I listen each year to the Hottest 100 (those that know my regular music taste, stop sniggering) and find plenty I really like on it, but blowed* if I can see the attraction with this Gotye bloke. It might be well constructed, well produced etc, but it still sounds...tired.

Then again, Bernard Fanning's "Wish You Well" was number one a few years back with a song that, had it been a busker in Rundle Mall, wouldn't have gotten past the secretary at many record companies, much less to the A&R bloke, IMHO.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

So I found the clip of the Gotye song on blip.fm and played it, just to see what all the fuss was about.

It's not bad at all. Don't really understand how anyone could go crazy-ape bonkers over it, but then I don't understand all the hate expressed towards it either. Certainly better than a lot of the stock-standard formulaic stuff being pumped over the airwaves these days.
