Rather than open a new thread with a similar topic, have bumped this one.

Which acts, in your opinion, have NEVER "jumped the shark" musically? Acts that were still producing great music at the end as well as the beginning.

The one that triggered this just appeared on the MP3 here - Talking Heads. "Naked" was a great final album from them, and their previous album, "True Stories" had a couple of corkers on it.

(in one of life's coincidences, the original topic of this thread just appeared next on the MP3 - U2, with "Angel Of Harlem")

Hunters and Collectors were still producing great music at the end, and I can't pinpoint an album where I thought, yep, that's it from them.

I don't know that H&C ever jumped the shark but they lost me personally after Human Fraility. My wife was a big fan from the early days and kept going to see them live right up til the final gig but I balied long before that.
Again maybe not jumping the shark per say but Talking Heads lost me when they went to EMI (Little Creatures).

Funny, I pulled out a couple of their albums the other day - first time in a LONG time. Agree with LL and Pseudo though What's A Few Men and Ghost Nation still had a few strong moments. At the time I considered they jumped the shark with 'Cut' - a 92 album which came out at a time that every dinosaur rawk band from the 80s - in the wake of Achtung Baby (sorry to mention it again) - seemed to be discovering samples and sequencers

I cannot stand them on any level. Any band that writes about "I like your pants around your feet" and then, in a future song, namechecks Cheech and Chong to sound "hip" doesn't cut it IMHO.
