Yesterday realised there was a new Hilltops album so downloaded it on iTunes for $16.95 thinking I wouldn't be able to get it here. Then went to a local record store where they had the real deal in the cheap bin for $12 - OUCH!
"A no vote from any club means there is some sort of risk involved in our entry into the competition not working," Steven Trigg.

Today I bought this album
Matt the Hooples Greatest Hits
For anyone who has never seen MTH lead singer Ian Hunter, he is a bitta of a Roger Daltrey lookalike

Ian Hunter went solo, after his MTP days and sang that classic song Once Bitten Twice Shy in 1975

David Bowie had an influence on MTP
Can you believe Bowie offered them the hit song Suffragette City in 1972, but MTP knocked it back !
MTP however were not to be 'Once bitten twice shy'
Bowie also created another hit called All The Young Dudes
This time MTP took on the hit, and what a song it ends up being for them

In 2004 Rolling Stone had Their top 500 Greatest songs of all time list
At number 253 was All The Young Dudes

The top 10 Rolling Stone songs are
1 Like A Rolling Stone [Bob Dylan] and I wonder why Rolling Stone picked this song
2 Satisfaction [Rolling Stones]
3 Imagine [John Lennon]
4 Whats going On[Marvin Gaye]
5 Respect [Aretha Franklin]
6 Good Vibrations [Beach Boys]
7 Johnny Be Goode [Chuck Berry]
8 Hey Jude [Central Districts supporters+ some Liverpool band in the 60s]
9 Smells Like Teen Spirit [Nirvana]
10 What'd I say [Ray Charles]

MTH were also on the verge of splitting up when Bowie gave them "All the young dudes" and it became a hit.
BTW I own one song in the Rolling Stone Top Ten 10 - no prizes for guessing which one. Let's just say it's the newest one. ;)

A rare treasure Hottie !

I bought the Bazz plus Pilko album Day Trip To Victor recently
Bought it from Retro Petes shop at Rosewater
When I bought It he said to me
"' Unreal, I have all these Beatles albums , and people buy Bazz and Pilko instead .""

Bazz and Pilko were my favorite DJs in thier time
Barry Ion [Bazz] played football for Woodville in the 1960's

These days I tune in mainly to Dom Rinaldo on 1323 !

Max Musics 100 Greatest Songs of All Time
From last week, watched the tape now

These were the top 10 songs on the list
Ive rated them
5 being a pass
I will include the dates of the songs

10 Still Havent Found What Im Looking For [U2, 1987] 6
Good song, but not a top 10 off all time

9 Living On A Prayer [Bon Jovi, 1986] 7
Superb song
Saw this band live after a Grand Prix once, they didnt disappoint

8 When Doves Cry [Prince,1984] 4
Cannot believe this is in any top 10,000 let alone being rated the 8th best song

7 Hey Jude [Paul Mccartney 2007 Brit awards or 2008 ?] 9.4
Na na na not as good as the Beatles version 'all those years ago', but a great great song for Paul
Both Paul and the Beatles sound better than the Cental Districts faithful in Octobers

6 Vogue [Madonna,1990] 6
Stunning video to watch
The bit where Madonna sings a melody of famous singers , actresses etc a highlight
Dunno how it made number 6 though

5 Good Vibrations [Beach Boys,1966] 6
Someone squeezing Brian Wilsons nuts perhaps
Wow what a voice, and what a song
This song was made that long ago, in the year of the deciMAL currency change

4 Stairway To Heaven [Led Zepplin, 1971] 9.7
Absolute classic, is it a song or an anthem ?

3 Thriller [Michael Jackson,1982] 6
The girl in video is a stunner, the song is ok, but at number 3 that rating is as shocking as Vincent Price
This song is 30 years old, the NW football club had a 82 Premiership reunion last week, thats how long ago it was

2 Bohemian Rhapsody [Queen, 1975] 8
Hard to describe how good this song is
Something different I guess, a classic
This song was released about a month after NW won the 75 Grand Final !

1 Imagine [John Lennon, 1971] 9.5
If you dont like this song, then see a doctor
Without doubt one of the very greatest songs of all time

Interesting to note, if we disregard Mcartneys Hey Jude of 2007ish [1968 Beatles]
No recent songs on that list
1990 Vogue is the most recent song
4 songs in the 80s is the most prolific era in the top 10

Interestingly recently MTV did a countdown where they had the most influential songs of all time. The top three were....

(3) Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
(2) Anarchy in the UK - Sex Pistols
(1) Imagine - John Lennon

Like them or loathe them #2 & #3 turned the music world on its head and kick started musical revolutions...so pretty good call. Like it or loathe it #1 changed nothing in terms of influence.
BTW my doctor can't see me until next week. ;)
