which has had lots of quality control issues, instead of the EU pressing. Apparently it's a crap shoot what Amazon send you. No complaints so far though, esp for the price

Wow, I can thoroughly recommend that! I spent nearly 3 hours sifting through 45's only (cos I've got a 45 jukebox) and didn't even get through half of them!

Mind you, I still handed over about 70 bucks in the process.

Good to hear you enjoyed it. I don't have a record player so I only go for CD's & DVD's and noticed today those things are becoming smaller and smaller and it's more becoming mainly focused on records. Which if they're your thing I agree you could have a field day.

I was only there for maybe an hour and only got:

Tool-Undertow CD $2
Brain Damage DVD $5
See No Evil DVD $5
Ghoulies/Ghoulies II DVD $5

For me the highlight of the day was going to the Port markets afterwards and scoring a 20 year old copy of Fangoria magazine and Species graphic novel for the sum of $10 :D

I have a ton of awesome old records, but I have no idea where to buy a record player and speakers.

I bought a record player not that long ago from Target. It was a small one with a USB outlet so you could transfer the vinyls to computer and it was about $30 on a half-price sale. I bought it solely to finally listen to some very rare 7"s from Secret Chiefs 3 I bought at one of their shows in '98, a good 15 year wait to hear them.

Listened to them they weren't that good and the arm on the thing started playing up so just took it back and got the money back.

I had a mate give me his collection, and there's some quality stuff in there, like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Twisted Sister etc, so I'm keen to hear what it sounds like. How does the quality compare?

Compared to CD? Very much inferior although that cheapo record player I bought had no guts to it and I didn't have it long enough to bother hooking up some proper speakers to it, it didn't even have a headphone jack either.
