Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, the first "super group".

That would be an awesome show.

How bad was that KRS-One song with R.E.M. though! Surely one of the worst things either has been involved with

The only people I knew who liked BDP back in the day had a tag and enjoyed bombing up trains and buildings.

I on the other hand liked hip-hop, but was too 'toy' to have a tag. lol

Brings back some memories - RCF, TDC, NA, 73A, crews and local kings Rank and Tense.

Narrowing it down to one gig - actually, it wasn't a BDP gig as such - PM Dawn, Brooklyn, 1992.

Prince Be, the fat PM Dawn singer, had been dissing KRS in interviews.

During a show in the Brooklyn, KRS and the BDP crew rushed the stage. Punches were thrown. PM Dawn copped a hiding. And fatso got thrown into the frenzied crowd.

KRS then grabbed the mic and dropped 'Still #1' (what else?)

Those were the days - before the studio gangsters and hip-pop took over...

Gold story.

I'm assuming that KRS-One said he "wasn't a big PM Dawn fan, so he had to put Fatso right back with the rest...I guess"

And now the sad thing is you'll never see either of them again.

FWIW I saw Nirvana (in Adelaide) and whilst I'm really glad I saw them the gig itself was pretty average. Was also talking with a friend recently who saw them here at The Palace and said the same thing.
Don't know if that makes you feel better though :?

Nirvana wasn't about talent. All about timing.

As much as we love them, c'mon they weren't all that talented were they?
They came along at a time when music needed a kick (much like The Pistols - from whom they appropriated their breakthrough album title) and they were the lucky band that was there at the right time to provide it.

While i agree with the timing statement, the talent side of things, man, i would love to see anyone rival Dave Grohl in an alrounder position of drumming, vocals and guitar.
He is very talented.
Genius.
I think the Foo Fighters are better than Nirvana.
Thanks to Grohl's genius.

Kurt obviuosly had his problems but songwritng ablility wasn't one of them.
I recall Paul McCartney saying that Kurt could have been anything.
As for the othe two, Novoselic has retired from music and is into local politics,
whilst the very untalented drummer has faded into obscurity.

I tend to think that Nirvana was as much about timing AND talent. Bleach and Nevermind are superb albums in anyone's language. They just weren't great live, mind you they're not Kay Cottee there.

I'm not saying they weren't talented. But the stuff they were recording and performing at the time wasn't as good musically as say a Soundgarden or a Pearl Jam IMO.

And Grohl - definitely very good. No dispute. But has improved as a performer immensely since those days.
